A wife accused of murdering her estranged husband claimed she could have "any of his family" killed.

Coach driver Richard Lush said Mrs Taylor told him she could arrange the killing of "any of the Taylor family".

Mr Lush, a friend of the farmer, said there had been a family row two and a half years before Mr Taylor, also known as Bill, disappeared from his home at Harkness Hall, Gosmore.

The dispute, in November 2015, resulted in Mr Taylor not speaking to Richard, son from his first marriage.

Coach driver Mr Lush said Mrs Taylor told him in November 2015: "I can kill any of the Taylor family at any time."

Prosecutor John Price QC asked "Did she say how or by whom?"

He replied: "She said she would get someone in Yorkshire to sort it out."

During cross-examination by Mr Cannon's counsel, Michael Magarian QC, Mr Lush was asked about his feelings towards Mrs Taylor.

"I did not like her, no," he said.

Asked if his dislike had influenced his evidence, he said: "No."

The jury at St Albans Crown Court has been told that Mrs Taylor and Mr Taylor had agreed in August 2015 to a deed of separation which involved her acquiring, debt-free, two neighbouring farms and 200 acres of land.

Bill and Richard Taylor had taken out a loan of £1m to clear all the debts on Harkness Hall and Angela's two farms, but the relationship between father and son was strained.

Not sure if that is accurate but perhaps they were divorced before his second marriage to Angela. MOO.

If they are convicted, does that property go back to the first family or what would happen?

I wonder if Richard Lush the coach driver, works for the company of Richard Taylor Travel ??

If you go onto North Herts county council website, Angela Taylor submitted a notice of landowner deposit in July 2018. Basically, she was attempting to restrict the public having rights of way over her land. I wonder why......?
And in reply to the question above, Richard Lush can be seen on the Richard Taylor Travel website. So he does work there.

Mr Taylor's son said his father found out Mr Cannon was having an affair with his wife and told Mr Cannon's boss.

Richard Taylor told St Albans Crown Court that when Mr Taylor found out about the affair he was "massively affected" with "disbelief, sadness, anger".

His father confronted digger driver Paul Cannon about the affair and was told to "put up or shut up".

He then went to the quarry where Mr Cannon was working.

"My father put across what had gone on and, from what my father told me, he got him the sack," Mr Taylor said.

Just looking at the dates given here, I am guessing the police were able to work out the date of death from the trail of WhatsApp messages.

Mrs Taylor, Mr Cannon and Mr Griffiths, deny murder on or about 4 June last year
and an alternative lesser charge of conspiracy to murder between 12 February and 5 June.

Bill and Richard Taylor had taken out a loan of £1 million to clear all the debts on Harkness Hall and Angela's two farms.

But the trial heard the relationship between father and son was strained, partly because Angela still had access to the joint business account.

Richard Taylor, gave evidence to the jury behind a screen.

At a pheasant shoot in November 2015 the police were called after a row between Bill and one of his daughters
It led to Richard having no contact with Bill for two-and-a-half years.

Am just adding an edit here, as I don’t think it is clear...the row was between Bill and one of RTs daughters ( Bill’s grand daughter )

The son of a wealthy farmer allegedly murdered by his estranged wife has said his father had wanted to punish her by refusing to agree to a divorce.

Taylor had twice initiated divorce proceedings - in 2014 and 2018 - but her husband had refused to co-operate.

Mr Taylor's eldest son Richard, 44, told St Albans Crown Court on Monday that his father and stepmother were living separately but his father still refused her request for a divorce.

"(My father) said she had made him suffer for 20 years, so he was going to make her suffer for five," he said.

The trial has already heard it was not possible to determine the precise cause of Mr Taylor's death because of the advanced stage of decomposition, as the body had been partly submerged in water for eight months.

Pathologist Charlotte Randall told jurors that the post-mortem examination showed "severe decomposition".

The jury heard that no natural cause of death such as disease was identified, there was no sign of blunt force injuries, and no evidence of gunshot or stab wounds.

Dr Randall told the court there was a "possible fracture of one of the delicate neck structures" called the hyoid bone, "raising the possibility of compression to the neck prior to death".

She said it is not common to sustain a fracture to the upper neck area as a result of accidental trauma.

Dr Randall also said she could not completely exclude the possibility of smothering.

She said death due to drowning should be considered due to the fact his body was found in water, but added that a test was carried out with results that supported the view that he was not alive when he entered the water.

Dr Randall said the features of how he was found were not typical of when death has occurred by suicidal drowning.

The pathologist said the cause of death was "unascertained".
