Why would she buy milk and wine? Is the garage near where she lives?

Sounds as if she might be going to meet someone or to stay somewhere.

I could understand if if the garage was near where she lived and was after her run. Unless the person relaying the story is mistaken?

My first thought was she needed milk but there was a minimum card spend, so she grabbed a bottle of wine to make up the difference, so didn't need to purchase loads of different items. However I doubt she would have run with milk and wine in a bag! MOO

Maybe someone was waiting nearby in a car to give her a lift.

This is making me think of the Victoria Taylor case. She bought things in a garage shop right before going missing and being found in a river.
Hope this case has a better ending.

Under the police appeal, two friends have claimed they may have spotted Rachel - described as being 5ft 9in tall, of a slim build and with blonde hair - attempting to hitchhike hours after her last sighting.

They said: 'It does look like the same lady that was hitching a lift except the lady we seen [sic] obviously had the yellow jacket/cardigan on.'

The potential witness said this was around the Church Minshull area - some eight miles from the petrol station - between 12.30pm and 1.15pm on Saturday, hours after her last official sighting.

A separate witness also claimed they may have seen her passing a farm shop at Minshull and 'walking towards Crewe'.

That's my question. Was going to jog while carrying milk and wine? I would say, no.

It looks like it's just under 2 miles from the garage to the water park. She could have walked there.

3.50am seems awfully early for a run, however I do not run so have no idea if it is usual for runners/joggers to be out this early.

I was wondering if she was buying milk to take home, seems a strange time to buy wine, although someone mentioned a minimum spend limit at the garage.

Did she have her mobile phone with her?
Did she receive a call and needed to go somewhere? Though at that time I would assume that would be an emergency, unless the lady is perhaps a shift worker?

I really could not see her visiting anyone in running gear, I suggest that she would want a shower/bath if she had been for a run. I may be wrong though.

I pondered upthread if she woke early to exercise before the workday, but I was assuming that time when when she STARTED her run, but now I'm seeing that the time is AFTER she ran for 45 minutes.

So know I'm in the boat with "that's a strange time to jog."

From the Mail article posted above.

Rachel was seen wearing black leggings, a black vest and trainers at the time she vanished, with a phone visible on her outer thigh, suggesting she was out on a run.

The police have acted very quickly on this ...and seemed to have narrowed down an area quickly.

Another possibility is she worked shifts and went for a run "after" work

the Daily Mail article said the garage was 45 minutes run away from her home. So where was she going with milk and wine, as you would hardly jog for 45 minutes with milk and wine. JMO

Strange time of night to go for a run too. JMO

Just to put some doubt in the needing to spend more to pay by card theory, if I'm at the right petrol station, it looks to be a Shall 24 hour with a little Waitrose inside. You expect the pay by card minimum spend in local off licences rather than petrol stations / big chains.

Seemingly they have tracked her phone to the Delamere location nearby which has a lot of water.

Reminds me of the girl up in the north East some months ago described as a runner. Early 20s, attractive, car found on a road to nearby beauty spots. That wasn't a happy outcome.

Are "beauty spots" what we in USA might call "scenic" areas. Does the phrase refer to places that are tranquil and nice to see/visit? I read "beauty spots" and have been thinking of spas or hair salons!

Yes. Areas of scenic beauty.

Has going for a run been confirmed or is that an assumption from the way she's dressed? To me it's quite possible that's what she happened to be wearing, it's not an unusual choice of clothes given the hot weather weve been having and it's no longer light at that time so seems less likely that she was intending to run than she had popped out for a couple of things she'd run out of
