Is there a transcript anyone can link to? I'm interested in the details of the call but honestly don't think I can bear hearing JW's voice :(
D (moms SO) made the call so no worries about hearing J's distraught voice on the 911 call. You can hear how confused and shook D is in the call (IMO)

some of the call is transcribed and appears in print across the screen in video as the tape is played at the link

I understand the sentiment, I do. He doesn't deserve comfort or ease of life. But I have a different view.
I work in a jail and so for the sake of the guards, I hope he still has someone on the outside there for him. Without that touch of life outside, he will become awful for guards and civilian staff that work inside with him. Each inmate needs that one person who still cares, both for themselves and for the staff.

MOO IMHO

Excellent point, IMO. I have often thought that LWOP and the Death Penalty are cruel and unusual punishments. . . for the guards and others who must work/live around them. IMO

Have they indicated when the next court appointment is? And does anyone know if it will be televised?

It’s DB on the 911 call, but it is troubling to hear them begin to put the pieces together about AW’s involvement. JW finds the hat and phone while DB is on the phone with the dispatcher, and then the anxiety in DB’s voice ramps up. I think they knew right then the consequences of the night before, which is even more sad.

I am really confused. Can someone please link me to info about stairs in the house. Also, in the statement it doesn't say anything about getting kicked out of the house/fighting etc. It sounds like the sister invited Alex over to drink and play games and after too much drinking and because it was late she let him sleep on the couch. Moo

I’m overly confused!

One point I wish to make, I’m deeply disturbed LE nation wide disregard warrants for probation violations. Generally the person is stopped for a traffic infraction or disorderly conduct incident & arrested. Or murder, like here. I worked for a state drug court program. In 23 years not once did we have an awol person with a valid reason. Not once! When they skip meetings, counseling & miss or quit work, they are using.
IMO, a person in violation of probation poses a high risk to society, not necessarily to this degree but once they start using again, they need money & more drugs, they’re to going to do whatever it takes to get both. Moo

re: zig zagging

Google Maps

(add: map points, Shelly home, school, beer can, where body was found)

Missing girl's body recovered just 1/2 block from her home

ksl map @5:49

Thank you for your map Tadpole, made it easier to get the whole layout.
So, would this be the fastest route to where he brought her?
Right behind the school garbage bin is the alleyway.
Looks like maybe a 2 minute walk? IMG_3248.jpgFullSizeR.jpg

This is the first I’ve heard of it being spice and not marijuana. Where was that reported?

The man that set himself on fire outside the White House a few days ago was smoking spice. It triggers psychotic breaks. It’s terrifying how dangerous it is.

Exactly & a person with a fragile mental status drinking alcohol......oh boy.
Well, I think 99.999999% of us knew it was more than weed.

'Anger, hatred and evil': Family of Elizabeth Shelley talks possible motive in her murder

Whipple’s grandfather, Bill Whipple, is coping with the death of Lizzy and dealing with his grandson being accused of murder.

“He came into the house inebriated, angry, mean and hateful, and he lashed out at the family and that’s what happened,” he said of Alex

“This is not mental illness, this is just plain mean, anger, hatred and evil,” said Bill.

“I am not making an excuse for what he did — it’s horrific," he said. “He’s just mad at a lot of people; he’s just an angry young man.”

Talking points NG podcast

This is not in order but I wanted to start with this part first:

NG- Lizzy is absolutely beautiful! Looks like the poster girl for everything good in our country. Pretty brown eyes and beautiful smile with out a care in the world.

How in the hell!! did this guy end up in the home that night! (NG screaming voice)

Repeating stuff that Bill Whipple said about past criminal history.

NG-"Why in the Hay was he on the sofa that night so close to a little girl"
As I understand Lizzy's mom who had not had very much contact w/ Alex but decided to help him out that night"I don't know if that was right or wrong" (letting Alex stay)

Talked about the dwelling/ if it could be a break in/ must be inside job (why? I don't know why see said this, I think this was outdated info, before Alex arrest)

Mentions Press conf. w/ LE- about location of body so close to home just like Calyee.

Went over criminal history

-NG- I know a lot of people that will be throwing stones at the mom for having Alex stay over but I can guarantee you she did NOT plan for this to happen, she never imagined he can do a thing like this.
Family didn't think Alex was capable of this. It sounded like Lizzy's mom wanted to open her home and her heart to do right by her younger brother.

NG- It reminds her of the E Smart case when the mom did a good deed and help a laborer out but what did he do.
Bite the hand that feed him!

"Not moms fault"

NG is concerned because of his drinking problem. Seems like his family encouraged his drinking. Alex, sister and boyfriend drinking night before.(LE Report)
"That's like putting gas on Fire" (NG getting mad)
(talked about alcoholism)
12 percent chance getting away from alcohol once addicted
Voluntary intoxication is not a defense!!
Talked about FB message invite/playing video games/drinking/staying on the couch

"This child was Stabbed Dead" NG very mad -(she is making an assumption based on evidence/blood recovered)

Search Efforts went on for days (talked about it- nothing new to share)

NG-Did she have her own room? (was waiting for the answer but she got sidetracked and never came back to it- bummed)

more to come:

Where was the convenience store?

Spice? Do you have a link? Afaik spice is not a thick residue with an odour consistent with marijuana. IMO what was found in the silver container is more likely concentrated cannabis for dabbing. Shatter, wax, budder, oil etc.

That was quite a quote . I commend Grandpa William’s honesty in addressing the problem but following up with a solution that was inclusive rather than exclusive is important next step in the conversation. Saying someone should be sent to professional outside of the family to be fixed rather than saying we will figure this out together can be isolating message.

This murderer was an extremely sick individual. I have no idea what could have prevented this horrific escalation and don’t want to try to suggest any “if only”s here. What I do observe in the history are clear signs of mood disruption and acting out followed by limited consequences or limited follow through of threatened consequence (again - this is just based on limited info reported). With a disregulated brain - this can be twisted to mean “I can and will try to get away with...” or “I can do whatever I want if I just rage” because it’s been reinforced from times or worked for him in the past. It’s all about him, his impulses, his inability to empathize in his moments of acting out, and his lack of regard for logical consequences.

Wonderful post! So accurate in my opinion.
And for the BBM part, absolutely!
