UK- Woman, 30's, raped by group of men in the grounds of St Mary's Church, Banbury, 28 Sep, 2025, *LE seeking woman who tried to help the victim.*

''In recent months, police have been inconsistent on disclosing the ethnicity of a suspect."

C'mon, there were riots in whole country because of the erroneous information that the suspect in triple murder in Southport was an illegal immigrant and a person of colour. Of course the LE is inconsistent, they have to tread lightly.

While looking up about this case I noticed there was another gang rape in Banbury last year. 3 men convicted.

I really hope they find the men responsible in this case too.

Our investigation remains open regarding the incident in Banbury and we are following all available lines of enquiry to establish the facts of what happened.

We continue to encourage anyone with information relating to this investigation to come forward.

We are aware of speculation circulating regarding the possible ethnic background or origin of the individuals connected to this incident.

At this stage, we have no further verified description of those involved, and any assumptions being made are unfounded and unhelpful to the investigation.

We can confirm there is no information at this stage to link this investigation to migrant accommodation.

We urge the public to refrain from speculation.

Thank you for the update!
How incredibly worrying for the folk of Banbury, particularly females but anyone out and about on their own should stay alert. A "gang" of men are sitting pretty right now thinking they might get away with it and this could lead to cockiness!
Hoping that young lady is ok and feeling a bit better knowing the police are doing what they can to catch these ba5tards!

It's incredibly odd that the female who attempted to help hasnt come forward yet!? Fear? Feelings of guilt that she tried but couldn't stop it? I so hope she finds the courage to speak to police, her information could be vital!

BBM - The only other reason I can think of why she hasn't come forward, is if she was with or knew the men?
Not saying I believe this is the reason, but just a thought.

My opinion only.

I hope that once arrests are made she may feel safe enough to give evidence. Or police may identify her from any CCTV they gather in the meantime.

I'm wondering if the police would agree to keep her identity quiet if she comes forward.

I'm absolutely certain they would, but then even if they did, if she knows any of the men personally they will know who she is regardless. I hope she will come forward because it's only a matter of time before one or all of these guys strikes again imo.

😮

The alleged attack shocked the country over the weekend after a woman, in her 30s, claimed she was raped by a group of men at the churchyard of St Mary's Church.
Police had previously said she was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning, September 28 and that a Good Samaritan had helped her.
Providing new details, the police said the report came from a third party.
Thames Valley Police had also previously said that one of the alleged suspects was white and nothing to do with migrant accommodation nearby, as was speculated widely across social media.
But now the force has confirmed it is not looking for anybody in the investigation.
A force spokesman said on Thursday afternoon: "A Thames Valley Police investigation into an alleged rape in Banbury last weekend has found no evidence the offence took place as reported.
"Therefore, we are not currently seeking anyone in relation to this investigation.
"The original report was made to us by a third party, who stated that a woman had been raped by a group of men in St Mary’s Church churchyard in the early hours of Sunday morning, September 28.
"We continue to support the woman involved."
Thames Valley Police further added: "We are still supporting the woman involved as our investigation is ongoing to engage with her to understand if any offences took place in different circumstances.
"No other investigations related to this case are ongoing."
The allegations of a gang rape had sparked furious reaction, condemnation and messages of support for the alleged victim.
Police and crime commissioner Matthew Barber said it was a " shocking attack" and insisted officers would be "working tirelessly" to find a culprit.
And Sean Woodcock, MP for Banbury, said he was "deeply shocked" by the reports adding it will have "shocked the entire community".
Detectives were on scene throughout Sunday, September 28 and Monday, September 29 but later stood down by Tuesday.
Crime scene investigators were also spotted dressed in their white overalls forensically examining the scene for DNA or crucial evidence.
But Thames Valley Police has said "no evidence" was found at the scene.
There were two police cordons in place on Sunday morning: one at the churchyard in Horse Fair and another just off the high street in Banbury's town centre.
St Mary's Church said in a statement at the time: "Due to an incident in the churchyard last night, we currently have no access to church.
"It is with deep regret that we are therefore having to cancel today’s parish Eucharist. Please pray for those affected by whatever ha
ppened last night."

I did have thoughts that this might be the case especially when the story just pretty much dropped from the media.

Hmm. I'll admit I was curious about the lack of updates, no discussion of CCTV footage etc. for the past few days. I wonder who the third party would be, if the alleged victim was the first party and the Good Samaritan was the second party.

That was my thought as well.

I have to say… I’m actually shocked at this turn of events.

The wording is interesting.

'We are still supporting the woman involved as our investigation is ongoing to engage with her to understand if any offences took place in different circumstances'

Is this a case of someone witnessed something that looked non-consensual but actually was consensual?
