I won't link as I understand social media isn't allowed, but the area where someone located a makeshift tent/shelter in the forest would fit exactly with him being seen heading up towards Earl Path from Smarts Lane and also the above sighting of him heading back down from the Robin Hood roundabout to the forestry office (which I think is what they're referring to as 'Epping Forest yard'). The area the spotter has indicated is essentially the forested space behind that office. Looks like they've alerted the police and have been assigned a incident number.

What I was thinking. And if this sighter has seen this guy every day, it means, if it is him of course, that RO is still alive. Can't wait to hear. Just hope this person can be ruled out quickly if not same.

Good find! Would have been better if they had mic'd the mum up - had to put on the text as couldn't hear all she said clearly - and recorded somewhere away from the chirping smoke alarm!

Thanks for this.
So it was 7.30pm in the evening of Monday March 22nd as Evidence was leaving for her night shift that R told her he was going to see his local friend. It was the next day when she came home and was cooking food for him to eat the next evening whilst she was at work that she discovered he wasn't home and from the cctv the security guy showed her, wasn't heading in the direction of his local friend's home.
Poor lady. She must be in hell.

I really hope he is okay and the sightings near the roundabout do turn out to be him.

Made me wonder if he just needed a break from his life and tech. If, for example, he had been sending photos of himself to someone and then realised they weren’t who they said they were. Perhaps he needed to be away from his computer because it got too addictive even though it made anxiety or something go sky high. Moo.

His bag wasn’t big enough for a tent, I missed the post about a shelter but it would be fantastic if he’s okay.

The people I’ve known with sickle cell are very careful about getting too cold though as being cold makes them feel really ill. Living rough at this time of the year with this condition would be very hard I think.

Unfortunately this case makes me think of the Liam Smith case from Scotland a few years ago.
I hope there's a better ending here though.

I can't see him having gone there to take a break, he's not taken his medication and he's apparently been diligent in shielding. He's also not carrying enough supplies and isn't suitably dressed, even for someone who is naive about what they'll need.

I hope they can piece together those missing hours too, that could shed some light on why he went to Loughton, with no jacket, in very cold weather.

Also why he took a taxi instead of using the Central Line. He doesn't seem to have been cautious of using public transport from the point of view of his health, but he may have had security concerns (mugging in particular) travelling alone on the underground network.

I think turning around in the last final CCTV image might be some nervousness, about making sure he wasn't being followed. Yet if he had arranged to meet someone who wasn't a usual friend, in the forest, that is quite bold. I'd like to know if he was familiar with the area, as he doesn't seem to have his phone out.

Listening to that interview with his mum I think she tried calling him the following day. I see references in this thread to his phone going off at 10pm but was that the following evening or the same evening? I'm thinking he might have paid for the taxi using his phone, after 10pm. Unless he got to Loughton before 10pm and spent three hours or so there before he was seen on Smarts Lane.

All IMO

Could he have pre-booked the taxi online?

I was so hopeful this morning that he would turn out yo be Robin Hood roundabout guy and LE would have found him already.

Good that there's some progress being made finally. "Searches in and around the forest" doesn't sound very good though. Keeping everything crossed for good news not bad.

The CCTV images from Essex are good quality and quite poignant. You can see he's still wearing his face mask, bless him. Not exactly the reckless runaway look.

I find looking at the cctv images of him poignant too. Please be safe and well Richard

Are they asking volunteers to search ? I know London SAR volunteers are assisting but Epping forest is 6000 acres and 12
miles long.

I could be stating the obvious here, but I hope LE have checked CCTV footage from The Robin Hood (a pub/restaurant selling Thai food which sits on the roundabout). They seem to have a few cameras on the front of the premises. *If* those alleged sightings are accurate you'd likely see RO walking.

Nobody walks here - like I mentioned in a previous post - by the time you get to the roundabout it is totally unpedestrian-friendly. It's a big roundabout, very busy road, and there are no pavements. If I was driving there, I'd certainly be very surprised to see a figure cutting across it etc. and would remember it. Let's hope they clear up those sightings one way or another so the investigation can focus where it needs to.

I'm not fully clear on exact confirmed timeline so please correct me where I'm wrong. But if he was last seen boarding a bus in Ladbroke Grove at 20:44 that really doesn't leave him a lot of time to get to Loughton. That trip by car from that area is over an hour so he'd have to be making very smooth movements from bus to taxi. And then taxi journey would need to be seamless: fast, without traffic etc. It's not impossible on a quiet Tuesday night in lockdown at that time, but I have my doubts that he'd be able to do all of that before 10pm in order to fit the narrative that he pays for the cab with his phone before it goes off/he switches it off. JMO.

I've been searching for the source of the information that his phone went off at 10pm. So far I've only managed to find one reference to it in this thread, but I might have missed the source that they saw. @Sherlock'sBlonde this post UK - UK - Richard Okorogheye, 19, Oxford Student, Ladbroke Grove, West London, 24 March 2021 . I'm not sure it is a confirmed fact at this stage, as I've been unable to find it in any media reports.

Have you watched the video interview with his mother that was posted above last night? I *think* she alludes to the time she tried calling him.

Ladbroke Grove to Paddington 20mins, and then however long it took to get taxi, still leaves around 3 hours to make journey.
