Left his home address at approx 8:30pm 22/3 to visit a friend and phone switched off at 10pm the same day. He doesn't have essential medication on his person or money.

Just noticed this:

phone switched off at 10pm the same day.

So where did it ping last? So roughly 90 minutes after he left home, would have taken him a fair distance if he stayed on the bus he was apparently seen boarding at 8.40pm. Or did he go just half a dozen stops or so, and something occurred later, after alighting?

Why would you lock your room living in your parents house? Even having a lock on your room in your parents house is a bit OTT. It's not like living in a house share with people you may not know so well.
It just seems a bit odd to me.....
IMO.

Not OTT at all! I did in my late teens/20s before leaving home. I wanted some privacy and a feel of my own space and without my mother in and out at will.

But if this was a new thing for him, I wonder if there were maybe things he didn't want his mother to find, for a number of reasons? JMO and speculation.

I read that he has links in Westminster - does anyone have any more specific info than that?

Also the Oxford link. If he did get off the 23 at Marble Arch, he could have got on the Oxford Tube from the same place, just by crossing the road.
Not sure if you’re talking about Oxford street in London here? That’s a possibility if he has links to what they’re referring to as ‘Westminster’, but in case of confusion, nothing to do with the City of Oxford where he was enrolled at university.

I think he means RO could have got the Oxford Tube coach back to Oxford.

That is a costly journey from central London to Loughton by taxi. It seems he knew the location and where he was headed. To meet someone, or because of his possible state of mind and knowing it was a place he wouldn't be found?

All feels quite worrying and I fear the worst.

Good that there's some progress being made finally. "Searches in and around the forest" doesn't sound very good though. Keeping everything crossed for good news not bad.

The CCTV images from Essex are good quality and quite poignant. You can see he's still wearing his face mask, bless him. Not exactly the reckless runaway look.

This is so worrying. He left his home and took a bus, ending up in the W2 area somehow. Paddington is W2, which is where the overground station is for Oxford city. I wonder if he considered taking a train to Oxford for some reason. Then for whatever reason decided against it, or couldnt, so had to rethink.

W2 is approx 30 miles from Loughton. 30 miles by taxi is apart from anything else v costly. I hope the driver might have some insight from any conversation. The mention of Epping Forest makes my heart sink.

Be safe Richard, where are you? :(

All JMO

That is really worrying update. To go to woods ring alarm bells, to travel outside London and to go there at midnight... I really feel for his mum, she must be beyond herself.

Epping Forest has quite a bad reputation. Lots of bodies also of murder victims recovered there over the years. Though it might be nice during the day there.

Fearing the worst at this moment.

Paddington station is only a few stops from Ladbroke Grove. Loughton is in Essex and is a long journey.

He is now known to have taken a taxi from west London to Loughton.

Mr Okorogheye was then captured on CCTV walking alone on Smarts Lane towards Epping Forest at 00:39 GMT on 23 March.

Richard Okorogheye: Police extend search to Loughton

I wonder which part of Smarts Lane. I imagine there going door to door looking for residents’ footage from Ring cameras and such

IMO looks like he’s quite close to the forest high beech meets Smarts ln near the pub

It is a concern. The money side intrigues me a bit - PS5 and taxi ride whilst being 19 and having been shielding. Although of course he could just be careful with birthday money/allowances or student finance.

Why walk along Smart’s Lane? I don’t know the area but a look at the map and it isn’t such an obvious route. Maybe looks different from me the ground eg signage.

Why get dropped off by the taxi and then walk? Why not get dropped off at the destination?

Thats the glimmer of hope for me, about the drop off point I mean.

Being seen last on Smarts Lane, walking directly towards the forest, at that time of the night, unless he had some dodgy reason for being there, I can think of nothing else bar it being somewhere to self-harm.

There is nothing else I can see in that direction apart from the forest. It's the opposite way from any takeaways and houses. The mention of specialist search teams is another worry.
