I don't understand. There is no rifle visible when he jumps from the roof and runs off. The rifle was supposedly broken down and parts stuffed into his backpack and/or pants. Then the rifle is found in the woods nearby, fully assembled. Are they suggesting he wasted time reassembling the rifle when he stashed it in the woods, instead of just tossing it and running.
This makes no sense to me.
If you slow down the video, you can clearly see he has the rifle wrapped in a dark colored towel. He sets it down as he's adjusting to make the jump off the roof and then picks it back up. IIRC, its under his right arm as he is walking toward the street.

I have a question. I'm new to this site and learning as I go. But, in the video released of him walking to the campus with a stiff leg limp (assumably the rifle in his pant leg) then once the shot is taken and he's running across the roof, jumping down 14 ft and running again, where is the rifle? Nothing but a backpack in his hands. I'm not seeing how this adds up? Did he take the rifle apart and put it in the backpack? I would like to see pictures of the rifle in the towel to see if it was taken apart or not.
Welcome to Websleuths! I have the same questions.

I can see the rifle as he jumps down.

Noooo, surely not.....what became of the international assassin with a waiting private jet that turned off it's transponders in order to "disappear"?
It may be a clue that he doesn’t recognize on-line chatter to real life. And he is also a young college student who may be encountering new concepts and ideas.

Some parents or grandparents may not realize kids may play games on Xbox or other platforms with kids from other parts of the country. And they are able to talk to each other wearing headsets and microphones. So social media interactions may start at an early age.

Huh, can you post a screen shot of this clearly seen rifle for me?

He’s well known around the world…
He is now but I'd never heard of him and no one I've spoken to since this happened had either.

He was definitely not "well known around the world", as far as I can see.

This speaks volumes 😑
Anecdotal, but my 18 year old is registered independent. So perhaps it’s more common than it once was?

Hell if ghoul face cringey Kohberger and his yellow grin gets fangurls, this dweeb is bound to get a few 😑
I literally thought the same thing. And Richard Allen!?!?! Come on now. I absolutely despise this new trend of idolizing murderers.

The forensics would show if it is the right weapon or not by matching it with the bullet that shot Charlie Kirk.
"Matching" bullets to the gun that fired them is far from a done deal as far as evidential value goes. First you need to find it and if you do it needs to be in a suitable condition to examine and put through the various tests. A .30-06 bullet is travelling upwards of 2,800 feet per second. It will have lost very little velocity over 135 yards or whatever it was.

It is entirely possible that it is smashed to pieces.

What am I missing here?
LE didn't capture TR and bring it to an end, his father and friend brought TR to LE to surrender.
The one thing that was historic about a US political assassination is how the suspect ended up behind bars.
ino

"FBI Director Kash Patel claimed the capture of the suspect was 'historic' - patting the bureau on the back for bringing the manhunt to an end within 33 hours."

Moo....After the photos were released, tips increased. The FBI was collecting data, tracing through video surveillance, tips and forensics from Quantico, had identified the vehicle, spoke to the roommate. Moo...TR knew they were closing in on him. They certainly have enough evidence and placed charges, and I bet that's not based on any confession.

The FBI is notorious for not releasing information, example Kolberger. LE had a treasure trove and stayed close lipped until the trial.

DOJ may bring federal charges against suspect this afternoon - report

Federal prosecutors are evaluating possible charges they could bring against the suspect, two sources familiar with the matter have told CNN, and those charges could be filed by the justice department as soon as this afternoon.

Tyler Robinson is currently being held at the Utah County Jail on multiple initial state charges, including aggravated murder. It is unclear if any federal charges would be in addition to or replace state charges.

Donald Trump told Fox News this morning that he hopes the suspected shooter gets the death penalty. Utah governor Spencer Cox has also said that state officials will “pursue the death penalty” in this case.

Also anecdotal, but a lot of people I know do this as well. In some states, you can look up anyone's political affiliation. So, it feels "safer" in terms of hiring, admissions, and just in general to not affiliate with either side.

New York Times reported that the suspect was taken into custody around 11pm local time in southern Utah on Thursday night. The alleged shooter lived in a $600,000 six-bedroom home in Washington, Utah - around 260 miles south of where the carnage unfolded in Orem.
And, true to form, the Daily Mail absolutely HAS to mention the value of the house he lived in!

You can even clearly see him bending down fooling with it in the window reflection.

Since his father turned him in, maybe they will take the Death Penalty off the table. This is not really in federal jurisdiction, unless it is broadly interpreted. This is a state crime.
