Live updates as man stands trial accused of murdering Wenjing Lin
''A man accused of murdering a 16-year-old girl at a Chinese restaurant in Ynyswen searched "Will fingerprints be burned by fire" before strangling her to death, his trial has been told.

Wenjing Lin, also known as Wenjing Xu, died following the incident at Blue Sky Chinese in Baglan Street, a restaurant owned by her family on March 5,

Chun Xu later told police he wanted "revenge" against Wenjing's mother Meifang Xu after he fell into debt.

The jury has been told 32-year-old defendant knew Wenjing Lin, 16, and her mother and stepfather Yongquan Jiang. The family ran the Blue Sky Chinese takeaway in Treherbert. He arrived there with a knife taken from a Chinese takeaway in Pontypridd where he was staying.

They previously gave him money to send back to friends in China but the defendant spent a lot of it on gambling and as of March 4, the day before the attack, he still owed Meifang £14,000.''

''Prosecuting barrister Michael Jones QC said: "This defendant strangled to death this 16-year-old girl Wenjing Lin. This is not in dispute."

Mr Jones added: "Having killed her and knowing she was dead, he lured her stepfather Yongquan into the basement storage area and repeatedly and viciously attacked him with two knives causing him multiple wounds to his face and body.''
