<rsmb>.

Even at that point, they may have still believed it was stolen goods or drugs - and with NM and SH being arrested, the police would have been checking out all of their movements (NM and SH's movements) ....... so at some point, the police would be looking to see what was in the shed. I can believe at that point, they could still have been naive enough to think it was something other than Becky.

Hmmm not so sure about that.

Karl Demetrius, 29, and his girlfriend, Jaydene Parsons, 23, admitted at an earlier hearing at Bristol Crown Court to a charge of assisting an offender but they maintain they "did not know or believe" the bags contained Becky's body.
...
Karl Demetrius says he believed it was cannabis but became increasingly suspicious that the contents related to Becky Watts.
Jaydene Parsons says that she only formed the belief that the bags were related to criminal activity during the evening before her arrest.

I took their "sort it later" comments to mean they would sort out getting rid of them out of the shed - to save themselves. I don't think they would have been thinking of helping NM at that point, after he had put them in that position.

Yeah "sort it" could mean anything... if related to the stuff in their shed it could mean moving it, looking in it, reporting it. We'd need to see the rest of the conversation for context. But at that stage despite the 10k I don't think they'd have had any loyalty to NM to the point where they'd want to help him. They'd be worried about themselves. Had NM not told police where the body was so soon after being charged they may even have contacted police themselves. I dont think they even had a full day after his confession did they?

I don't think they would have been thinking of helping NM at that point, after he had put them in that position. Remember too, they hadn't received their money at that point, and with NM in custody, they weren't likely too - so nothing in it for them any more.

BBM exactly this. I doubt NMs welfare entered their minds, it was all about saving themselves.

Thats the night they took KP some MCdonalds? It could be the sort it from JI was referring to that, but JP's relax makes it sound like someone was getting stressed about something so yes maybe this is when they'd clicked that they might have something more than clothes or weed in their shed. Probably heard/read the news that NM had been charged with murder that day.

IIRC Monday 2nd March (9pm??) was when the Crimewatch episode regarding Becky's disappearance was aired.

ETA NM's confession to police was as about 9:45pm on 2nd March so I doubt they knew about that. There were rumours flying around on FB about Becky's remains having been found before it was announced by Police early on Tuesday 3rd though.

I also wonder why NM chose to put one or two body parts in the freezer. Behind every action, there is a thought, even if it's illogical, so what was he thinking? Was this particular part starting to smell? Did he intend to store all parts in there but changed his mind midway? Was the freezer full and he could only fit one part?
I suppose we'll never know the answers. I agree, it was a huge risk that SH could open it unless he told her not to, and that in itself should seem strange. JMO

I think the part that wasn't was the torso , which I'm assuming was too big to fit in.

I think 'items relating to Becky Watts' could have meant a weapon, blood soaked clothes and things like that. I honestly think that a dismembered body of someone's step sister is really the last thing a person would consider.

Morning

I realise that is limited info, from the snippets we are reading, but to me, that sounds as though KD was the one panicking or worrying about exactly what was in the shed...as both JI and JP seem to be trying to calm him down.

And that would fit with what he said about becoming more and more convinced it was related to Becky rather than weed.

Apologies for my sarcasm, but I thought it was rather an obvious answer and your post came over as belittling and a bit shouty.

Peace. :)

1. I don't know. How would they know that - if there were no freezer burns. It was likely freezing cold temperatures overnight in the shed in February, and if they had only been in the freezer for a day or two it may be hard to tell.

2. most houses have plugs in the hallway - cooker has no relevance to the freezer.

3. even so, I think a freezer is probably an essential for people who may buy frozen junk food/ready meals/nuggets/chips etc. I'm sure they didn't have takeaways every day and I doubt they prepared meals from scratch in their kitchen using ingredients. The policeman said he doubted the kitchen could be used.

4. I saw a microwave oven in the bathroom. could have used an extension cord.

So there really is no proof the freezer wasn't in use.

If NM didn't want to freeze the body parts why not just hide them amongst the rest of the junk in the house? I maintain that NM took a risk by putting body parts in the freezer, after so carefully hiding the body in a locked bathroom (if you believe that - I don't). SH could have opened the freezer because there was a smell around it (if it wasn't on).

ETA - I think it is something the jury will likely ponder. That there was no guarantee SH wouldn't have opened the freezer, so he wasn't trying to hide it from SH at all.

And here lays the problem with the written word ... I hadn't written my comment to belittle or be shouty. It was a pondering question. If I could make my phone write in italics then I would've made my "WOULD" italic and not capitals ... but hey ho ...

It wasn't a particularly cold winter this year and temperature towards the end of February into March were not freezing or below.

If we've heard from the trial that they didn't cook other than toast then I'm inclined to believe that they didn't and that they didn't use an extension cord to use the microwave which was piled high to cook ready meals etc AND*italic* I trust the forensics/pathology.

Although it says the messages were recovered from Ireland and parsons phones we don't know if they were sent messages or received messages ... snapchat is an app that's used a lot by people up to no good in one way or another as the messages disappear after 1 to 10 seconds and if the receiver screen shots what you've sent them then you get a notification that tells you so ...

Just had a search on Twitter. Although not charged at this point, the first mention I can find of being arrested "on suspcion of" is at 8.24 on March 2nd(not sure if thats UK time or not though)

28 yr old man & 21 yr old woman arrested on suspicion of kidnap and murder of #BeckyWatts

At that point the couple arrested weren't named though.

We haven't heard that at all. We just heard they had a toaster in the bedroom. The kitchen shows empty baked bean tins and quorn packets and a sink full of saucepans. They cooked!

Jaydene saying she only began to realise the night before arrest that the items may relate to illegal activity is absolute bull! - that's like someone who gets caught out cheating on a partner and says 'I was going to tell you' ... she knew it was something illegal from the start and was happy to take the cash reward for being involved, it's no wonder she's pleading guilty.

Yes, good point. If the messages were from KD, could have been the other way round, with KD trying to keep the other two calm, in the face of rising concern.

She sometimes cooked in the kitchen with difficulty, she said, but essentially lived from the bedroom with a toaster and kettle.

Actually, SH says she did do some cooking.

Forensics doesn't cover the actions of SH, it is up to the jury to believe or not, that she wouldn't go to the freezer. If not, why not? Reasonable question. If it was out of bounds, when and why?

True. When they were arrested on 28th they were not named.

Still think it sounds like the Snapchat stuff was when the FB rumours were rife

The court is told Ireland sent a Snapchat message to Jaydene Parsons - who admits assisting an offender - saying he had seen Facebook statuses stating Becky had been found.

I don't think the freezer was plugged in either. The pathologist would have been able to detect this from changes at a molecular level. I think the dampness in the salt crystals was caused by the salt acting as a dehumidifier in the shed environment.
I think things were so far gone in that house there was no rhyme or reason or routine to anything. Things that we might imagine that everyone does were just out the window - get up, have a wee, have a cup of tea, take a shower and get dressed.
Come home, bath the baby, clean jimjams, cook a supper from whatever's in the freezer, more tea and watch the telly.
Any semblance of normal life impossible.

Morning lovelies!! So who are we hearing from today? I'm hoping for KD/JP.

I will be glad when this trial is finished, it's affecting my real life too much!

No reason to think the fridge freezer in the kitchen wasn't plugged in though. Theres Nesquik milk shake mix next to it, presumably for milk that was kept in it, empty yoghurt pots and empty quorn packets...
