[h=3]Prison has changed me completely'[/h]Ireland told the jury he was born in Scotland and moved to the West Country when he was a schoolboy.
His parents split up when he was aged 12 an Ireland went to live with his mum.
He is from a family of nine.
Ireland has been in custody since his arrest in March.
Ireland told the jury that since his arrest he has been refused medication he has taken since the age of 12.
He said: “I don’t eat and I don’t sleep - it has changed me completely.”

JI says there was “little, if any supervision” at work, and they used ot watch films on their laptops, or go off and get food. #beckywatts

Bizarre - surely that is not allowed

edited to add ........ it must surely be non prescription medication which JI feels he needs but which the prison doctor has deemed not necessary - otherwise dont see how it could be withheld

Unless the prison doctor has deemed that he didn't need the medication in the first place but even so...controversial

JI - "I don’t eat and I don’t sleep - it has changed me completely.”

Now that's the kind of thing I might have expected SH to say!

Unless his 'medication' is one that's not licenced for use for his condition, such as cannabis oil?

JI was working nightshifts. He says there little supervision, 'we used to watch films… I used to watch sport on my phone' #BeckyWatts

perhaps he is blaming his old behaviour on his medication?

From the age of 12 though? I'm thinking ritali used for ADHD - a lot of teenagers around that age are "diagosed" with ADHD...Yes I know there is genuine cases of ADHD but it was a popular go to at one stage for naughty Lil s@@ts

If he has a DIAGNOSED condition and he has been refused a previously PRESCRIBED medication to help with that condition then I'm gobsmacked.

ETA- I meant prescribed not diagnosed.

I don't understand if it was Ritalin why it would be withheld?

Indeed. It must surely be non prescription, something JI felt he needed, but something the ( prison ) doctor did not deem necessary.

Perhaps he had never been diagnosed officially - I know a lot of cases where GPS prescribed Ritalin for kids who were naughty or boisterous under the guise of them having ADHD without undertaking proper examinations.

Or perhaps it was deemed that it was helping him - idk

My son takes medication for ADD/ADHD, and is diagnosed with an autism-type condition. He is also prescribed medication to aid sleep.

Its a controlled drug, which he takes on school days only to aid concentration. It is monitored and the dosage is altered now and again, if it isn't seen to be working. From what I've researched due to having my reservations about giving it to him, it isn't recommended that they are taken long term, and I think often a break is seen as beneficial. I also have heard of people being misdiagnosed in childhood, so perhaps the prison doctor deemed it wasn't the best course of action for him as an adult.

If he isn't sleeping, maybe he was taking a medication to aid sleep, which has been withdrawn. My son takes a hormonal sleeping aid, which isn't a sleeping tablet.

JI describes KD as a mate - and he would go for a smoke at work ‘at the same time as Karl’ #BeckyWatts
