o/t I'm still laughing at: "boreda**wannabedetectives".
Don't let that deter you, people. We are good people doing good work. I'm proud to be a part of this great community. If that means being labled like that then change it to my middle name and I'll wear it honorably. <3

Well, and I think the STP folks "get" it now, too!

I doubt if she was on the round part. She was probably in the area at the top where there's a railing and walkway for the workers who are filling the tank. Unless it's a very new modern tank car, in which case you're right, it's really weird.

just bouncing off your thought. I think i remember seeing grating (like the pattern on her back), in the rear of a tanker car. Sometimes they have little step-rails between the hitch of the car itself and the grated frame where the car sets. It's quite possible she fell into that "nook", if you will, and just rode the whole way although kinda scrunched on her side. So not alongside or in the car, but parallel to the front or back instead..I hope that makes sense. lol jmo

Yes, I see what you mean, and that's a good thought. There are lots of styles of tank car, so unless we know exactly what kind she was riding, we can only guess where she was on the car.

This case this reminds me of Breaking Bad where they robbed a train for meth ingredients. I wonder what the train was carrying. If the Jane Doe was in the commission of a crime, then I can understand why none her friends would come forward.

http://republicanherald.com/news/police-search-for-woman-wanted-on-drug-charges-1.1623016
Look at the resemblance here. Failure to appear in court on drug charges October 11. She was on the run apparently. The article was published on the 26th so that was plenty of time to get cross country. Ashley's not an MP case in NamUs yet..What do you guys think?

I found her FB accounts, one is her full name and the other is first and middle. The one with the first and middle, has a photo of her smiling with her teeth showing. They are way different than Doe. Also, Ashley has a Monroe piercing in her photos.

I'm confused? (It doesn't take much to confuse me) but doesn't it say she was deceased for DAYS? So that would mean she couldn't have died on that particular train ride. So she had to have been put there or else she's been up there for more rides then just that one right????

You're right! On the demographics tab it says estimated postmortem interval: days...

Hmmm!

If she had been deceased for days, it would be very odd she was on top of the train the for days.

Im debating between these options:

She and a friend (or friends) go up on top of train to use, OD'ing and her friend takes her belongings knowing she is no longer alive.

Or

She was dumped on top of the train. I'm not sure how likely that would be though.

Sort of reminds me of Elisa Lam, how did she get up there?

Carl, as usual, your skill is simply amazing!
Can you render her less nourished looking? Our Doe is almost skeletal.
That boot mark has me so disturbed.
Maybe she was in Vegas in January working during the big annual convention?
Working girl used and tossed like trash?

I'm just not seeing that as a boot mark.

What about Mary Lou Wilbanks?

She has been missing since 2012 from Las Vegas. Her photo shows black/dark brown hair but her file says strawberry blonde. She has blue eyes, her photo shows acne on her forehead and she is listed at 66" tall. 2" height difference.

Mary Lou Wilbanks had two facial piercings but if she had removed them, they may not be noticeable with all of the damage to Doe's face.

What do you all think?

Let's formulate a list of questions for the sheriff and/or coroner

1.) Were there shoes with the UID? If so, any info on them?
2.) What was the official COD?
3.) The tanker she was on, was there a leak that may have let out noxious fumes that caused/contributed to her death?
4.) Where was the train prior to Las Vegas?
5.) It says she had been dead for days, but that the train originated in Vegas, took a 6 hours journey and she was found 2 hours after it came into the yard -- what??
6.) Any history or signs of drug use (ie; track marks, meth teeth)?
7.) Any other tattoos?
8.) "I'd like to know what kind of tanker. Did it have a ladder? Does lividity match where she was found/are there bruises on her? "

I think days is the lowest "category" of TOD they have on namus
I'd like to know what kind of tanker. Did it have a ladder? Does lavidity match where she was found/are there bruises on her?

ETA: IMO if someone had robbed her of her "gear" they would have taken ALL her clothes, not leave the pants and t shirt.

I thought "hours" was the lowest category -- I've seen it before.

I have been corrected!

So yeah then the being dead for days thing is odd. I do wonder how she was found. Was someone getting there to fill or empty the tank?

Just to bring up Livor Mortis again (so ppl don't have to search back through the past 11 pages):

Livor mortis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

-Livor mortis starts twenty minutes to three hours after death and is congealed in the capillaries in four to five hours. Maximum lividity occurs within 6–12 hours
- It can also be used by forensic investigators to determine whether or not a body has been moved - for instance, if the body is found lying face down but the pooling is present on the deceased's back, investigators can conclude that the body was originally positioned face up.

http://forensics4fiction.com/2011/06/06/estimating-the-time-of-death-livor-mortis/

-Lividity is generally seen within the first 1-2 hours following death. It will typically become fully developed within 3-4 hours but could still be altered if the body position changed. After 12 hours the lividity becomes fixed meaning it will not change.
-Blanching might even indicate another location or crime scene. Hypothetically, if you were to see 4″ wide slots of blanching separated by thin purple lines that may indicate your body was laying on a wooden deck made of 2x4s.

http://farmfreshforensics.com/csi_blog/view/198/forensic_lesson_of_the_day__post_mortem_lividity

-Another thing that's important about lividity patterns is "blanching pattern," because although the blood will settle to the lowest part of the body, it often doesn't settle at points of contact with hard objects. For instance, if you are lying on your back, there will often be light spots where there is very little blood, such as on your butt cheeks or shoulder blades.

Finding out if there are other bruises on her could confirm and rule out being hit or beaten.

 • #257
Maybe she's a runaway from a town the train passed through?

 • #258
If I had to guess about the "days" thing, I'd say maybe it's because she was found at 5:00 am on a train that had traveled more than 6 hours? So she could have died the previous evening. But yeah, I've seen "hours" too and this seems odd.

Ask if they where able to obtain fingerprints and ran them through NCIC

I just emailed the detective listed on the case. I sincerely hope he gets back to me!!!!

@Sleuthster -- I will ask when/if he responds to my email. I will follow up with a phone call probably by tomorrow or Thursday if I haven't heard back yet.
