Found Deceased UK - Samantha Eastwood, 28, Stoke-on-Trent, 27 July 2018 *Arrest*

Flipping heck though - hearing a scream and not checking on it, hope I never do that.

It may not be as simple as somebody just ignoring a scream. In my house there's about 5-6 houses nearby where I would be able to hear a scream from and it would be impossible to determine which direction the noise came from. That's before considering it could have been somebody in a street or back garden. If I didn't see something obvious I wouldn't know where to start with trying to investigate a noise I'd heard.

Of course, when the police turn up to say a neighbor has gone missing and ask if I'd heard or seen anything unusual, it's easy to then put 2 + 2 together and work out where the scream likely originated from.

Bit of a coincidence eh @CoverMeCagney (and hello, long time no speak :) )

Yes they did. Uh-ohhhh.

Yep. Combine with the detail (if true) about BIL and ex doing their own door to door in Samantha's street on Saturday after BIL 'went on holiday' the day before and the tabloids at least seem to be "steering" us a certain way?

I have been looking around the immediate area of Greenside Road and can't really see any CCTV opportunities. There is a traffic cam at the junction of Leek New Road and Baddeley Green Lane but otherwise nothing likely unless a house has its own CCTV but that is unlikely at this point.

Hi Jessie. I'm getting back into things slowly after taking a rest from the internet in the last year. See how it goes.

I hate to say it but I would also probably ignore a solitary scream, though I suppose it would depend how screamy it was as to how alarmed I'd be. I'd be nebbing out of the window or front door and noting any suspicious behaviour and might ask the neighbours whether they heard anything. Lots of people within screaming distance though, so I'd be reluctant to call police without more information. If I was at my mums house (more rural) and heard a scream I'd go check on the neighbours or call 101 as it would be so out of character in a sleepy village.

Oh absolutely Cags, I wouldn't think of calling 101 but I would go and check on neighbours if I heard a scream - and hope they'd check on me too - but I live in a village which suppose makes a difference. Just that awful thought of screaming when in trouble and noone paying attention saddens me so much.

Location is key I think, I lived in a city centre before I moved here and wouldn't have batted an eyelid at the sound of a single scream. Although, again, I will caveat that with I suppose it depends on the type of scream. I've never heard a truly blood-curdling one but if I did I don't think I could rest easy.

It really depends what type of scream and for how long and how often.

Our upstairs neighbor regularly belts out blood curling screams whenever she sees a spider. I ignore it and just hope she will never be in real trouble.

A few weeks ago a woman down the road started shouting something in the middle of the night. At first I thought she had a fight with a boyfriend or something. That time I went out to offer help if needed because she kept on shouting. Turned out someone had tried to break in and police were already on the way.

I wonder what exactly Samantha's neighbour heard.

About the car - if someone was dropped off at her house or came on foot and harmed
Samantha, they could have used her car to take her somewhere and returned the car. Parking how they normally park, not how she would have parked. I wonder what time it was first noticed that her car was parked that way.

Has anything been reported on if she would have usually been asleep around the time the scream was heard? Again, with having lived with a night shift nurse, I feel like she could have likely been sleeping mid day and that would have made it very easy for someone to sneak up on/surprise her.

Just a couple things I’ve picked up in the last few days through the media

1 – Samantha left her keys and purse in the car, which tells me something may have happened which took her by surprise either as she was returning home or about to leave home, this would explain the parking and could coincide with the scream if she was popping out to the shops or something, maybe she tried to reverse away from whatever or whoever had suddenly frightened her? Question is, have they found her phone?

2 – I read that she was reported as missing within 20 minutes of not turning up for work, now I know midwives have to be extremely reliable and have good time keeping, but is that not too soon to raise the alarm? This very much tells me there is more going on here. Maybe she’d been threatened by a patient or someone she knew.

The fact this was deemed as High Risk is likely to do with the circumstances, it would appear that her disappearance was sudden and unplanned, and totally out of character, a dear friend of mine went missing in odd circumstances, similar to this and when I reported her missing to the police they were here and searching her home with an hour. P.s. We had a good outcome, my pal was found eventually, badly hurt and in hospital but found none the less

Hiya, everyone. Sorry to have been drawn back to Websleuths by Samantha’s disappearance ☹️

I’m also wondering about the whereabouts of Sam’s mobile phone. If the police have indeed found it, it may have been what led them to question the mysterious 32 year old man. Perhaps something in the phone messages that pointed to a request for a meetup for whatever pretext.

About Mr. and Mrs. Stirling’s holiday on Friday, it will be interesting to see if it has actually been pre-planned.

Mmmm. Purse missing is a strange one. To me that suggests Samantha had possession of it last. No info about her mobile phone yet, but not being on facebook/twitter myself my purse is very important to me, maybe more important than a mobile.

We’re appealing for information about a purse missing from Samantha’s home. The Radley purse is navy with a blue, pink & orange striped dog on the front has not been found since Samantha went missing on Friday.Anyone with info, please call 101 quoting incident 940 of 27 July

Yeah the purse is missing but bank cards were still in the house. On the other hand the Police haven't said one way or the other if her phone is missing or still working.

I also wonder if her uniform was in the house or not?

Officers will be in Greenside Avenue, Baddeley Green, today as it is a week since the last confirmed sighting of Samantha at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Officers will giving out leaflets asking if anyone saw anything suspicious and appeal for dash cam footage.

Officers are going through a number of calls after Wednesday's CCTV appeal and continue to examine CCTV. Specialist search teams, including the Dog Support Unit, continue to carry out a number of searches at different locations in North Staffordshire. Specialist officers continue to support Samantha's family.
