Missing for nearly one week

Rebecca Watts left her purse and bank cards at home and her phone has been switched off since she vanished.

The 16-year-old was last seen by her dad's wife Anjie, 49, before she left the family home for a hospital appointment last Thursday.

The family initially thought teenager had gone out to meet her boyfriend.

When she didn't reply to messages or return home they called police the next day.

The slim 5' 4" tall teen has long reddish hair and left home with a laptop and phone.

But she did not take a change of clothes and left behind her make up and toothbrush.

Police say her disappearance is out of character.

Now this statement makes me think she never left home at all. What young girl goes out, taking her laptop BUT leaves her purse at home, and switches off her phone?

I had thought it strange she took her laptop, but thought maybe she was in the habit of taking it to a coffee shop. But if she had no money to even buy a coffee, then that is ruled out.

It appears to me that she did not leave home at all (or at least willingly).

I may be totally wrong but I'm thinking someone else used her phone the day before she disappeared to send the "what would you do if I disappeared" text. I just can't see anyone voluntarily disappearing with just their laptop & phone (& then switching it off) without taking anything else. How would they survive? Especially if she was as shy as the dad made out. Just can't see a "really shy girl who wouldn't even go to a shop till alone" taking off & fending for herself. All just my own opinion!

Missing Rebecca Watts 'sent text' asking: Who would miss me if I'm gone?'

Police were questioned today on a possible text sent by by missing schoolgirl Rebecca Watts.

Friends claim the 16-year-old sent a text the day before she disappeared saying: "who would miss me if I disappeared".

However, officers refused to comment on the allegations that this text was made.

If this is supposed to indicate that she was suicidal, then why on earth take a laptop with her? The only reason I can see, is that she was researching suicide and didn't want anyone to know. But if you are going to kill yourself, why even bother about what people will think? In any event, didn't she plan on meeting up with her bf later that day? Why make plans, and then take off to kill yourself taking a lot of technology equipment with you.

It just doesn't add up.

Seen that. Still don't believe it though. Why would someone voluntarily disappear with just their laptop and mobile phone but nothing else. No clothes, no make up, phone charger, toothbrush, bank card, purse. Not buying it unfortunately. The text was sent just a day before she disappeared. Could have been someone else using her phone...

We still don't know when anyone officially seen her other than her family...

Sounds weird too right? A txt, saying 'who' would miss me? That sounds like it was sent to a group of people? None of this makes much sense, unless it was staged or something....

OK so according to her dad she had stayed at a friends house the night before, I'm sure that could be verified.

Darren Galsworthy told Jack FM: "I was at work at the time. It was my wife... was the last family member to see her. She stayed at a friend's house the previous night. She come home on the Thursday morning, had a shower, got changed. We haven't seen her since"

If your theory is correct, then she went "missing" the previous day, and (possibly) someone destroyed or hid her laptop and phone.

Maybe the laptop info is incorrect and she left her laptop someplace prior to this and someone was just assuming she took it?

Where would she leave it though? Someone would have come forward surely with all the media coverage about it as it could prove vital.. And im sure it was said suspicious items was handed over to the police what was found in troopers hill nature reserve.. I'm thinking it could be the laptop? Could be wrong but jmo if it was the family's laptop as well and not just hers, I'm assuming they'd know?

So I'm not as young as Rebecca, but I've had a laptop since I was 17. I've shoved it everywhere when hanging out somewhere at home (or even friends' houses) - under tables, under couches, under pillows, wherever it would be not likely to be stepped on or messed with by other people. At home, if I use it before bed I shove it under my bed when done; under my couch or coffee table when in the living room, on top of my fridge in the kitchen when looking up recipes. Is it possible that she just stashed it somewhere no one has seen it yet? If I left it under a guest bed at someone's house, it might not be found immediately... especially if I left it on top of a storage box under a guest bed or something. (Yes, this has happened to me.)

I unfortunately doubt it. They did a thorough search of the home. Probably looked under every nuck and cranny for any potential evidence. I really do think the laptop is missing as its mentioned in every article I have read which seems important information. Not reporting her missing for 28 hours sets my hinky meter off as well.

Unless all this talk of her being painfully shy etc is leading people in the wrong direction. Like others have said, her online persona is clearly far from shy, so for all we know, she could be very active/social online and chat to all sorts of people. Plus she has been seeing her boyfriend for a few months, so clearly doesn't lack all social skills.

I guess if I was a teenager planning on runnning away (and had sent a message asking who would miss me), then I might take my laptop with me to stop the police or anyone from going through it to find out who I'd been in contact with previously, and what my plans were. That too if I was planning on going off with someone I'd met online secretly.

So, now thinking about it, I think it is believable (along with other scenarios) that she may have planned to meet up with someone she'd met online (but just for a meeting, hence not taking anything with her). And, of course, meeting up with someone could have gone wrong very quickly.

However, I still find it strange that she would go out without her purse or debit cards - unless she had cash on her that hasn't been mentioned. And I still find it strange that she apparently read her best friend's text but didn't reply to it.

Courtney Bicker sent a regular greeting to the 16-year-old – who read the message but did not reply – last Thursday morning.

Becky was last seen just minutes later and left home with no spare clothes, make up, purse or phone charger.

Her phone has been switched off ever since and police say her disappearance is totally out of character.

Becky‘s desperate family describe her as an ‘introverted’ schoolgirl who would not even go to the shop by herself.

They have tearfully pleaded for her to get in touch or return safely to her home in St George, Bristol.

Courtney said the last person Becky texted was her boyfriend Luke Oberhansli, 17, to make plans for later that day but he didn’t reply because he was at the dentist.

Police forensics teams have conducted “routine” searches of his home and the house Becky shares with her father Darren Goldsworthy, 51, and his wife Anjie, 49.

And yet, they also say she left the house on her own, didn't come back to sleep there overnight and yet she was only reported missing the following afternoon ????
