Attempts to get hold of Sarah
In a second statment taken on November 8, Lewis Burdett said: “I last saw my mum on the weekend of October 6.
“She seemed in good spirits and was happy to be having a job interview on Monday (October 8) for a good job which had more prospects, higher pay and a company car. She was very happy and looking forward to the future.
“I sent mum a text message on October 10 saying ‘can you transfer me that £30 for me?’. That was sent as a text message and not an iMessage so I didn’t know whether it had been read. I didn’t get a reply.
“Mum’s on/off boyfriend Neil James contacted me saying he hadn’t heard from mum and initially I thought she was ignoring him as Mum is normally good at replying unless she’s working or driving.
“Neil James said he last spoke to her on Tuesday night and since then she hadn’t been on her phone or Facebook, which is out of character.
I said I’d try to get in contact with her and if we hadn’t heard from her on Thursday we’d call the police.
“I tried ringing mum on her iPhone and it was going straight to voicemail indicating it was either switched off or the battery was flat.
“It was unusual for Mum not to have her phone charged as she had chargers in the car and in the house. I then rang the house. There was no reply from the house phone. I then rang Ben’s phone and there was no reply.
“On October 11, I tried to call Mum again on her phone but it went straight to voicemail. I then rang Ben and he said he was with the police.
“I’m currently using Mums old iPhone 7. I logged onto her gmail and saw she had not done anything on the account.
“Mum was in the process of trying to buy Ben out of the house at New Ash Green. Ben had agreed to sell the house. However he was unaware of who he would be selling it to.
“I think I did sign some documents in relation to the mortgage. I believe that the mortgage was progressing well and soon to be sorted.”
During the application for the mortgage, mum had access to my online banking. I can confirm since mum went missing there’s been no activation or money come out of my account.
“Mum was on a dating site called Plenty of Fish. I’m now using her old iPhone 7. I logged on and did not see any messages on the message part of the app.”
