the only thing he is being dishonest about is how the murder really happened and the disposal of the body. his reason for lying is to take the blame for everything so SH doesn't go down with him. he's made a vow to her at some point that this is what he will do and he is sticking to it. what does he have to lose?

Or, could it be that he is just trying to save his own skin - if he admits that SH was in any way involved, it could be far more likely the court/jury would believe that the whole situation was very much pre meditated - and he ends up with a murder conviction and a long, long sentence.

So she heard somebody come down the stairs then the door slam, whereas NM says he waited to hear her come in from the garden then slammed the door (no stair stomping)

[h=3]'I went to have a cigarette then watched TV'[/h]Hoare is now being asked questions about the day Becky was killed in February this year.
She and Matthews drove round to Becky’s home around 11am.
Hoare said she went straight into the kitchen to find one of Anjie Galsworthy’s cigarettes. Then she went for a smoke outside in the back garden.
She could hear Becky’s music playing upstairs.
When Hoare came back into the kitchen she heard Becky leave the house.
She told the jury: “I heard somebody coming down the stairs and the front door shut. Nathan was sitting on the sofa - he was on his tablet or his phone and the TV was on.
“I assumed he put it on.”
Hoare said she watched TV until Anjie came home from a hospital appointment about 90 minutes later.

Excellent we have a time span now. So 90 minutes between them arriving and Anjie coming home
