No it is insinuating imo that he is alluding to possibly others close to the investigation had a hand in the children's disappearance.

As per my above post , I think he is playing poker in other words if he had that good of a hand ,there would have been arrests . So imo he is bluffing

On whose observation did she call then into school sick? Do we know she for sure did? Or just her phone? Do we know of there really was a cough?

If the stepfather can't remember much from the night before (when did they go to bed, who slept where, were there baths, bedtime routines, diaper changes, pull ups, etc), why can't be remember? Seems like those events are the ones that imprint. The last things someone said or did, the last interactions.

Details are missing.

We aren't privy to what their mom has shared with LE, what HER last interactions were.

Granted the biological child was a mere baby, it's still suspicious that the two missing children were stepchildren.

Worth noting, if there was a potential for money to come in (child support from their biological father and/poor government bonus money), it doesn't seem likely that the stepfather would cut off the line of cash flow.

Which leads me to believe, whatever happened to Lilly and Jack, it wasn't planned.

I don't think they had breakfast. Little sentence, says a lot.

As time goes on and despite the difficulties the searchers face in the terrain . I find it harder and harder to put faith in this being a case of lost children whom wandered out of the searchers scope .

Re reading over old and the latest msm articles and there are aspects that make an avid reader of crime and missing person cases spot things that seem to scream there is more than meets the eye within the information available
This statement pops out from the reems of pages " we have no reason to believe the kids are dead " this statement in its self defies logic when considering how long the kids are missing.

other statements that if seen in other cases would point to criminality is cps involvement, financial difficulties and black eyes , no scent beyond the yard and the coming and going of a vehicle or vehicles during the night and a family breakdown the day after the kids go missing and the golden nuggets that are drug abuses and DV

I want to believe that this family are the victims of a series of unfortunate events that accumulated over time and their final misfortune was lilly and jack walking into the woods never to be seen again .

Am I niave to trust or am I being led up the garden path

My heart wants to see the best in people and my brain tells me time will tell and logic screams coincidence is a fairytale seen in Hollywood movies .

There is no denying that red flags exist in this case but are they the cause or the effect ?

I would like the answer to this question also. Everything seems so vague it is frustrating... did the mother see and/or hear the kids that morning or not? Is the Grandmother sure she heard them playing that morning or does she think so? It would go a long way to removing any suspicious from the stepfather if we knew for sure that other family members saw and/or heard the kids that morning.

Look at the case of Lily Coursol. The 6 year old girl was seen going into the woods. A large search was launched quite quickly. Yet it took them 24 hours to find the girl just 700m from where she went in. And that was largely because she decided to stop moving and wait to be rescued.

While yes, it is hard to believe, it is still possible.

What I would like to know is if the police are confident no potential suspect vehicles drove by at the time the kids went missing. Based on their video collection. All it would take is for them to have gone out to the road and just the wrong person drove by.

One thing is that kids sometimes decide to have an adventure. They could have decided to go to school. They could have decided to go to some landmark in the woods.

One strange thing: if the kids were playing the yard, as the Grandmother claims to have heard, why would they bring their backpack? Seems unlikely. So if they decided to leave did they go back in for the backpack? Seems strange to me.

I am very reluctant to state personal opinion as a certainty. There's many reasons a little kid might take a backpack with them. Maybe they want to collect rocks and need to put them somewhere. Maybe they want to take their doll collection. Maybe they put on a sweater to go outside but want to be able to put it away if it's too warm or it gets wet. Maybe they wanted to pack snacks. There are as many reasons to take a backpack as there are not to take it!

I would imagine that a 6 and 4-year-old getting their own snacks and drinks would most likely leave some sign of it behind (like leaving packaging or empty cups out on the counter), so if they did take food there's a decent chance RCMP know about it

Their mother said she put them to bed the night before, wearing the same clothes they had on during the day. And Lilly went to sleep with that backpack.

Maybe she took her blanket out from the garbage that evening and put it in her backpack? I didn’t understand her sleeping with it unless it contained something special.

Most kids have a lunch box with compartments, at least for snacks. I’ve wondered if she or Jack had one and if they found it. I understand their school has a lunch program, but maybe they took drinks and snacks to school regularly.

I love when fellow posters throw out new questions.
Because information is vague and of the very few interviews done with family members I have felt the interviewers questions weren't targeted enough ,by that I mean the details that matter .

Although I understand certain details cannot be released for valid reasons and no one wants to risk leaked details derailing an investigation but simple things like you have stated here and other stuff like , what do you think was in the backpack or do you know ? Were the kids aware they were not going to school ?. Did lilly say anything during the couple of times she popped her head into the bedroom ? Did jack and lilly ever go into the yard without you and Maleyha if they heard janie with the chickens for example?

When was the last time janie spoke or seen the children ? Did she know they were sick ? Did janie know the family was struggling to get basic needs ?

What was lilly and jacks favourite thing to do when in the forest ,where they attracted to the water ? Could they swim ? Is this why janie was building a pool ? How independent were they in regards, getting something to eat or drink . Did they Normally put on their own coat and boots ? Is this the first time they ever closed the porch door ? We know they are might talk to strangers easily but what about kids ,would they approach a child to be their friend or wait to be approached ? Did they know what was dangerous and what was not in the forest such as what berries or plants might be poisonous or could they build a Fort like the one in the yard ? Who built it ? And did they help ? Where the kids ever brought on a walk to the pipeline trail ?

And the list goes on .. if anyone like to add to that list feel free . It's not an exercise in targeting parents or grandparents. It's just who were lilly and jack as people what were their hobbies and intricacies

I always wondered why it is never stated what was in the backpack , I mentioned way back in first thread I think that surely this is relevant.

What it contained could not only contain clues as to what they set out to do . But if an item was dropped and this item was found by a member of the public would it not make sense that they knew it was connected to the case rather than disregarding it as a piece of rubbish

That comment is not made by someone inside the RCMP investigation so it may just be an opinion or speculation.

Bringing in resources from other provinces is not an overly unusual situation considering the RCMP is a national organization and N.S. is a small province. Some of that was already explained. IIRC lab is in Ontario, cadaver dogs/handlers came from BC.

I just don't buy that in the slightest. It seems completely unfeasible to me.
I'd be genuinely shocked if that did turn out to be the case.
