"Iran ‌rejected new peace talks with the United States, its state news agency reported on Sunday, hours after U.S. President Donald Trump said he was sending envoys for talks in Pakistan and would launch new strikes on Iran unless it accepts his terms.
...

"We’re offering a very fair and reasonable DEAL, and I hope they take it because, if they don’t, the United States is going to knock out every single Power Plant, and every single Bridge, in Iran," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. "NO MORE MR. NICE GUY!"
...

On Saturday, Iran, which had earlier announced it would allow shipping to pass through Hormuz, reversed course, accusing Washington of violating a ceasefire agreement by maintaining its own blockade of Iranian ports.

"Gas, fertilizers, and the domino effect:

The Great Depression could strike suddenly.

A longer conflict means:
- more expensive fertilizers,
- higher energy, transportation, and feed costs,
which will translate into higher food prices.

The EU is preparing an aid package for agriculture.

The war in the Middle East impacted not only the energy and fuel markets,
but also nitrogen fertilizers,
and thus agriculture,
which still wouldn't exist without them.
Fertilizers, in turn, wouldn't exist without natural gas.

Natural gas is estimated to account for between 60 and 80 percent of fertilizer production costs.

Under normal circumstances,
30 percent of global fertilizer trade passes through the Strait of Hormuz."

"Fertiliser in the last six weeks has moved from $800 a tonne to $1,800, and the availability ongoing is quite questionable," south-west Victorian farmer Ben Bennett said.

"The cost of fuel and fertiliser is flowing through the supply chain, and we're going to see in metro areas probably a two or three per cent increase across the board," market analyst and director of Episode 3, Matt Dalgleish, said.

"Any products that rely on fuel, fertiliser and energy will be affected — so perishable items like red meats, dairy, fruit and vegetables.

The latest comes from the IRIB, which is the Iranian radio and television, and it reported that an “Iranian container ship named Touska was targeted by an American attack, 50 miles from the port of Chabahar, and in response, Iran carried out drone attacks on American warships”.
