Yes, I believe it was stated in a news article that there was a confrontation as her family was accusing the stepdad. So RCMP told her it was best to leave. That explains why she blocked him on social media too.

I was just explaining why, it makes more sense for mom to stay with the grandmother as if children’s aid is involved now, being on the reserve is in moms best interest.
Do we know for sure if the grandmother lives on or off the the Rez?

Can you quote what was said from this. It's a paywall for me.

Her Mi’kmaq community’s leadership has urged people not to spread rumours or add fuel to the rampant speculation about the case circulating online. A woman who answered Ms. Brooks-Murray’s phone Thursday said she couldn’t discuss the missing children – but said the mother’s relationship with Mr. Martell has ended. Mr. Martell confirmed that he has been unable to get in touch with her and that she’s blocked him on social media.

The mother acts like she is getting counseled by a legal professional, which is probably through that First Nation group.

Then Joe Warmington, a reporter who can be quite outspoken at times, brings up the fact the RCMP included the land acknowledgment to the Mi’kma’ki prior to their update. Coincidence, who knows….

BBM. In light of DM's statement that the sliding door was closed when they got up, I just can't reconcile that "then they happened to just get out that sliding door and we can't hear it when it opens" and "they were outside playing, but we weren't aware of it at the time." Those two statements by the mom just don't make sense because she can't know these things. I assume they were said when she was so distraught that she didn't have an accurate timeline in her head; MOO I think this happens a lot when you wake up thinking it's an ordinary day and something horrible happens. Like, my bf went for a walk this morning and if something happened to him, I couldn't tell you what color T-shirt he was wearing or the exact time he left. I hope she has privately given a further statement to RCMP.
I want to know when and how they knew the kids were outside if the quiet patio door was shut. What made them realize that?

Indigenous land acknowledgements are quite common now, I have often experienced hearing the acknowledgment of being on Indigenous lands at workshops, zoom and meetings etc. Additionally, land acknowledgements are sometimes on taglines in emails.

Oh yes, that’s right, she was told to quieten down for the baby’s sake. But just based on my own experience, if a 6 year old child had a cough and wasn’t supposed to attend school that day, I’d have a question about why she was up and fully dressed? How did they know she had a cough and shouldn’t go to school, was it just be hearing her?

The more I think about it, that piece of the story is a huge missing gap.
JMO
In my area of Nova Scotia, the school must be notified by 8 , by the parent, if a child will not be attending school that day.

Yes in Alberta too, often relating to public events but his point was why was it included prior to an update on the search for missing children, seems a bit unusual.

He described the kids as full of life, always smiling and laughing. Lilly would let out these high-pitched squeals, he said. “I’d get after her all the time – ‘Lilly, you can’t be doing that.’“ He also described her as a bit of a drama queen. “If she had a sore foot, she’d say her foot was broken,” he said with a laugh.

Jack sometimes fell asleep on the way home from school, but more often than not he was chatty. “He’d say, ‘Bus driver. Hey bus driver!’” Mr. Ward recalled.
[snip]
“If he was trying to talk to you and he couldn’t get your attention, the little bugger would take his boot off, throw it at you. Jack is famous for throwing his boots at me.”

This gives us a good sense of the children's personalities and how they interact with their world I think. I appreciate that info from the bus driver. They sound like corkers ;) Lily with her dramatic flair and Jack with his insistence to be heard.

Actually an anonymous woman said that the relationship has ended. She can't block him altogether, they have a child together and he has rights .
Well she could, for a while anyway. She could block him and not let him see the baby if she has concerns for the child's safety. I think he'd have to apply for a court order? If that's not how it works in Canada then someone please correct me.

I think the mom said "she heard them playing in the next room, then she didnt hear them anymore." Maybe assumed they went outside, through probably the only door on that mobile home,)

Joe Warmington wrote some factually wrong things about the girlfriend of Gabriel Wortman and just shrugged when he was proven wrong.

I know he doesn’t like the land acknowledgment, but there wasn’t urgency in this situation. Nobody is doing one when someone is bleeding out in surgery, or calling 911 to say that their house is on fire. He’s just preaching to his choir.

I’ve been off here for a day or so - so have just caught up on the thread.

At this stage as time passes I think there’s only 2 options as to what has happened

1 - Both children headed to a water source - got into difficulty and sadly drowned (I still have doubts over this as I think backpack etc would have been found.

2 - Something happened in that property which led to their disappearance.

I just feel if they got into difficulty in the woods then some evidence would’ve been found by now

Just a point to mention, grandma says MBM was advised by police against the family speaking to “the public”, NOT the media. I suppose some might argue it’s one and the same but it also could refer to private or casual conversations with 3rd parties, which is good advise. The fewer people inserting themselves, the better.

We're just hoping and praying for the best — that's it — for our babies to come home," Cyndy Murray said in a brief phone interview, adding that police have advised the family against speaking with the public.

That's what I'm not understanding. Per MBM's early comments about hearing them play in the next room, "We always make sure that we’re out there with them, watching them, and they happen to just get out that sliding door, and we can’t hear it when it opens, and they were outside playing, but we weren’t aware of it at the time, and the next thing we knew it was quiet." MOO but my first reaction would be that they must be hiding in the house, playing a trick on the grown-ups, and I'd be tearing through cupboards, looking under beds etc. My first thought would not be that my kids who never go outside without parental supervision had opened one particular door, closed it behind them and were playing silently outside. MOO: It's possible the kids have been tiny escape artists in the past (like many children; I was one!), the silent sliding door was never locked in a way they couldn't open it, they have probably played outside unsupervised before without incident, and MBM, thinking this might make her look a bit lax in her parenting, went overboard in describing herself as keeping the children thoroughly supervised. IMO I hope MBM, apart from DM, has had a chance to clarify this with the authorities.

Its part of the truth and Reconciliation commission calls to action,
in a nutshell, a land acknowledgement Is about acknowledging the history of colonialism, past harms and reconciling relationships between non indigenous and indigenous people, by expressing good intentions. There is a lot more to it but that's a short explanation.

I have no problem with it.

He’s trying to make the point that it makes the missing children look unimportant, but in my opinion the press conference and the search are two different things.
