The United States Government is preventing the delivery of fertilizers and oil to the global community. The consequence is food shortage, and increased cost of living.

"The United States are now trying to stop exports from Iran through a naval blockade that has been in effect since 4 p.m. today. All ships sailing to and from Iranian ports will be "diverted, intercepted, or seized".
...

The ongoing blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is problematic not only for the transit of oil and gas, but also for food. If that blockade continues for much longer, it could have major consequences, according to a UN agency.

Many ships carrying fertilizers also pass through the Strait of Hormuz. A shortage of these can affect crop yields and thus drive up food prices. According to the United Nations, poorer countries are particularly vulnerable."

We've just wrapped up a surprise appearance by Donald Trump, who called today's White House press pool to watch a delivery of McDonald's to mark his "no tax on tips" policy.

Trump answered several questions, in which he sounded optimistic about the prospect of a negotiated settlement with Iran and on the effectiveness of the newly imposed naval blockade.

The United States Government is acting weird regarding the head of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church.

"Leo suggested over the weekend that a “delusion of omnipotence” was fuelling the US-Israeli war in Iran.
...

Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” the president wrote in his post.

Australia will join a summit hosted by UK and France later this week to discuss safeguarding shipping in the strait.

Defence Minister Richard Marles has reiterated Australia would only contribute to efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz if a ceasefire becomes permanent.

Australia will be among more than 40 nations to discuss safeguarding shipping in the Strait of Hormuz

“Words, especially from an American president, have real consequences,” Clinton added. “And when you look at the last week of unhinged rants from Trump’s social media accounts, it’s just disgraceful. I mean, threatening civilizational genocide, threatening Pope Leo.”

“This is hard work,” Clinton said. “You don’t just show up in Geneva or Islamabad, talk for a bunch of hours, and go away. This is hard, disciplined effort that has to go into diplomacy to reach any results.”

“And I don’t see this administration either wanting to do it or, frankly, being capable of doing it because they send the same three people around the world — two of them, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, they’re supposed to solve Ukraine, Iran, Gaza — it’s a joke,” she continued.

One man was escorted out of the Sunday night town hall after shouting that the Republican Party is “morally bankrupt” and led by “spineless liars” while the crowd cheered him on. “You must impeach. He’s a fraud, he’s corrupt, he’s an incompetent psychopath,” the man yelled, referring to Trump. “The Republican Party and you are enabling him.... He makes genocidal threats against millions of innocent Iranian civilians.... Don’t be spineless, impeach him!”

It’s being reported that the United States has more than 15 warships that are in the area around the Strait of Hormuz.

Now, if a vessel that’s Iranian or linked to Iran goes through, then the plan is that they would stop that vessel.

What’s being reported is that if an Iranian vessel or Iranian-linked vessel decided that it would resist, then there would be something that’s called a contested boarding in which specialised units of Marines or Navy Seals would board that ship.

Senator Chuck Schumer says the Democrats will again force a vote in the US Senate to “stop the war in Iran and rein in an out-of-control Trump”.

The minority leader said the move would mark the fourth such vote since the US-Israel war on Iran began.

“For the 4th time, Republicans will have the chance to end this war,” he wrote in a post on X.

Lebanese Ambassador Nada Hamadeh and Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter are due to meet in Washington, DC, at 11am local time (15:00 GMT) as they begin rare direct talks, according to a schedule published by the US State Department.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will join “working-level” talks with the two ambassadors, the State Department said.

The discussion is expected to focus on securing a ceasefire in Lebanon – where Israel has unleashed devastating air attacks and a ground invasion – as well as the disarmament of Hezbollah and a broader peace arrangement.

Bill Galvin has spent much of the past month answering the phone.

Most callers are asking how to apply to become a conscientious objector — a difficult, invasive and rarely used process. But they're also airing their concerns and frustrations, often anonymously, as the hotline allows them a space to do so without repercussions.

Military members are citing myriad reasons for wanting to leave, but the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran has been a powerful motivator. In March alone, Galvin's center took on more than 80 new clients — almost twice as many as it takes on in an average year. The busiest single day saw 12 new clients join, with one person saying four other members of their platoon were also interested.

Holding a landline phone to his ear, Bill Galvin sits at an office desk with a desktop computer and keyboard on it.

Bill Galvin answers calls at his desk in Washington, D.C.
Those numbers are a drop in the bucket when compared with the more than 1.3 million people enlisted. But for outside observers and former military officials, those calls and conversations are an indication of a troubling disquiet within the ranks.

"Mark Norman, retired Royal Canadian Navy vice-admiral and fellow with the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, says the blockade is a "somewhat desperate act." He says it's ironic the U.S. is effectively blocking a strait it has wanted to open since the conflict started.

"This is really the only significant remaining pressure point, or point of leverage, the United States has," he said. "This is all about money at the end of the day."
...

David Carment, a professor of international affairs at Carleton University in Ottawa, says the U.S. and Israel don't seem to have fully realized Iran's capacity for resolve and retaliation, and says it's "not at all clear" whether the U.S. has a larger plan going forward.

"Everything that they've done so far superficially appears to be lacking any long-term strategy. It seems to be incredibly ad hoc," Carment said.

"One minute they're negotiating, the next minute they're posing greater and greater restraints on Iran."

"Media are revealing the inside story of the negotiations.

The US is interested in such an agreement.

Key information:

  • The US has proposed that Iran halt its nuclear activities for 20 years.
  • In response, Iran declared its readiness to suspend the program for five years.
  • The negotiations also covered the issue of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and support for armed organizations.
According to the findings,
talks in Islamabad also focused on the safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for oil transport.

Furthermore,
discussions were held about the potential end of Tehran's support for organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

However,
the core of the dispute remains the length of the period for which Iran would suspend its nuclear program.

'The ball is in Iran's court
and if Tehran meets Washington's conditions to curb its nuclear ambitions, this could be a very, very beneficial deal for both countries',
Vance said.:"

The United States announced on Tuesday that Israel and Lebanon agreed to “launch direct negotiations” to end fighting between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, a conflict that has threatened to upend the fragile cease-fire between the United States and Iran.

Despite the talks on Tuesday, however, the violence has continued inside Lebanon. And it was far from clear if any agreement between the governments of Lebanon and Israel would actually end the fighting

Beijing issued its most forceful criticism yet of U.S. action, calling the blockade “dangerous and irresponsible.” President Xi Jinping said the world must not be allowed to “revert to the law of the jungle.”

Vice President JD Vance said it was up to Iran to “take the next step.”

Israel and Lebanon agreed to hold more talks after the U.S. ambassadors to both countries held a meeting today that was also attended by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah has vowed not to abide by any agreements.

“The United States affirmed that any agreement to cease hostilities must be reached between the two governments, brokered by the United States, and not through any separate track," according to the statement.

It was reported on Tuesday that Russian oil revenues nearly doubled in March, allowing for a windfall of cash for the country. The spike in revenue is resulting from instability resulting from the US-Israel war on Iran.

“Putin and his oligarch buddies are laughing all the way to the bank thanks to Trump’s war,” Schumer said on X.

European countries are putting together a plan for a coalition of countries to help free up shipping through the Strait of Hormuz after the conflict, including sending mine - clearing and other military vessels, the Wall Street Journal reported.

French president Emmanuel Macron said the plan is for an international defensive mission that doesn’t include the “belligerent” parties which sources said could include the US, Israel and Iran.
