An urgent search has been launched for a missing mother-of-two after her children returned to their home to find her gone.

Rebecca Holdham, known as Becky, was last seen at an address in Ockley Park estate at around 10am on Sunday - and has not been seen since.

Drones, dogs, and a police helicopter have been used to search fields and woods around the West Sussex village.

Concerned locals have spent two nights trawling the countryside in a bid to find the keen horsewoman, as worried friends search for her again tonight.

'So far they've got no trace of Becky,' her mother Alison said, while her best friend Kerry Malby said they had 'no idea if she left of her own accord or if she's been taken.'

'She's a devoted mum and this is completely out of character,' she added. 'She wouldn't just leave her children. We can't understand it...'

Detective Inspector Chris May, of the West Sussex Missing Persons Team, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Rebecca’s welfare, and are urging anyone who has seen or heard from her since Sunday morning to get in touch.

“Extensive enquiries are being completed including physical searches, house-to-house visits, and checks of CCTV and doorbell cameras in the area, and so residents will see an increased police presence in the area while this is ongoing.

“We believe Rebecca to have left the address on foot. She is described as 5’ 4” and with shoulder-length brown hair, and a tattoo on her ankle. At this stage, it’s not known what clothing she is wearing.

“We continue to ask the public to be vigilant and to report any possible sightings or pieces of information they believe may be relevant in helping us find Rebecca."

LinkedIn

She's director of a company 'specialising in renewable technologies'.

Facebook
I think she was director. Seams on the 5th September she left her role as director or within the company. I have been wondering if Becky is upset by this. I think this rather than ‘she’s been taken’ what family fear in the Daily Mail article.

Looking at Companies House, to me, this looks like a relationship breakdown where partners were in business together. There has been a lot of changing around of director’s addresses and details in the past month, and then Rebecca’s resignation as director being the last change noted on the 5th of September.

I hope she is just taking some time away to clear her head and will pop back up when she’s ready.

Now going into 6th day with no sightings or news. Worrying as she has children, so I doubt just 'gone away for a few days'.

I hope it’s not just getting her things in order before taking her own life. Thinking of the Huszti sisters who even contacted their landlord to end their tenancy prior to.
6 days on and nothing
Just musing

The quick look by Google Maps tells me that in the Ockley Park estate there are detached houses, duplexes and blocks of flats. Considering it is UK, with cams everywhere and there is no info about Becky being seen on any cam... Well, if she lived in a block of flats investigator should look long and hard at her neighbours in said block.

We had in my country quite similar case of a young woman who seemingly vanished into thin air after returning to her flat. All that was found were grocery bags on the kitchen floor and half eaten plate pf soup on the table. Came out her vis a vis neighbour abducted, raped and killed her.

Rebecca, known as Becky, is believed to have left Ockley Park estate on foot at around 10am. It could very well be an abduction.

The major change in employment has me concerned about her state of mind.

Search party organised for Monday 10am by her friend.

I have a feeling something may come to light before then.

Good news about the search party tomorrow - though I can't help but feel is is a shame that this isn't happening sooner. I have hope that Becky will be found safe and well.

It’s sad news I’m afraid
Sadly, the body of a woman has been found today (14 September) in Hassocks.

The family of missing Rebecca Holdham have been informed, and they continue to be supported by our officers.

Enquiries are ongoing to confirm the woman’s identity.

Very sad. I think circumstances were pointing to this though after a week. I said yesterday I didn't think tomorrow's search would be necessary.

Police have erected a tent in a field just behind the main road between Hassocks and Burgess Hill, near The Thatched Inn pub.

The private field is overlooked by a windmill and does not have a public footpath.

That was where the search was due to start from tomorrow, the Thatched Inn. I hope it was the police who found her today and not a friend or family member.
