“Today I would also like to make an appeal for people to look out for Pat’s distinctive mobile phone flip cover – black with red stripes. I’ve released an image of an identical cover. His iPhone SE still remains unaccounted for too. It could be broken, smashed or in pieces.

“And I would like to trace the movements of a blue Ford Transit van which was travelling on the Old Ballygowan Road in Comber at around 2pm on Friday 31stMay.

“I’ve carried out a number of land and water searches and detectives continue to examine hundreds of hours of CCTV footage. This has all been extremely helpful as well as the significant amount of information I’ve received during my investigation. I would like to echo Pat’s family’s thanks to the community for their help – the information you are providing really is making a difference.”

Police Detective Chief Inspector Pete Montgomery, who is leading the investigation, said: " I would still like to trace the movements of a blue Ford Transit van registration number JLZ1672 and I would appeal to motorists and pedestrians to think back to the following specific dates and times:

- On May 30 at approximately 23.30 heading country bound on the Killinchy Road. Did you see this distinctive van with the silver front wings? Where did it go?

- On May 31st at around 08.15 in the rear car park of Supervalu . Did you see the van parked up here? Did you see the driver? Did you see anyone at the van or any activity at the van? Later on at around 10.15 did you see it on the Killinchy Road heading in the direction of Lisbane. Did you see where it went? I need to ascertain where this van went.

- And later that day at around 14:00 did you see it travelling on the Old Ballygowan Road in Comber? Again, I need to know where this van went."

I find it hopeful they have this info.

So they looking for just the van? Why blurr the faces?
That is a pretty distinctive paint job, someone must have seen it. Moo
Well, now I think about it, LE probably know all about the van, just not where it went out of range of the cctv. If it was driven on rural lanes it could be anywhere. Barn, lake etc.

I wonder how far it is to the Irish sea? Many bodies going into the sea end up washing ashore on the North Wales coast months later. Looking at the map though, its quite far away and cctv would have picked them up along the route. Moo

I'll be constantly watching out for that van now... but IMO it's not being driven on the roads anymore.
