A mountain rescue team has been enlisted in the search for a Sheffield man who has been missing since New Year’s Eve.

Scott, 20, was last seen leaving his home in Lowedges around midnight on December 31 into January 1 and has not been seen or heard from since. He is described as 5ft 4ins tall with dark hair.

An urgent appeal to help find him and bring him home is still ongoing. South Yorkshire Police has enlisted the help of Edale Mountain Rescue to help officers search for Scott.

CCTV discovered by officers show his route from Lowedges has taken him to the entrance to Graves Park on the outskirts of Sheffield.
A statement from the mountain rescue team said: “Three team members along with a Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England dog Flo, searched woodland within the park but unfortunately nothing was found.”

UPDATE: Family urge missing man to make contact

The mother of missing Sheffield man Scott has issued a personal appeal today (Thursday 5 January) to ask him to get in touch.

Scott, 20, hasn’t been heard from since the early hours of Sunday 1 January, when he left his home address in the Lowedges area of the city.

Scott’s mum has issued the following short statement:

“Scott, if you see this, please know that you aren’t in any trouble – I just need to know you’re okay. Please just let someone know that you’re alright.

“I will never stop worrying about you – you’re my son and we all love you. Please just make contact with someone so I know that you’re safe and not in any danger.”

You can read our full appeal on Flickr here ➡️ MISSING: Have you seen Scott?

Scott's mother, Jinni Barwick, has posted a CCTV image of Scott which is more recent (by around 30 minutes) than the one previously released by South Yorkshire Police (SYP), and shows him on Chesterfield Road, around 1.5 miles nearer the city centre than the earlier image. One of the implications of this is that he is very unlikely to have gone into Graves Park, which had previously been searched.

The newer image doesn't appear to have been released by SYP yet, but it has been picked up by local newspaper, The Star, who have incorporated it into a very useful report which can be seen via the link below.

The Star newspaper web-site.

The image appears to have been taken at this location (link opens up in Google Earth Street View).
