An 'extreme stalker' has a Utah family's home under siege

A Utah family has become the victim of extreme stalking involving unwanted service providers repeatedly being sent to their home, according to the homeowner and police.

Walt Gilmore’s family in suburban Salt Lake City has been the target since August of a stalker using phone calls and texts to send a parade of people to the home for legitimate services and illegal activities, the Deseret News reported Friday...

The calls range from pizzas being sent to Gilmore’s office to an environmental cleanup company coming one Saturday morning on a fake call that Gilmore’s house was flooding. The false call cost the company an estimate $4,000 to round up the workers and drive to the house, Gilmore said.

I don't think they know exactly who it is. Sounds like it could be someone in Hawaii but they don't know for sure yet?

Sounds like they are being doxed by computer hackers. I wonder if the family does anything online that may have triggered individuals to harass them like children that play video games online. Generally in my experience of watching livestreamers or video games online sometimes groups of individuals team up to make one's life miserable. They will do anything from sending pizza deliveries to the FBI.

I just breezed by this headline in the DM and ignored it. I happened to glance at it again as I was closing the page and decided what the heck, I’ll read it. Wow. It is really scary and if I was this guy’s wife I would be scared to death too. Talk about making a family’s life a total living nightmare. I feel terrible for this family and sure hope this “stalker on steroids” is locked up ASAP.

ITA....these innocent vendors have been scammed and that is really a crummy thing to do. They are out time and money and I feel for them. As an independent worker I can see how they could be taken advantage of so easily and I would be ticked off if that happened to me, to say the least.

If the vendors can prove it’s this person, they should put liens on his home if he owns one, and garnish his paycheck to recover their costs. Send the debt to the credit reporting agencies when he doesn’t pay. Money talks. The courts may give him a slap on the wrist. However, the court of public opinion will crucify him. Beat him at his own game.

I recently watched a livestreamer go through this with the online community that follow him. He is adored by many of his fans and hated by those those same fans. They have gotten him kicked out of several dozen living arrangements, when he livestreams he can't go anywhere local such as a business because as soon as he goes inside the business the business receives calls from this community pranking the workers that work there or owners, he has been swatted several times by local and federal authorities, numerous fast food chains have delivered to his home without his knowledge, he has had numerous people show up to his door (escorts, drug users, people looking for jobs, etc.) and the list goes on. It's like his online community likes to see him suffer and have a bad day every day. It's not one person doing this to him but it's multiple unknown members of his community ranging from all ages having a good time at his expense. That's why I wonder if someone in the home either plays video games or has a presence online. It says the family knows who the individual is but does not go into detail. I don't think it's an exiled family member but possibly someone who they have dealt with online previously. This is a classic doxing case where a individual or individuals uses a persons personal information to create a life of hell.

It doesn’t have to be an internet stranger. The fact that the family believes they know who it is and has enough of his personal info (location and name at the least) to file a civil injunction makes me think someone in the family knows this guy personally. It’s not hard for people to spoof their numbers... I get at least 5-10+ calls a day at work from spoofed numbers.

Only a court can put a lien on his house. Only a judge can garnish his wages. The suspect in this case is in a pretty good position since these false calls for service and whatever else are misdemeanors and the state of Utah is not going to go to the cost and trouble of extraditing him from Hawaii. If Hawaiian law allows it the homeowners best bet would be to ask the Hawaiian police to handle the case seeing that the calls came from Hawaii. On the other hand the homeowner should be prepared to spend months or years in Hawaii testifying at trials.
