  • Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire, President Donald Trump announced on Thursday. Trump said the deal came into effect following conversations he had with Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Israel initially said the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran did not apply to Lebanon, and Israeli forces had continued striking Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorists there since.

Iran’s foreign ministry says the country’s stockpile of enriched uranium will not be transferred “anywhere,” denying an earlier claim by US President Donald Trump that the Islamic Republic agreed to hand it over.

“Iran’s enriched uranium is not going to be transferred anywhere,” Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei tells state TV.

Trump posted on his Truth Social platform earlier today that “The U.S.A. will get all Nuclear ‘Dust,’ created by our great B2 Bombers,” referring to nuclear material buried by US strikes last year.

The Paris meeting is 40 countries. There are 32 countries in NATO, so the 40 countries that plan to ensure the Strait of Hormuz is not privatized are unrelated to NATO.

"We welcome the Iranian announcement that the Strait of Hormuz is reopening," but at the same time, everyone must "remain cautious." That is what French President Emmanuel Macron says. The reopening is, however, a step in the right direction, he adds.

Today, a meeting was organized in Paris with nearly 40 other countries to discuss the situation at the Strait of Hormuz and to make plans on how the countries should respond to the crisis.

Macron says that all countries could not accept a "privatization of the strait." Therefore, a "neutral, independent mission will be set up" to continue guaranteeing the opening of the strait. However, that mission would only start once a lasting agreement is reached between the US, Iran, and Israel.

Iran has promised that it will never close the Strait of Hormuz again." Donald Trump writes this via Truth Social, now that Iran wants to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. "So it will never be used as a weapon against the world again. It is a grand and wonderful day for the world!"

Trump also says that NATO called him to offer support for the reopening of the strait. "I told them to stay away," Trump writes, "unless they want to fill their ships with oil."

"Air Canada has suspended service on six different routes, both domestic and cross-border, as the war in the Middle East drives up fuel costs.

"Jet fuel prices have doubled since the start of the Iran conflict, affecting some lower profitability routes and flights which now are no longer economically feasible," the airline said in a statement on Friday.
...

Flights from Toronto and Montreal to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport will be suspended temporarily starting June 1, with plans to resume Oct. 25, Air Canada said.

Those cuts affect one flight from Montreal and three from Toronto, the airline said, noting that Air Canada will still offer 34 daily flights between Canada and LaGuardia Airport in New York and Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey."

"The Strait of Hormuz is completely open and ready for business and full passage," Trump wrote on Truth Social Friday. "But the naval blockade will remain in full force and effect as it pertains to Iran, only, until such time as our transaction with Iran is 100% complete."

Iranian officials said the blockade was a violation of last week's ceasefire agreement between Iran and the U.S. The strait "will not remain open" if the blockade continues, Iran's parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, posted on X early Saturday local time."

Iranian Revolutionary Guards gunboats fired on a tanker traveling through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, according to an advisory from the UK Maritime Traffic Organization (UKMTO).

The UKMTO said it had received a direct notification from the tanker captain, who reported “being approached by 2 IRGC gun boats,” some 20 nautical miles (30 kms) off the coast of Oman.

The captain said there had been no radio warning before the ship – whose identity was not disclosed by UKMTO - was fired on.

“Tanker and crew are reported safe,” UKMTO posted.
The incident came as Iran reimposed strict limits on shipping seeking to cross the Strait in response to US President Donald Trump saying Friday that a US blockade on shipping using Iranian ports would continue.

“As long as the passage of vessels from Iranian origin to Iranian destination remains under threat, the status of the Strait of Hormuz will remain in its previous state,” the navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) posted on X Saturday.

Turkey’s foreign minister on Saturday accused Israel of using security as a pretext to acquire “more land”.“

Israel is not after its own security. Israel is after more land. Security is being used by the Netanyahu government as an excuse to occupy more land,” Hakan Fidan told the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Israel has created an illusion internationally, claiming that Israel is in favour of its own security but it has become very clear, especially in the recent years … it is more than that,” Fidan said.

He said from the Palestinian lands, Gaza, the West Bank, East Jerusalem, and now towards Lebanon and Syria, it was “an onward occupation and expansionism in the region.

“I think this has to stop.

“Israel has to know that the only way to live peacefully in the region … is to let the other countries enjoy their own security, and territorial integrity, and freedom, not to use power on those countries,” he added.

'Yellow line' to be imposed in Lebanon

Israel will bar residents in Lebanon from returning to areas where the Israeli military have occupied, in a so-called “yellow line”.

The “yellow line” restriction area applies to 55 Lebanese villages, according to Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials.

The method was used to divide Gaza in two as part of the October 2025 ceasefire agreement. Now, it will be applied in Lebanon.

Are false statements from the United States Government making things worse?

"The Iranians want to send the signal to the Americans that they must take them seriously. That is what Middle East expert Inge Vrancken says on the news now that Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz again.

Moreover, we must not lose sight of Monday's negotiations, she says. "US President Trump says that the negotiations are going well and that the Iranians have pledged to temporarily halt their nuclear program. Iran denies this. Until that definitive message arrives, the situation will remain unstable."

North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles towards the sea off its east coast, South Korea and Japan, according to reports on Sunday.

The incident marks the North’s seventh ballistic missile launch this year and its fourth in April. It comes as Pyongyang works to boost its military capabilities.

“As the US is focused on Iran, the North sees this as a golden time to upgrade their nuclear power and missile capability,” said Lim Eul-chul, a professor at Kyungnam University.

The deputy foreign minister of the Houthi government in Sanaa has warned that the rebels may close the Bab al-Mandeb Strait off the coast of Yemen if Trump continues to obstruct peace.

Bab al-Mandeb connects the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden and is a key shipping chokepoint that channels sea traffic towards the Suez Canal.

It is one of the world’s most important routes for global seaborne commodity shipments, particularly crude oil and other fuels from the Gulf to the Mediterranean, as well as commodities bound for Asia, including Russian oil.

The United States Government is again threatening to destroy critical infrastructure and harm the civilian population of Iran.

"Iran has rejected the new round of negotiations with the US, which is scheduled for tomorrow according to President Donald Trump. This was reported by the official Iranian news agency Irna.

The news agency states that the "excessive demands of the United States", their "continuous course corrections", and "the ongoing naval blockade" are reasons for Iran not to return to the negotiating table.

According to Iran, the US reports about new negotiations are part of a United States Government media campaign to exert even more pressure on Tehran.

Trump warned in his post on Truth Social that if there is no deal tomorrow, the United States will "destroy every power plant and every bridge in Iran".
