"A woman's body was found on Sunday
by a farmer after bringing his sheep into a field between Hassocks and Burgess Hill in West Sussex
- a short walk from where the mother was last spotted."

This article says she left on foot around 10 pm. Does anyone know the distance between her home and where they found a woman's body?

Very close, about half a mile.

Police have erected a tent in a field just behind the main road between Hassocks and Burgess Hill, near The Thatched Inn pub.

The private field is overlooked by a windmill and does not have a public footpath.

That was where the search was due to start from tomorrow, the Thatched Inn. I hope it was the police who found her today and not a friend or family member.

So sad, was hoping for a positive outcome on this. Was going to join the search tomorrow. Quite eerie that she has been found in the field next to the pub where the search was heading off from. I feel for her children, family and friends.

Could it have been some medical incident?
While going for a walk?
It was 10 am on Sunday.
I understand she was found in the field?

The picture on this article shows she was found right behind houses. How on earth was she not discovered before.

Of course no details around circumstances have been released yet, it seems incredibly strange that she was that closeby and not found before. My friend lives in Hassocks and she said that she and many others walk through those fields regularly. She last walked through on Friday before last.

It does make you wonder whether she has been there the whole time, but on the flip side of that, I can't imagine (if there was foul play involved) that anyone would do that with such a big police presence around.

It must be just unbearable as a family member or friend to think that she was so close and undiscovered that whole time.

Especially that this spot happens to be a pasture, very much in use. The sheep owners I know are vigilant about things laying on the pasture, because sheep are well known to eat almost everything they find, even the things that do not agree with them (ropes, fabric, plastic, you do not want these inside your sheep).

But maybe that is a reason to pick that spot for self-harm (if that's what happened) - she might have thought she'd be found soon.

I hope answers come for her family and friends.

they wouldn't declare it self harm until the coroner labelled it thus

Currently being treated as unexplained and non-suspicious... Self harm? But that wouldn't be "unexplained."

It's very odd.
I think "unexplained" because they don't know yet what the COD was, I'm thinking. They might be waiting for autopsy results.
