I told my kids the same thing my parents told their kids - if you commit a crime, I will turn you in. I will stand by you in court, and I will visit you in prison, and I will welcome you back home after serving time, but I won't help you get away with breaking the law. Luckily we've never encountered that situation and I never expect to.

To be put to the test has to be truly awful, especially with death penalty on the table.

Mine was far more blunt and came from the top [Patria potestas]. "Do anything to disgrace the family you will be disowned with absolute ostracization" it was told. Harsh words...

I know others say they are not curious about him, but I am.
I'd like to know what motivated the person who killed Charlie to think it was a good idea to kill someone.
And to possibly face the death penalty once caught, one would think it would've been a very important reason.

He had a two day head start, made a mostly clean getaway, and then CONFESSED? What in the world was his end-game here?

I'm not hopeful it will be a "very important reason." I think it will be personally destructive and a wish to cause pain to his family. My opinion, subject to change as we learn more.

Good on LE releasing fuzzy images (deliberate IMO not to spook the suspect but enough to trigger recognition).

Good on the minister for identifying him. That's a good place for the reward money.

Good on Dad, whose life just went upside down, for detaining and turning him in.

Barely 48 hours, LE's investigation and use of crowd-sourcing worked. No one else injured or dead, including the suspect. Excellent work.

What a tragic, senseless crime.

Why, Tyler? Why? What did you gain in Charlie’s murder?
Headline news all over the world, I doubt he had a personal grudge against CK any more than Luigi had one against BT

“More specifically, multiple law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation told ABC News that the weapon is an older model imported Mauser .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle that was found wrapped in a towel in a wooded area near the school. The sources said a spent cartridge was discovered in the chamber of the gun.”
Source

I have seen others say it looked like a dark colored towel, which could be why not everyone is picking up on it in the video of him getting off the roof

IMO

Mauser rifles, including those chambered in .30-06, are currently manufactured in Isny im Allgäu, Germany by Mauser Jagdwaffen GmbH, the civilian weapons subsidiary of the Mauser company. Mauser bolt-action systems were originally developed in Germany in the late 1800s, and although their military production ceased in 1945, the brand continues to produce hunting rifles based on the classic Mauser 98 design for civilian use.

Did he go to THIS college (where the shooting occurred)?

Not your typical looking shooter with transgender and antifascust ideological scrawlings on bullets. Wonder if he led a secret life or was radicalized at University.
I don't think that has been documented, re the scrawlings on bullets, unless it was authenticated over night.

I would say at gunpoint while he, or his wife call the police, police officers have to leave handcuffs and the like at their workplace when they finish their shift
My DH = 27 years in LE. He didn't have to leave anything at the station. Came home in full uniform and in either squad car or his police motorcycle.

Those poor parents
Crushingly tragic. Sounds like they will have a support system which is good because they just entered a very, very difficult time....knowingly caused by their son.

Yes, I think so.

"Kirk, a conservative activist and co-founder of Turning Point USA, died Wednesday after he was shot at an event at Utah Valley University."

"Robinson was a student at Utah Valley University, insiders confirmed to Daily Mail."

I agree, if he had an ideological hatred of MAGA he would have fired more shots into the crowd etc instead of doing 1 shot

I think he just wanted the fame and attention
And to give up his own life, in slow motion rather than by gunfire on the scene. my opinion
