Wow, this is new information! I clicked on the link and I couldn't find that sentence. Has SH really admitted she knew about a kidnap plan?

It's a couple of paragraphs above the picture of the lady in the black hijab. Use CTRL and F and search "Shauna" and you'll find it.

"The recent case of case of Shauna Hoare, convicted with her boyfriend Nathan Matthews of killing Bristol teenager Becky Watts, could also be affected by the ruling.
She claims she knew Matthews wanted to kidnap Becky to have sex with her but was not with him when he throttled her, although she was in the house."

As I said it could just be an error in the reporting unless they've slipped up by mentioning something they shouldn't have had access to.

Becky Watts father 'would pull the lever himself' if death penalty was available

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-35778474

"I don't think I've had justice. If they were going to hang him I would pull the lever so nobody else would have that guilt," said Mr Galsworthy.
"This past year has mostly been nightmares or night terrors actually.
"I feel so helpless. The recurring dream is I'm seeing what's happened from a sort of third person standpoint. I'm watching it but they can't see me. There's nothing I can do to help her."

Hmm..as much as I've always stood up for the dad when others doubted him I do believe that the composure that he showed throughout the whole ordeal is now dwindling. Unfortunately it seems that he will release any old drivel to the press nowadays just to get Beckys name in the papers...it's quite sad actually

I really don't know. I mean to even remotely put yr self in Anji and Darren's shoes. It's beyond belief. As Tanya (Beck's birth mom) stated in an interview. Around the time of Becky's funeral. While praising the work done by the Funeral home who took loving care in making Becky as beautiful as always. But the one thing that would burn in her memory til she herself died. Would be the pretty ribbon placed over Becky's wrists where those animals had sadistically dismembered the sweet girl. For Their own grotesque fantasies.
No family should ever have to endure that. What made it worse was the perpetrators were 'family' such a total headf#$k.
This will unfortunately go down in history. Similarly as Fred and Rose West. Myra Hindley and Ian Brady.
Except now. Unlike 20 years ago. We have the WWW. which brings all the information right into yr home. Rather like we are here at Websleuths. Bringing justice hopefully to unsolved cases. Or information to pass on to LE. We CAN and DO help.
Becky's family can patch their lives together. They've a strong bond nothing and no one can ever replace Becky. Just time is a great healer.

Book n possible 'film' *shudders*
Book could be interesting as a lot of things were said n were disjointed. A lot of things they weren't at liberty to say. Due to the investigation underway.
Was there a feud in the family? Rivalry even between siblings and step siblings.
The family structure was rather confusing. Especially in the early days of the case. It'd be good to hear about the 'family's' point of view.

Yikes! Some close family member are REALLY not happy with the contents of 'Darrens' book!

Personally, I don't think there would ever be a right time but barely a year's gone by and I certainty think it's too soon and the person I feel most for is Becky's brother Dan :( my heart is breaking for him all over again!

I feel very sorry for Dan. Seems to be caught in the middle. I really don't understand the need for a book especially when there are so many old wounds in that family. Very sad.

I've just finished the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in the case. Darren seems to be just a regular decent bloke who was hit by a huge tragedy. The family dynamic is all explained and there are some interesting stories about Nathan and Shauna. I don't see this as him cashing in, it would have been cathartic for him to write it.

Beckys mum doesn't come across as mum of the year in the book (some kind words were said about her too though) so I'm guessing that is who is unhappy about the book.

Just read the first 4 chapters (sampler) and it's well written and I agree, Darren seems to be an average bloke trying to keep his family together. Becky's mum doesn't come off so good, no wonder she's been quiet, what can she say?
It's sad that Becky and Dan had a stint in foster care, life wasn't that grand for them either. By Darren's description, Nathan as a child seems relatively 'normal' except for his possessiveness over his mum and jealousy towards Becky.

I'm tempted to buy it to find out when the 'madness' begins. After following the trial, I believe NM has narcissistic personality disorder (covert), which accounts for his feelings of shame but not remorse or guilt. His behaviour and demeanor including the hoarding seems to fit, along with seeking a partner to be his parent which I think Shauna fits the bill.

This is just my opinion, it's neither here nor there, he's a depraved human being who knew right from wrong and deserves life in prison. Imo, he will never feel empathy or compassion for anyone, he will wallow in self pity and his grandiose fantasies, he's beyond help.

Just read NM and SH have had their appeals denied.

Good.

I've read a few snippets of the book. I've seen the heartache it's caused from all of the fallout that this has raised. Regarding Becky and Dan's past. And the pain of being a mother to a convicted murderer. I soo wouldn't want to walk in their shoes. The collateral damage that these 'ordinary' families have been and are going thru.
My heart feels so heavy for them all. There's never gonna be a proper 'closure' cuz NM nor SH I don't think would tell why where what and when.
Maybe they might to a National Daily Paper. Ya know. To put some cash into their retirement funds for when they get out. Or in SH'S case probably a face job. As she's out before him.
This is tearing lives marriages relationships apart. Families that stood 'shoulder to shoulder' every single day since Becky went missing. They have conducted themselves flawlessly throughout.
I'm sorry but I do think that Darren releasing the book now. A year after Bristol's Angel was laid to rest.
Was a bit too soon. Darren put his side of the story. And his wife's Anjii. But Darren has a first wife Tanya. Who is Dan n Becky's mom.
Now this is where they're at right now. Arguing about the past. And I can't see it being a happy ending.
Did Darren do enough to include the 'wider circle' of family?
Seems not..
Anyways I've been bumping my gums far too much now...

R.I.P Bristol's Angel ♡

Here's hoping the 3 judges vote the same way....

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/...e-rejects-killers-appeals-against-convictions

The couple found guilty of killing the Bristol teenager Becky Watts have lost the first stage of their appeals against their convictions and sentences.

The pair have launched appeals but it is understood that having reviewed the papers, a single judge has rejected them. It still remains open for the pair to take their appeals to a panel of three judges.

  • #998
They seriously need to 'do' their time. Both are mentally unstable.
Hope their appeals left get thrown out of court!

I was so happy to see the judge threw out their appeals and I agree Alyce. If they take it to the panel of 3 judges here's hoping they do the same!

Also, I think I may have to buy this book..

Won't ever happen. Newspapers and broadcasters have codes of practice to prevent payments to criminals for their accounts.
