Richard was reported as being seen in the Wasdale area on Saturday (2nd July).

Richard was last seen wearing a grey baseball cap, grey short sleeve t shirt and long black shorts.

Richard is known to hike and may be in the Scarfell Pike area. He could also be hiking at a different location.

Anyone with information on Richard’s whereabouts is asked to call police on 101.

Always dial 999 in an emergency.

Police would also ask Richard, if he sees this appeal, to contact police on the above number to let them know he is safe and well.

Police are searching for a Newport man who is missing after going hiking in Cumbria.

Richard Miles, 44, was last seen in the Wasdale area of the Lake District on the morning of Saturday 2 July.

A number of mountain rescue teams began a search for Mr Miles on Monday morning.

His partner, Nikki Campbell, from Caerphilly, thanked people for sharing the public appeals for information and for their support.

Cumbria Police said it is concerned for his welfare and is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Officers have said Mr Miles is known to hike and may be near Scafell Pike but could also be walking elsewhere in the region.

The hunt continues for a man reported missing after he went hiking in the Lake District.

Richard Miles, 44, was last seen in the Wasdale area earlier this week and it is believed he could be in the Scafell Pike area.

Police said enquiries were ongoing and officers were following up every lead to try and locate Mr Miles, who is from Gwent.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team members have also been searching for the missing hiker.

There may be some sad news coming through about this. Cumbrian newspaper, the News and Star, is carrying the following report:

"CUMBRIA Police have confirmed a man's body has been found by Mountain Rescue Teams on Scafell late last night (Thursday July 7).

No formal identification has taken place.

A police spokesman said: "Police can confirm that the body of a man, in his 40’s, was found on Scafell, at around 7.16pm today (July 7th), following an extensive search by volunteers from several local Mountain Rescue Teams."
"The man’s family have been made aware of the developments."

Certainly the age and location tie up with what we know about Richard. I can't actually see anything about this on the Cumbria Police website or Facebook pages.

A body has been found in the search for a man who went missing after going hiking in Cumbria.

Richard Miles, 44, from Newport, was last seen in the Wasdale area of the Lake District on the morning of 2 July.

The body was found at approximately 19:15 BST on Scafell on Thursday following an extensive search by volunteers from several mountain rescue teams.

The circumstances are not believed to be suspicious.

Cumbria Police said no formal identification had taken place, but Mr Miles' family have been made aware of the development.

Thanks for posting this. Lord’s Rake is a fun scramble but there are some challenging bits if you venture off the main route. Just such a shame nobody was around - it would have been fairly busy (relatively speaking) in July, I was down the week he went missing and never felt alone on the fells.

Definitely food for thought though, I spend a lot of time in the Lakes and am not great at keeping anyone updated on my routes.
