Found Deceased UK - Reece Rodger, 28, from Fife, last seen in the Kinloch Rannoch area, Perthshire, with friends camping by loch, 18 March 2023

This sound like he went off the road after the couple spoke to him. He may have gone off into the woodland for whatever reason. I wonder why they offered assistance?
They didn't speak to him. It's just poor reporting.

They drove past and saw him, stopped and 1 person got out to see if he needed assistance but wasn't able to find him again.

Yep, so according to his partner they didn't speak to him but were attempting to see if he was ok:

"There are no sightings of Reece on any CCTV from either of the two hotels in the area," she continued. "Reece’s phone was off before he was seen at 23.30 hours, he had no headlight, therefore he’s walked for at least 10 mins with no light. The witnesses who saw Reece at this time offered assistance but he had disappeared from view."

"A big search for Reece is set to take place at the weekend to mark two months since his disappearance."

"Reece's family are hoping land searchers, people with drones and those who can help with water searches."

"Shoreline and water searches are now our main focus areas."

Phone data helps pinpoint last known location of missing West Fife dad

Hopefully the weir has been thoroughly searched by now.

RR walked away from his friends and declined assistance from the witness. It sounds like he wanted to be on his own.

I think the interaction between R and the witness would be interesting to know more about (also, was it 1 person? Or 2? The news article just says 'a witness' and 'they'). What was the assistance offered? A headlamp? A cup of tea? An offer to sleep in their tent? (If they were actually camping in a tent there, I have no idea), a lift in the morning? (If the person had a car, etc?). There's many possibilities of what the assistance offered could have been. R might have just wanted to be left alone, might have wanted a lift now and not in the morning, might have felt unsafe to accept help from the witness for whatever reason, who knows. Did R actually leave and continue walking after this interaction?
(Read in the thread there was no interaction. Witnesses in a car stopped to offer assistance after spotting R walking with no headlamp but they could not see him again)

I also wonder if Police releasing the revised time of R leaving the campsite not only alerts possible witnesses of R but also puts pressure on the story being told by the friends. May or may not be anything sinister, they may be hiding something unrelated or may feel bad if there had been an argument or 'banter' etc. I would like to know more about the atmosphere and friendships that night.

"The phone signal was in the vicinity of where the potential sighting was so I can also now confirm it was Reece seen at 2330 hours on the 18th March. This means Reece left the campsite a lot earlier than initially advised."

Yea, I feel there is more to him walking away late at night from his friends. He indicated that he wanted to leave and come home to his partner.

What made his friends say that they thought he went to bed at 11.30? Why that time, when he was already over one hour away?

New underwater search in Perthshire fails to find trace of missing Fife dad

Lancashire-based recovery team Beneath the Surface has assisted with the search since his disappearance.

It visited Loch Rannoch at the weekend to carry out a fresh underwater search for Reece, who lives in High Valleyfield with partner Paula Airzee.

in an update on Facebook, the group said: “We’ve had a few people asking if there is an update from our weekend search for Reece Rodger.

“Over two days we conducted thorough sonar scans of specifically identified areas of concern, including the possible last known location and the east side of the loch, including the dam area with depths ranging from zero to 60 metres.

Another sad outcome

Really sad news, even if not yet confirmed. Do we know the location where this person was found in relation to where Reece was camping/last seen?

If I remember correctly, phone pings put him quite a ways away from the camp, but perhaps that could have been incorrect? Or the loch is big and he circled around? Or he could have been separated from his phone?

Since the shoreline was searched a number of times it looks as if the body has been washed up recently. Unless it was missed.

I think it’s a really nice touch that donations will go to Beneath The Surface, not only thanking them for the work they do but Reece memory can be Lived on knowing they will be searching for others people loved ones. I think it is a great choice of a charity for Reece.
