Trump on Saturday said he was working with Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry to send a hospital boat to Greenland, a Danish territory that Trump has said he wants to acquire.

"Working with the fantastic Governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, we are going to send a great hospital boat to Greenland to take care of the many people who are sick, and not being taken care of there. It’s on the way!!!" Trump said.

It was unclear what connection Landry had with the matter or if the post had any connection to the evacuation.

The U.S. Navy has two hospital ships, the Mercy and the Comfort, but neither are stationed in Louisiana.

From: New Greenland health agreement expands Danish hospital access | Euractiv
According to a report from the Greenlandic Health Councils, the country currently has 56 smaller health stations, 11 health centres, four regional hospitals and a national hospital, the Queen Ingrid’s Hospital in Nuuk. Residents mostly use a telemedicine app.
And the healthcare services are free for Greenland residents.

I doubt the US hospital ships can offer any more specialist care than the hospitals on Greenland, so this makes me wonder how many US submarines, and other naval vessels there are around Greenland now, and need to have access to a US naval hospital ship, or if the ship is going there to be waiting for patients to come later on?

I have been onboard one US naval hospital as a visitor in the 1990s, and what I remember, it was planned for basic care, more serious cases were to be transported to other military hospitals on land.

A U.S. Navy sailor was medically evacuated Saturday afternoon from an American nuclear-powered submarine by Danish military forces, according to a U.S. and Danish official.

The submarine broke from its mission and surfaced about eight miles from Nuuk, Greenland, an extraordinary step for a vessel designed to remain hidden beneath the sea in secrecy.

The sailor was airlifted by a Danish Defense Seahawk helicopter, deployed from the Vædderen, a Danish military patrol ship.

It's unclear what the nature of the medical emergency was, but it was not combat-related, according to the U.S. official.

The sailor is being treated at a hospital in Nuuk, Greenland's capital.
