Do People Think This Guy Could Potentially Be A Serial Killer Or This Is His First Kill?

I thought at one point it was likely to be a serial killer but honestly the location he has picked is not clever if using a vehicle which makes me think he's not very good at it/inexperienced in the kidnap element.

How sloppy it is would suggest it's the first time he has killed.

However with all the forensic activity going on there could be historical incidents. I suppose it will all come to light eventually if he's charged or questioned with anything further.

I think serial potentially, based on where she was found and his background.

Can’t find the words for my comment. Ignore me.

So strange though .. why would you have two cars at home PLUS a motorbike and feel the need to long term hire? I’ve thought it odd that the press mentioned a hire car when he has access to so many vehicles at home!

I suppose we also don't know both cars were operational? Does anyone have the reg and checked if taxed? I know someone checked MOT previously.

During lockdown we've not used one car at all, so have stopped taxing and insuring.

I would imagine if he is going out doing this kind of thing it is less easily going to be traced back to him.

Just to correct you on age of the car .. the two cars taken from his driveway were not new. 100k miles on the clock and almost a decade old. Although worryingly sparkling clean (Seat). That’s not to say they didn’t have GPS or that police hadn’t fitted a tracker. OR we could be talking about the elusive rental car which we haven’t yet had confirmation of.

The back rear (passenger side) wheel arch didn't look clean at all to me. But it could've been a reflection side on.

The sloppiness could be an escalation in risk-taking. I asked a question a while back whether it was possible/typical for serial offenders to ‘regress’ to lesser crimes that presumably gave them less gratification (ie if WC had killed before, and we assume he committed the IE, is the regression to IE after a kill before another kill normal? Could it be explained away as a quick fix or even the murder being so soon after a result of not be ‘satisfied’ with the IE?).

Note: the degrees of crime I’m assigning here are in terms of gratification to a perp, not the impact on victims.

Oh, I assumed the black station wagon/estate was new (purely based on it being shiny and 5k miles?) But, either way, I think they found the GPS SD card for either built-in or third party system that essentially showed them where the car has been for at least the past two weeks.

Speculation only of course..he has been charged with flashing a few days before. That sort of crime as longer term sleuthers will know from Libby Squires can be a precursor to more serious sex crimes. Just now we don't know if this was a sex crime or if the flashing was his first offence. I mean they got his reg so he isn't the sharpest tool in the block. But that is some quick escalation...l think first time to commit murder.

Hello all. I wanted to send everyone a big virtual hug as a lot of tension on here and yet our focus should be on Sarah and the investigations. This isn’t a time for anything but kindness.

Just my own opinion and thoughts but I wonder if EC may have contacted the police. Perhaps once she heard news of Sarah’s disappearance things started to add up. She could maybe have called police and that’s how they got to there’re so quickly and then the ‘assisting an offender’ charge as she had realised the enormity of something she had done, not realising that at the time of doing it. And so their arresting her a formality. Just my thought....

As an ex-mechanic, he may just have an interest in cars, and even buy them to fix up or similar.

Alternatively, there are often good deals on lease cars for public servers workers - I get my car through the NHS as I’m an employee and have to use it for my job.

This seems an especially cold and calculated crime (kidnapping plus murder later on) to be a first murder, I am sure there is so much more to this story =(

At first I thought serial killer based on the sheer scale of the police searches, but I’m not sure now.

I’m more inclined to think his offending was escalating and becoming more brazen. Perhaps he’d been indecently exposing himself for a thrill over the years, but began to need more.

I followed Libby Squires case closely and the culprit (PR) similarly escalated. From voyeurism and stealing intimate items from homes, to masterbating on street corners and eventually rape and murder as his final act. I’m not saying WC stole or committed indecent acts in public, but I do feel he probably frightened women in some capacity before. He doesn’t seem clever enough to have covered up a trail of previous murders. IMO.

Low scale crime - Perhaps. A missing person he knew nothing of the background about? He surely knew they'd spend the time to figure it out.

It feels like the chances of him actually getting to trial are slim. If he doesn't manage to kill himself, others may when he is waiting for trial.

From the indecent exposures to kidnap & murder WC sure escalated fast. We also don’t know (yet) what else may be lurking in his history.

The fast escalation makes me wonder if there was a trigger that caused it and if so what it was. Or was it simply complacency? The more we learn the more answers we’ll get. I wish U.K. trials were televised!

Good theory! JMO but I feel unlikely as we know from media he was being watched for a few days before his arrest. She would have had to keep pretending like normal during that time.

Also we know from media that there was video footage from a bus of his car. That is my thoughts on how they got him.
