According to this article the people of the neighborhood think differently...

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=2232580&page=1
Of course they do, they are experiencing horrible emotions because of this tragedy. They need to blame someone and it is much easier to blame someone else. The article also states,

"About midnight, Burbank showed up and told the angry crowd, "Until this moment, there was no crime scene. No specific evidence. Police had nothing. This is not the proper way to honor Destiny. All we can do is keep this from happening again," "

Check out this article about Destiny: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=365182

Cadie is quoted several times in it...

Wow, she was out helping to search for Destiny, all the while Destiny was in Cadie's basement. That must be freaking her out.

And before anyone says it, yes, I can totally see how that could happen. We had a house with a basement and I avoided going down there at all costs. It was for storage and I am terrified of spiders or any other critter that could've been lurking there. Not all basements are finished, and ours was used strictly for storage and I didn't put anything down there that I used on a regular basis. So maybe the Gregerson's basement was like that and Cadie had no need to go into it on a regular basis. I could go for literally months and never step foot in ours.

Hi everyone,

I write a true crime blog and I just did some internet sleuthing on Craig Gregerson. I discovered some interesting things.

Ladymemac, you did some great internet sleuthing. I found Cady's entries as well as her brother's fascinating. Who was the pedophile at Lilly's birthday party? Why does the Cady's brother hate Craig's mother so much? Very interesting....

Okay, go ahead and let me have it with both barrels, but his guy obviously had watched for a while and realized that he would have an opportunity to find her outside alone and did it. If someone would have been out there with her, he wouldn't have targeted her. I'm sorry if her family didn't watch the news enough to realize that there are pedophiles out there just waiting for parents to drop the ball, but . . . here we are. WE are the only line of defense between our kids and them. If we're not there, they have nothing.

Okay, go ahead and let me have it.

Jeana, I agree with you 100%.

But from what I understand (correct me if I am wrong) she went out into the back yard and the yard had a fence....I am not sure what time of night this was but I don't find it that unusal unless the parents went to bed and left her out side....I have let my children play in our fenced backyard at night many times...

The backyard was accessible to multiple families and could be entered easily from the side/back. No one would have known he even entered, as is appparent because that's exactly what happened.

Prayers for Destiny's family and friends. This is just terrible. Poor child, rest in peace.

Maybe he just called her over, reached over and grabbed her. The whole thing is horrible.

Maybe some details will help exonerate the police, but this tells me that it's better to do what you think is best - especially when every minute counts - and just go investigate "abandoned" houses yourself, grill neighbors yourself, look in windows with flashlights, whatever you have to do - at least that way you'll know you did everything possible, with or without police permission.

Any word on how long she was alive?

How about you just watch your kids while they're outside?

Before it gets to that point, work on preventatives. Teach your kids to NEVER go anywhere without first letting you know where they are and until they truly understand that, always supervise them, and then check up on them anyway. Lock all doors and gates with locks your children can't quickly open. Know all of your neighbors and keep your doors and gates locked anyway.

I agree -- I'm only talking about the investigation.

As far as watching kids, the degree of neglect today is unbelievable -- parents who just plain don't care. We have a teenager living with us - both parents are in and out of rehab and living in various places (houses with other drug addicts) with no regard for their child, unless they call him to complain about each other. He tries to carry all that -- he's turning his life around little by little - no thanks to them.

It breaks your heart.

So sad....prayers for her family....

I have a very independent 4 year old daughter who thinks that she is such a big girl. I have to constantly remind her that there are strangers out there that are not nice and could take her away from mommy and daddy. I try to do all I can to keep her safe, but it is physically impossible to be where she is at ALL times. Since I have joined websleuths, I am much more diligent about knowing where she is and being aware of our surroundings at all times. Although it is sad, times have changed. I don't trust the "friendly" neighbor anymore and I don't care if people think I am overbearing. -BUT- people disappear all the time - all ages, all races, both genders - things happen. I understand this and don't think it's appropriate to blame the parents. They could have had a 20 year old outside and if the monster wanted her bad enough, he would take her somehow, someway.

That's sad. Its terrific of you to take him into your home. It may have a chance because of you!!!!!

This is just incredibly sad. Just like Jessica Lunsford, as another poster stated. Maybe LE should make it a priority to search the surrounding homes from now on. If I child goes missing maybe they should start off their searches with the homes of the child's neighbors. Maybe I'm way off base here but Danielle Van Dam was taken by a neighbor, Jessica Lunsford and now poor Destiny. And how many more we don't even hear about on the news.
Here is another case of a neighbour killing a little girl....a 26 year old bored, lonely reject....who spent hours online doing his myspace blog......

The police spoke with Craig Gregerson. He refused to allow them to search, that does not mean they can just break in his house anyway, and they can't allow anyone else to do that either. I agree that in this case they probably would have found her body earlier; however, the outcome would not have changed and they might have lost the opportunity to prosecute him. They might have destroyed a lot of property and injured individuals had they just broken in to houses/buildings that appeared to be abandoned.

OK, I'm not blaming the police here. But I do have one question. Don't you think him refusing them to search should have been a red flag??? I'm really not sure how long a search warrant takes to get OR if they could get one based alone on the fact that he refused to let them search the house. But to me that is a HUGE red flag. A little girl is missing and you won't let the police search your house? That should have put the police on alert with this guy, am I off base here?

Good question. They need "probable cause" for a search warrant. Now that would have taken as long as it would take to type it up and find a judge to sign it. Again, by that time, she was most likely already dead.

You guys are all right in that the laws need to be changed. LE should be able to do whatever it takes to find a missing child.

I do find a couple of things very odd. I will refrain from posting them hear, but will post them in the case discussion area.
