BIB So what is this in reference to or are we to assume Danielle is mistaken/is a liar?

And who was "they" who were going to get a cut of the money. Him and his brother or his brother and JP or his brother and JI.

  • #402
I am thinking JP using "hiding" may be individual interpretation because it has been as equally reported as her using the word "storing". JMO
Thanks for this, I thought it had been confirmed as "hiding". It'd be good to clarify that either way. Still, the deposit for a house stuff is pretty incriminating on its own.

It could also just be a throwaway phrase, not necessarily meaning anything criminal. But then KD does have form for cannabis offences, so it might have related to something like that.

True. I'll apply exactly same level of scepticism though against all the testimony, whether it's Shauna or Donovan, regardless of my initial and continuing opinion/gut feeling that he, indeed none of them, knew they were handling/hiding a body.

I read it as KD meaning that he - and JP by default of being his partner - and JI because he helped, would be the ones getting the money
I didn't think it referred to DD at all, because, in the end, although he had waited up to help, he was not needed.

Something I read today that I hadn't seen before was that once SH got a solicitor on March 1st, she gave police a statement saying she was going to reply "no comment" to any further questions. However on March 2nd she did give more info. March 2nd was when NM confessed!

So if NM had carried on saying no comment instead of confessing, it looks like she would have carried on saying no comment too!

In a further interview on March 1, by which time Hoare had a solicitor, she gave a prepared statement saying she would say no comment to all other questions.

But on March 2 Hoare was re-interviewed and told police how the home she shared with Matthews in Cotton Mill Lane was jam-packed with clutter, thanks to Matthews' hoarding.

In that interview she told police that, on February 20, she and Matthews went to Crown Hill intending to wash up, vacuum and take the dog for a walk.

She recalled, however, that Matthews told her he had to go and help a friend and he drove off in his car between about noon and 4pm.

She said: "I didn't ask him where he had been. I had no idea what he was doing. I presume he was helping a friend out."

Just cause of the previous sentence i read it as himself and his bro. getting a cut of the money
However as nothing is verbatim here, it's very difficult to be certain.

Make sense. It's a bit vague though isnt it, Wish they'd probed his colleague a little more.

Todays's court session taken from "UK & Eire database for all crimes against children" and from "The Bristol Post" is now available in my OneDrive.

The link for it will be, until the end of Becky's trial, underneath here as my signature.

This is the way I could find to show my simpathy and my wish for JUSTICE for BECKY :frown:

DD: "I am here now and he can't even bother to pick up his head and look at the family and see that he has destroyed their lives."
I take my hat off to this guy

So if WAS asleep on the sofa, he'd have been there when they went into the lounge, when JI stayed in the kitchen. He's claiming he was in "bed" though. MAybe he didn't want his boss to know he was staying at his brothers rather than having a permanent address.
Or maybe he did fall asleep on the sofa bit then moved to bed... or perhaps it's different days ...I don't remember what nights I fall asleep in bed or sofa

Aha ... deleting specific texts from one person IS dodgy though not enough to have him on remand for 5 months in my opinion.
Wasn't it all texts between those dates...not too strange I do it to bump memory all the time

If it meant not being accused of helping cover up a murder and spending 5 months in jail ... yes! Here's my pass code PLEASE be respectful that my girl has sent me cheeky pics ...
Again it goes back to some people's fear (rational or not) of police

Does this explain why KD and JI initially left their work place in JIs car rather than taking the van straight away.

From this snippet, it does seem that KD agreed with Mr Bignell that taking a work van would not be a good idea. Plus we know from yesterday's testimony, that JI was on a final warning with the Company.

( or could be my earlier thought, that a van would not work well, having to transfer NM, SH, child, JI and KD from Southmead to CML )

Mr Bignell said the pair then discussed taking a white van used to transport items around the Airbus site in Filton.

"What they were doing didn't sound very legal," he added.

"I said it wasn't worth taking the work van, it's not worth losing your job over. Karl did turn around and said he thought I was probably right."

Mr Bignell said Demetrius and Ireland then left the workplace and Ireland's Ford Fiesta disappeared from the car park.

Later, Mr Bignell walked to the car park and saw the car had returned but a white work van was missing.

Here's a quote from today's Bristol Post article

Demetrius denied he slept on the sofa and had instead he insisted he spent the night in his bed.

I don't know if DD is completly innocent and simply in the wrong place at the wrong time or if he was trying to help his brother with the dodgy things, hoping that some money could be won by him with the help.

My doubts are simply because he deleted the texts, there are the discrepancies between what he says and what his colleagues and manager say and also the doubts about being asleep in bed with headphones or being on the sofa. In a completly truthful statement there is no place for these doubts as all has to be right and no discrepancies can be found.

But I have to give credit to Donovan Demetrius in one thing so importante and heartwarming amongst all the coldness and lack of empathy we have been shown since day one from all the defendants until now:

He had words a HUMAN BEING would have. He spoke the way many of us would have spoken - with compassion and humanity.

He addressed NM and his frustration and disgust could be felt. He was even critical of his own twin brother!

So, because of this, he is the only defendant so far for whom I have some simpathy and I do hope he is really not guilty and is able to pick his life back and give it a good outcome.

Re the charges against NM and SH

Because the kidnap charge is Conspiracy to Kidnap, am I correct in thinking that if this charge cannot be proven against SH, then it will also mean NM is found not guilty on that count. As he cant conspire with himself.

If so, a pity they did not also charge NM with a sole kidnap offence, as he has basically said that was his plan.

Donovan Demetrius talked of 'dodgy dealings'
Employees at the store Donovan Demetrius worked at said in the week leading up to his arrest he was "unusually quiet" and spoke of "dodgy dealings" with his brother.

Demetrius was a lead sales manager at Home Bargains, in Bedminster, where he had worked for nine months.

But in the week leading up to the arrest of Matthews and Hoare for murder, on March 2, colleagues say the usually "bubbly" employee had become "quiet, reserved and withdrawn from conversation.

Colleague Danielle Wood, who worked with Demetrius during the week of February 24, said she had heard a conversation where he mentioned "dodgy dealings".
During that week he was a lot quieter, he kept himself to himself, he was not his bubbly self.

– DANIELLE WOOD
A conversation came up saying how tired he looked and he said he had been up all night waiting for his brother, to go and do some dodgy dealings.

He said he was waiting up for his brother but his brother had come back and said he had already done it and they were going to get a cut of the money but he didn't know how much.

– DANIELLE WOOD
His manager, Benjamin Fairley described Demetrius as a "real asset to the company" who had been improving and improving since starting the job.

But said the week leading up to his arrest he had turned up to work looking visibly tired.
He did look tired, as his manager I asked his whether he had been out. He replied to me 'My brother asked for my help with something, he ended up not needing me, I fell asleep on the sofa, it was a late night.

Thank you and just jumping off your post.
In both of these ppls statement DD says he was asked to help but did not end up helping. So why was he charged and held for actually helping?
I understand he deleted some texts off his phone but did they recover incriminating text?
I must be missing something.
