Just heard the news about the remains it is horrifying and incredibly tragic. I will never understand crimes like this. Thanks for all your posts and updates.

That could explain the hush hush over who had been arrested.
I had originally thought everything was so hush because it was a family member, but if it was this, and it was members of a particular community there would be national outrage and would start a whole chain of events with political repercussions.

I must admit, the thought occurred to me, too. At least they would want to be certain of the facts before they pushed that button. In the case I linked to, above, offences occurred in at least one property in Barton Hill:

As an aside, the Oxford report has been released today.

To be honest with you- due to the ages of the suspects- ie all under 30... I am leaning towards there was some kind of fight that escalated resulting in her death- followed by panic. Roping others in to help. I have other vague reasons to believe this as well. I would hate to think this was a deliberate planned cold blooded murder.

But my theory collapses at the same time as it would make far more sense to call an ambulance/ police than what happened.

Could drugs be involved? Could the suspects have been high on something which made them do something drastic rather than being found out? Just all my own mere speculation and nothing based on facts- the motive is what really confuses me. A shy, harmless enough from what we have been told, 16 year old CHILD.

Anyone view The Sun article yet?

Hi, new here. This is the case that made me decide to join WS after I had been reading other cases for a while. What I am thinking, of course only speculation, why did the uncle say that it was no part of the father's side? Where was the father? Also, the Watts came out saying it wasn't them after the 7 arrests were made. Where are the Glasworthy's after these further arrests have been made? Just an idea.

:welcome: to WS :)

Alternatively, it could just be that the Joanne Yeates/ Christopher Jefferies episode is has been embedded into the minds of Avon and Somerset Police.

Quaint isn't really the term I'd have chosen to describe Barton Hill.

No but I can see how to an American it might seem quaint. The small houses, the gables...the winding roads are all very different to a normal neighbourhood in the USA.

Firmly, the current Chief Constable is the one that had to apologise to CJ, I doubt he wants to make a habit of it.

Source of names is the same person that got the body rumor wrong so take it with a pinch of salt.

Oh thank you, I must have skipped over that info as I said I am new.

This whole situation is so sad and horrible. I think a big thing to note is how close they have been searching to her boyfriend's house. She said she was heading to see him, yet he wasn't home because he was at the dentist. Could that mean that she was there waiting for him and ran into trouble? Maybe these people were high or she caught them breaking into his house or SOMETHING? Ugh, I have so many different theories swimming in my head I just want to know what happened and how somebody could be so evil to dismember another human being?

I obviously don't know what you mean, I just liked the neighborhoods. I know nothing about the cities that are mentioned, and was just curious about the housing.

I don't think anyone meant to be mean Leah. :) I think that they found it funny because to your typical Brit it doesn't look that quaint but if the shoe was on the other foot we'd see your neighbourhoods and think the same but you might tell us differently!

Oh and I'm editing to say don't stop asking questions! It's good to be curious and I've learnt so much about the US on this site it'd be good to return the favour!

I noticed a few of the posters here who were heavily pointing fingers at the family are no longer posting. A few are and have admitted regret, which is admirable, but a few just left.

I think the U.S. equivalent to this council housing is our public housing, or Section 8, housing. Much of it is in older neighborhoods and on the surface the charms of some of the old buildings belie the current state. In some of the areal views of Barton Hill and a few other places, the yards seemed filled with garbage and old items....you can't see some of that from the street view.

If you want to know what happened you have a long wait ahead of you. If and when the suspects are charged there will be nothing disclosed until there is a trial. That could be six months to a year or more away.

Leah! Oh bless your heart! on a terrible day you managed to make me giggle, you got the replies you did as you saying Bristol is quaint is like us saying 'Ooh your Bronx/trailer parks/insert some place not so nice' look so cool :)

Although a lot of social housing now is more modern and as I mentioned before, less ghettoised (I.e. More spread out rather than on estates), there are still council estates with older properties. I totally agree - you can tell a lot about a neighbourhood by the way it is cared for IMO and if there's rubbish in gardens I think it says a lot about an area.

I hope this is not breaking the rules admin- somebody has posted a photograph of a newspaper article on twitter just now, naming one of the arrested suspects in print. Is this admissible now as main stream media?
