Suspect's high school friend says Robinson was the only 'leftist' in a family of 'very hard' Republicans​

In a phone interview on Friday, one of Tyler Robinson’s high school friends, who asked to remain anonymous, said that the suspect was “pretty left on everything”and was “the only member of his family that was really leftist”.

“The rest of his family was very hard Republican,” the friend said.

Around sophomore year, the friend said, Robinson became more extreme in his political views and would “always just be ranting and arguing about them”.

The friend said that they played video games together a lot in high school and noted that the bullet engraving with the arrows was a reference to Helldivers 2 – which we mentioned earlier. He said that the arrows specifically were in reference to “calling in a big bomb that exists” in the game “called the 500 kilogram”.

When the friend saw the news on Friday, he said that he was shocked. “I knew he [Robinson] had strong political views, but I never thought it would even go near that far.”

Oh wow as I read this, I was thinking of them moving people back from the family home. I sure hope it wasn't a bomb threat type situation, but those markings on the bullet could have some meaning if it was the reference from that game.

I only listened to a couple of his events, and a lot of the time i felt like people were more argumentative because they werent actually listening to what he was saying. He challenged your thinking by asking questions, Thats mostly what it felt lke to me.

I know that's no what you personally meant.

But there is an ungrateful attitude like this, without any acknowledgement of what the money means. It's a gift from society (paid for by tax-paying adults!) to young people "for existing" because we need educated young people to grow into contributing adults to our society. It is a big deal whether it's easy money or not - it didn't come from nowhere, but from a decision adults made and allocated money to pay for.

And I do suspect the killer in this case was ungrateful for the "no big deal" scholarship and squandered the opportunity handed to him for existing.

I'm talking about what crime he might be charged with and it being aggravated murder. Even if some of the crowd did not agree with Charlie I highly doubt any of them wanted to witness Charlie being shot in the throat while they were present and in the audience. For me this murder qualifies as a heinous crime.

I’m not going to condemn words spoken by CK. I don’t know in which context they were said. He is no longer here to defend or debate his position due to an assassins bullet.
TR will get an opportunity to defend his words/actions.
Someone up thread made a DEI hire comment as perhaps an excuse for CK’s comment about black pilots. Again, I don’t know why he said that, but I don’t like it.
As for me, I don’t care if you’re black, white, purple or whatever, just be qualified to do your job whatever that may be.

There isn't any first degree murder, aggravated can receive the dp. Aggravated is only capitol felony.

Utah County Attorney plans to file formal charges against Tyler Robinson on Tuesday​

The Utah County Attorney, Jeff Gray, plans to file formal charges against Tyler Robinson on Tuesday, his office tells the Guardian.

Gray’s office “is carefully reviewing all the evidence in this case to determine the appropriate charges to file”, his chief of staff said.

Gray plans to describe the charges at a news conference at noon local time on Tuesday.

If charges are filed on Tuesday, Robinson’s first appearance would be a virtual hearing at 3pm Mountain time that day.
