Yes, and since it normally takes about 5 minutes to smoke a cig he really was running the risk of her coming back in. I still think they agreed that she and the child should go outside for a while.

Imo, she was outside smoking & feeding bunnies, only after the murder, when he was moving remains and suitcases, bags out of the home

I mean IF she was in on the kidnap plan and knew it was happening that day they could have agreed she would scarper for 20 mins (with the child) while he "done the deed" .

ah, I see :)

This could just be badly worded, but 'had a cigarette AND went into the garden to feed the rabbit'. Is this two different things she did, so had the cigarette first THEN went into the garden just to feed the rabbit ...... for up to 20 minutes in the rain?

Years since I had a rabbit but I'm pretty sure I just used to open the cage, put food in the bowl and that just took about a minute max.

I think he's twisted himself up in a few knots today.

Matthews was asked why he did not tell his family what had happened.
He said:”I did not want them to know the truth because the truth is going to be a lot more hurtful.
“I tried to give them hope by giving a picture of her to the police.”

he is mad. (hope that isn't offensive to anyone)

I bow to those with greater knowledge, but weren't there some Building Regs brought in in the 1990s that all new builds had to have a downstairs toilet, and that light switches and sockets were to be situated at accessible height? Council/housing association builds would have been the earliest to adhere to these.
Looking at the picture of CML's landing, the switches are at a low level. So it would not surprise me if there were a small toilet/hand basin downstairs, perhaps under the stairs and referred to in any property description as a downstairs cloakroom perhaps.

I can't decide whether NM is being really sneaky and clever or really stupid. The whole time he's telling the court how he did it and acted alone he's also telling them how he couldn't possibly have acted alone and ensuring while his story loosely fits the forensic evidence it also doesn't fit the evidence well enough for any member of the jury to believe it happened how he's saying. It's like he's purposely dropping SH in it without actually saying she was involved.

This thread was moving so fast I didn't have time to reply to your post earlier.
This is a very good point. Is NM ;

1. Trying to save SH by saying he did it alone
or
2. Doing his best to implicate her, whilst pretending he is not.

If it's Point 1, he is doing an abysmal job.

Longer version of SH's interview on March 3

maybe he is trying to put all the sawing and wrapping in one day so that he can explain how they lived in the house for Sat, Sun and Mon without using a toilet.

and maybe he is going to say the clingfilm purchases are just coincidental - for household use :)

wouldn't surprise me with this one.

I wonder what Shauna thought he was doing with all the clingfilm in the bathroom? Ah for holding the pipe together!

My husband is an architect and apparently building regulations state there must be a downstairs toilet in all local authority properties. Hope this helps.

This is so insane, I wonder if he really thought he was helping his mother when he came up with this absurd kidnapping plan to teach Becky a lesson? I'm going to do this, and then Becky will be neater and nicer to my mother?

RE the longer version of SHs interview, post arrest

interesting that she says she does not know where the idea of kidnap came from - but didnt they discuss knocking out girls and taking them back to the attic on their phones ?
also interesting that she explains about the App on her phone which records all her calls. Presume the police would already know this though if they had examined her phone.

In that March 3rd interview, SH was given plenty of opportunity to think about whether she could recall any mention of "kidnapping" talk, discussions, texts...

The latest video: First thought is that she is remarkably composed considering the situation .

Also re the phones. She clears up the sharing by saying they have one each but he rarely uses his as he can't get a signal so he uses hers yet hers has an app on that records all the phone calls... how strange but also handy if it has the calls to NM's mother the day Becky was killed and NM's call to get a lift from SH's mothers and the call about going out for a meal.

I don't know if you missed it but she said that the messages must have been sent by NM or he'd given her phone to someone else. haha. as if he would message her and reply to himself. and they didn't have any friends - apparently.

I expect she knows that they deleted their call records already.

Her body language is very defensive in the video.

And another thing, NM rarely having a phone signal in the middle of Bristol, a large built up city? Wonder what network he was on.

[h=3]'The point was to get a good outcome'[/h]Matthews told the court he offered Karl Demetrius £10,000 for his help moving items and storing them, and chose him because “he didn’t know anyone else”.
He said it took him, Karl and James Ireland two trips to get the body parts into the van, before they were unloaded into the house.
The former delivery driver said he told the men not to look in the boxes, and watched as Karl and James put them into the shed.
He added another bag - a rucksack - the next day and promised to collect it in a few days.
Asked for his plan onwards, he said: “I tried to think of a plan - drive them out to the sea or something - but I didn’t know.”
Matthews said it was never part of the plan to hurt Becky and said: “The whole point, although it was a drastic thing, it was to get a good outcome.
“Obviously with what happened that’s not a good outcome.”
The judge has now adjourned proceedings for the day.
Court will resume tomorrow morning.

Or, he really did do it on his own, but it didn't happen at all like he says. He's covering something up, which is why his story doesn't make sense.

I still think SH is involved in some of it at least - if only because their stories don't match in crucial places.
