"Muslim Council of Britain 'appalled and angered'

In a statement, Harun Khan, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, says: "I am appalled and angered by the terrorist attacks at London Bridge and Borough Market, in my home city. These acts of violence were truly shocking and I condemn them in the strongest terms.

"Muslims everywhere are outraged and disgusted at these cowards who once again have destroyed the lives of our fellow Britons. That this should happen in this month of Ramadan, when many Muslims were praying and fasting only goes to show that these people respect neither life nor faith.

"My prayers are with the victims and all those affected. I commend the work of our emergency services working hard to keep us safe and cope with the ensuing carnage.""

OK so police are NOT looking for any other assailant then?

No but I bet there will be more arrests. But they said the threat has been contained.

An on-duty British Transport Police officer received "serious injuries" including head, face and leg wounds, as he responded to calls for help from the public, Scotland Yard said.

The Telegraph has been a great source of information imo.

I heard a man interviewed that an attacker was running toward him and his group and a policeman ran in and put himself in between the attacker and the group.

Key facts of this tragedy so far

These are the facts of the London terror attack on Saturday night:

The white van then continued to drive to Borough Market;
Three men then left the vehicle and began to stab people, including a British Transport Police Officer;
The suspects were confronted and shot dead by police at Borough Market within eight minutes of the first call being made;
At least six people were killed, and more than 30 injured.

Hoping that these women survived.
Did the cowardly men target females in particular? speculation.rbbm.

A 25-year-old man, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Guardian he was driving across the bridge when he saw a man and a pregnant woman unconscious on the road.

“We thought it was a car accident but as we got closer we could see a lot of blood and bodies. There was a pregnant woman on the right who was severely injured and on the left there was a man being resuscitated, but he started breathing. We don’t know whether the woman survived,” he said.
Another witness in the Mudlark, 54-year-old Jeff Whitsey, told reporters the woman, aged in her 20s, staggered into the pub, aided by her friends. She was clearly seriously injured.

“It was a very deep cut. There was blood everywhere... blood was spurting out. It was awful. Absolutely awful.”

Gerard Vowls, 47, had been watching the Champions League final at the Ship pub in Borough. He was at the start of the south side of London Bridge and saw a woman being stabbed by three men 10 or 15 times.

“She was going, ‘Help me, help me’ and I couldn’t do nothing,” he said. “I want to know if this girl is still alive. I’ve been walking around for an hour and a half crying my eyes out. I don’t know what to do.”

Vowls said he was throwing chairs, glasses and bottles at the attackers in a bid to stop them.

“They kept coming to try to stab me … they were stabbing everyone. Evil, evil people.”

But in all fairness, the British Muslims do condemn it, but it seems no one hears them. Muslims marched on Westminster bridge in protest at the Muslim who killed there.

Thank God that they did not have guns! It would have been far worse.

I just got word a friend was on the tube heading to London Bridge when he got text telling him to get the heck out of London. He was at London Olympic park stadium for Depeche Mode gig, visiting from Hawaii.

Godspeed, London

Tha blissful moment when you wake up and have forgotten all about last night.... and then memory hits hard.

I am amazed to read that LE took the three jihadists down within 8 minutes. Unbelievable. Well done.

:takeabow:

So these suiicide vests were fake. The dead victims are still real, and so are the wounded.

My condolences and best wishes to all. :rose:

Big thanks to all my fellow Websleuthers for your contributions on this thread. Stay safe everyone.

I wonder if this will delay the election which is meant to be on Thursday.

No it won't. The election is required by law to go ahead on the appointed day.

Jolly good I have taken Friday off and am looking forward to a night with David Dimbleby.

Question - if the suicide vests were fake, what were the police detonating? I had assumed it was explosives attached to the vests but that couldn't be if they were fake. Have I missed something?
