This whole thing seems almost too unbelievable to be true, like my mind doesn't want to comprehend that someone would have the gall to be a registered sex offender (of a child!!) and run for a position on the school board. It just doesn't compute.

But I have noticed that it's pretty common for pedophiles to also be awfully full of themselves in general, so I don't know why I am still so shocked when I hear things like this.

Interview with Jones.

ABC 4’s Noah Bond showed Jones the news clip. He said he recognized the woman as one of his foster daughters. Bond asked Jones if her story is true. “No that’s not true,” was his only direct response.

Then he shared his thoughts. “If we live in a Christian society when people commit a crime of confusion like that; and we’re not going to let them contribute and reenter society?” Jones asked rhetorically.

He was a foster parent. :furious: Regarding his sick quote above: once again, he refers to sexually abusing a child as a " crime of confusion". Sick, unrepentant. He already has reentered society. The fact that he can't understand peoples' concerns, as well as other quotes in this piece, just raise further red flags and clearly shows he should not be allowed near children, in any capacity.

So, clearly we should elect those with " serious thinking errors" to the school board...??

Jones pleaded guilty to sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl and was convicted of the crime in 1990.

He held a press conference

He said he's sorry, but then says "Whatever happened, it was over two decades ago." Still not owning his crimes, IMO. If his real drive was to make a difference by addressing fiscal restraint in govt, there are other positions he could run for. He absolutely is trying to regain a position of trust that specifically works with children. At least he's publically outed to the community as a real and current threat. He's clearly trying to manipulate the Mormon population there. I have confidence he won't succeed. Thank God.

Gandy, the Board president, has stated that he legally can run. Lofgren, listed at the link, is the incumbent Jones is running against. In case you want to ask what can be done.

I'm beginning to realize it's not just the offenders that allow the repeat of offences time and time again, it's also those that are in denial about the depth of the offences.

Imo, anyone supporting this man to succeed in such a position needs to wear the blood the man has on his hands (not necessarily figuratively) and the blood that may ensue.

Thanks! Is it not part of a sex offenders probation or whatever to not be on school grounds? Or is that only for certain offenders?
