Next hearing for Nathan Matthews 26 March. Judge sets "tentative provisional" trial dates for September or October.

Just seen that........ so have they brought SHs next date forward, bcos her date was April 2

good to see an early trial date ( relatively speaking ) for the family's sake

Yes, so glad we don't have a system like Canada here in the UK, I followed the case of Nathan O'brien and his grandparents and people were saying that from the suspect being charged to the trial will likely take 2 years or more!

#BeckyWatts: Nathan Matthews trial could start in September with 1,200 exhibits to be examined http://ow.ly/K0nX8

From the above link

The judge acceded to his request that both she and Matthews attend the crown court for a hearing on March 26, when the could be joined by other people who are currently the subject of an ongoing police investigation

1,200 exhibits ! .......... yes, makes sense to have their hearing on same date , with view to being able to set trial date

Be interesting to see how many * others * will be joining them

Yes, sexual abuse would fall under the umbrella of my speculation that she was going to "tell", and was silenced. Strongest possibility, actually.

Exactly what crossed my mind, and combined with her social anxiety and other issues, it seems like a fair interpretation
Poor girl, how sickening.

Sounds as if they expect to be able to charge at least one other

If I were them I would be more worried about not being charged based on the views of the 'lynch mob' that have been posting on Facebook.

Some peoples perception of what is "run down" may be different to others. Rubbish and junk in the garden or back yard, the general area, the fact it is most likely social housing etc etc could all be translated into "run down area" which then becomes "run down house" in the media's chinese whispers.

I know that where I live has a bad reputation, and many people would never even consider living here, but I have never had any issues, the neighbours are all just normal families and I am quids in because the rent is cheaper than if I lived even 1/2 a mile away in a so called "good area".

Also, when people move into social housing in the UK, a lot of the time the interiors are stripped bare, no flooring, no wallpaper etc, and they are given a grant to help decorate it. It is completely possible for a ****** house in need of repair to be cosmetically well kept and actually look quite nice.

I am intrigued to know what word was starred out.

I didn't say that it is forgivable or that she shouldn't face the full consequences for her actions. I said it is an understandable reaction. Not understandable from a moral perspective, but as a psychological reaction to such an extremely distressing event. Sadly this type of reaction is not uncommon, there are so many instances where family or friends have assisted an offender in some way. That doesn't make it any less terrible though of course.

We don't know what she has actually done to assist him at this stage, but I certainly think she should be held fully accountable for everything she has done. Whatever she did do is certainly exasperated by the fact she has a relationship with Becky's family.

Perhaps he threatened her with a similar fate if she didn't help him? Not saying I necessarily believe that, just an idea.

I was also trying to guess but not enough stars for what I was thinking.

On a different point I agree, people views as to what constitutes as run down however there's as difference between an area being run down and a house.

Most LAs have also stopped issuing decorating grants - even when they did they were minimal.

I'll post something longer about my thoughts on this when I have the time and energy...

I thought the house in Wilton Close (was it) looked more "run down". Perhaps that was the house referred to, and somewhere along the way there have been crossed wires. As Wallace said, mistakes just get copied ad infinitum in the press.

It got a bit silly yesterday, lots of people frustrated by lack of information making huge leaps based on assumptions that were at times so odd they became funny and almost surreal.
...
The fact is that no one is going to get answers until the legal process is underway.

I truly don't see anything funny in people's assumptions that have been presented here. Most, if not all of the assumptions presented have been based on the few details that we know are true. It's all part of the process of understanding something which is incomprehensible.

The creative mind is a wonderfully intuitive thing. I'm interested in the scenarios that sleuthers come up with.

I'm guessing that it started with S and ended with Y and rhymes with kitty

Yes the house in south mead would certainly come under the umbrella of "run down"
