My point still stands. The Metropolitan Police tweeted at midnight about an arrest calling it a "significant development." That's not something LE is going to do if this is a tampering with evidence charge.

Yes that's possible. But I'd be much more suspicious of an unmarked car and driver calling me over to speak to me before I saw a badge. But for the sake of the perp I can see that would be much easier to be in an unmarked vehicle since I presume most police cars are fitted with tracking devices.

All I can say is a family member of mine is a detective in the Met and she will be devastated by this in terms of the betrayal of public trust and everything they stand for.

Just musing if this police officer is originally from Kent and his parent are still there he may have went home to his mum for help.. it wouldn’t be the first time a mum has helped a son cover up a crime.. JMO.. maybe far fetched.

Is it also possible that an offender arrested in Kent could have been trying to board a ferry or train to France? And a woman could have been assisting him with his attempt to flee the country?

Good point. Possibility they had already made the arrests before the search was conducted. Perhaps something was said that led SOCO back to the specific location.

This is just so awful. Of all the scenarios we've all speculated I'd wager a healthy bet not one of us suspected a PO.

Just to clarify, the parents of SE’s partner state on public forums that they live in Kent. Neither his Mother or Father are serving Met Police officers (according to info in public domain, Facebook, twitter etc)

I find it strange that this small dark car turns onto Poynders Road around the time SE was last seen. How can this person not have witnessed anything?

Question for Londoners... Do all Met Police wear uniform? Always travel in pairs? Drive unmarked vehicles?

New to the forum, and sadly witnessed the investigation by chance this evening on a walk.

Witnessing it in real time - whatever it may turn out to be, brings it home and truly magnifies the severity of the situation.

Re Police in and around London, officers can and do travel in unmarked vehicles, but almost always in pairs. Since the recent lockdown enforcement, as of December, Police presence (particularly vehicles) most definitely has increased in South West London.

This whole situation is extremely surreal.
I went to school and basically grew up 5 minutes from where they have been investigating - even down to CCTV that you've all discussed on here - most of it is my route to and from my day to day life.

Yes I was presuming he was off duty or at the end of a shift.

I've been stopped by an unmarked police car full of plain clothes officers and all that happened is they pulled up, got out, said "Police" while brandishing their ID. I just got a vibe they were OK, a police officer would have that.

There is no City of Kent. Canterbury is the county town. South London, where SE is missing from is not far from the north western border of Kent. Kent continues further south east to the sea.

this is why it might make sense that she knew him. If he was off duty you would be a bit untrusting even if you saw a badge. and if he was on duty you would think he would be on radio/accountable for duty etc

It's such a shame, just because there is one bad apple doesn't mean the whole tree is rotten.

Then he pulls her over in front of Poynder Court.

But someone on the road noted the vehicle and reported it when her disappearance was announced.

He would know to avoid the cameras at King st intersection

all theories are now possible. He already knew her and that is why timings of ending call with bf is all so perfect or he stopped her and forced her into car for breaching covid or something similar... I mean anything could be possible

I agree with the speculation that he was in custody today as the searches were being carried out, and probably formally arrested tonight sometime. But I think he gave some info that led to them searching what and where they did today. JMO, IMO, etc etc etc

Unlikely IMO, as is any theory for ending the call for any reason than it naturally ending (so no endings due to battery death, sudden incidents distracting SE or indeed the mention of a police officer wanting to speak to her), as I feel JL would not have waited until their planned date then next evening to realise something was wrong otherwise. I think the call can only have ended with them naturally hanging up, and JL expecting her to return home safely.
