Prosecution: 'How long did you plan to kill Sarah?'

Court has resumed.

The prosecution has continued cross examining Lacomba who is in the witness box.

“How long did you plan to kill Sarah? Was it days, weeks or were you in fact planning this from the very time she told you she wanted you out of the house?” asks Ms Morgan.

“I have not killed Sarah Wellgreen,” replies Lacomba.

“She must have just walked out that night, into the dark with no explanation. It would have been entirely out of character for her wouldn’t it.

“You killed her Mr Lacomba so one last time are you going to tell us where that body is,” asks Ms Morgan

“I do not know what happened to Sarah, I did not kill her. If she is dead, I do not know where her body is,” says Lacomba.

Defending Rebecca Trowler QC reexamining asks Lacomba: “On the 16th October, were you expecting her to come back?”

“When they arrested me for murder, no.” Lacomba says but adds that he did expect her to come back when he went to Dartford Family Court earlier that day.

Lacomba says Sarah did not know that the CCTV system was unable to record to the hard drive.

Lacomba has completed giving evidence on his third day in the witness box.

He will now have a short chat with Rebecca Trowler QC.

Lacomba says he went into 'cold shock' when first arrested

“And every time the phone rang, you must have been terrified that it was bad news,” says Ms Morgan.

Lacomba pauses before saying “I had spoken to the police and reported her missing so I was expecting to hear news from the police.”

“You must have had a moment of complete terror that they had found Sarah and were coming to tell you the bad news”.

Lacomba replied: “I don’t think it had gone through my mind that something terrible had happened to her at that point, it was very early on,” when the police squad car arrived later on October 11.

“You were the one person in the whole world who knew precisely where Sarah was,” the prosecution said.

PC Thomas says he didn’t ask a single question about Sarah Wellgreen.

Lacomba says he went into “cold shock” when arrested on October 16.

“They (arresting officers) told you you were being arrested for murder and you didnt ask them a single question about that. Didn’t you want to know if they’d found the body? Didn’t you want to know how Sarah had been killed? Didn’t you want to know why they were arresting you for murder? So you chose to stay silent then as saying anything would have incriminated you wouldn’t it,” says Ms Morgan.

Lacomba confirms he stayed silent.
Hadn't he just said a short time before this, that he knew he needed to contact his lawyer AFTER he was arrested, and that he did it/made that call from police station? If so, that doesn't answer why when he was arrested for MURDER, he didn't even ask if she'd been found, what had happened to her, etc.

I'm confused about this CCTV system BL had in the home.. if he is above saying that 'Sarah' did not know the system was unable to record to the hard drive, then why would he even bother to turn it OFF that night, thereby incriminating himself??

Edited to add: it sounds from the above, that HE was fully aware that it was NOT recording to a hard drive, even though Sarah was not aware.

He has said at some point that it must have been Sarah that turned it off so that he, Ben couldn't see who she was going off with that night

He calls his mum at 7.18am that morning to come round. “Did you ask her to do anything else that morning?” asks Ms Morgan.

Marilyn arrives at 7.38am and stays at 22 Bazes Shaw for 11 minutes. 7.51am she leaves again in her car. Then she comes back at 8.04am. “What was your mother doing that morning?”
“I can’t remember exactly what she was doing. I assume maybe she forgot something,” explains Lacomba.

“Did you ask her to do anything for you in those 15 minutes Mr Lacomba?” asks Ms Morgan.

snipped from SVS's post earlier.

I had assumed that ML was called round in order to help get the children ready for school, but this evidence seems to dispute that reason, if she only stayed for 11 minutes.
Plus it was BL who took the children to school that day, departing with them at 8.16am, so again it would be interesting to know why ML came back at 8.04am, just for another 11 minutes.
That is what I understood also, that he needed his momma's help in getting those 3 kids off to school (one being plenty old enough to get himself completely ready).. what I am wondering is if.. (okay, giving benefit of the doubt here).. momma perhaps needed to go to the local convenience store to buy some milk? I know we have run out of milk from time to time if someone has been indulging themselves all at once on milk unexpectedly.. could that be why she had to run out in between? And possibly also to ensure the kids had enough stuff packed in their school-lunches for the day? Surely he wouldn't have risked sending his dear mother out to dispose of something, knowing that she could 'break' during police questioning later??

Artificial grass out the back and this at the front?

Not sure what grandma would need a grave digger shovel for exactly? The patchy 'lawn' or the unkempt pots?

I googled when would you need a long handled shovel and it suggested 'digging holes' planting trees ...

Someone kindly got the weather report and it said no rain in New Ash Green; Ms Morgan thinks it was raining heavily somewhere in Kent that night.

Where on earth could he have buried her?? It must have taken him a while to dig a big deep hole. How long do we think? And his phone was inactive for a couple of hours, thereabouts? I don't think she's far. But it must be somewhere where no one is going to notice newly disturbed earth. Where does he play with his nerf guns? Can anyone link to a map where his car was spotted that night please?

If he planned it maybe he was waiting for rain to make the ground softer. I'm sorry fellow sleuthers, that's a really creepy horrible thought.
I know we checked the rainfall prior to and on October 9/10, but could someone please post the results up to the 14th? Was it pouring that night?

ETA: Somewhat redundant, since I see the 14th has now been posted. I would be interested to see the whole shebang, ie days leading up to the 9th, up until after the evening/night of the 14th? Is it possible he could've driven an additional hour after the cameras ended, left her there to be more fully dealt with in the days following? Surely police would've had a tail on him though?? And surely he would've expected this to happen when he was planning it out?

It was me put up the weather for October 8 - 10

But I think Pros is referring to the night of Sunday October 14, when he went back out, in pouring rain, to throw the phones into the river

Here's the forecast -

New Ash Green Historical Weather
He was also accused of taking Sarah's iphone to that same area on the afternoon(?) of the 11th.. why would police have video of the 14th, but not the 11th, and if they did have it (which I haven't heard it said that they do), why didn't they mention?
All this time I think I had been under the impression that BL had been accused of disposing of Sarah's phones as well as his own?? But if we now hear that S's iphone has been missing since SHE went missing.. (playing devil's advocate here), is it possible she left the house with her iphone in hand? But wouldn't police have been able to track it through records from cellphone provider and cell towers?

The first picture has a plant in a black plastic pot that looks like it's ready for planting. How very convenient.

Wouldnt have cctv picked her up though especially the one directly across from there home

Are you saying that the system, although unable to record to the 'hard drive', was in fact recording LIVE to a tv screen somewhere, and so whomever had access to that (who would that have BEEN though??), would've been able to see, and then report it to police?? Otherwise, my question still stands?

Good job with that shovel (10 months later!) Momma!

I don't think there were any cameras showing someone exiting out of the front door and getting into a vehicle... otherwise, wouldn't they have footage showing BL coming out of there with a body in tow?

Yes, I think that's exactly what was happening. Live footage could be seen but it was not being stored. So, anyone who viewed and then reported to police would have no proof to back up their reporting.

As to why he turned if off. I was under the impression that he did not know the system was not recording. I know he said SW was not aware, but I thought he also did not know.
