I also was prompted to check the sex offender registry for my zip. I live in New York City(Manhattan) and there are only 21 offenders within my zip code. I really thought it would be higher than that. Especially considering I really don't live in the greatest neighborhood either.

I called my husband to tell him my good news according to the registry and I felt he said it best "sometimes they have cars to drive to neighborhoods like ours and it only takes one.."
Put it in perspective for me, I also got a lovely email from my friend at the DA's office stating it's not the ones that they know where they are they worry about.

Bursted my bubble, oh well, let's all stay vigilant.

I checked my area out here in Texas against RKnowley's link and NOTHING came up. So I think maybe my area isn't on the database.
But I also checked for S/O's and came up with a list of 28 which is not too bad. Although, I live kind of out in the sticks, rather than in the city.

Can anybody merge the rapes found from the links and the police blotter for details- ie: was it during the day, suspect in custody...
Also, which SO's were not home/did not answer door and did neighbors notice if they were gone overnight?

I keep thinking of Jessica Lunsford and it haunts me. As a matter of fact, her killer was indicted 3 years ago today. I think this guy is right in their "backyard". I have seen interviews from these creeps where they say they watch and wait; I'm really heartsick that could have happened here.

Sad, of those sex offenders found in the 84106 zip code area there are 35 whose known targets were female minors. 8 of those listed as a sex offender in the 84106 zip code area have no targets on file. The others (very few) had either adult female targets or male minors as the known targets.

My daughter and I were just talking about that area and she says she's pretty sure there is a Rainbow gas station across the street from the 7-11 as did StillHoping. LE seems pretty on top of this. So I'm hoping they pulled the tapes by now.

I feel so helpless. I can't walk far (cartiladge loss in a foot). The large search turnout makes me feel better though.

I, of course, think of the Destiny Norton case here in Utah. Her murderer literally was "right in their backyard." Her murderer is in prison for life. The man who kidnapped her coaxed her into his house and she was murdered within minutes after she was taken.

Blink34, Destiny Norton was found in the next door neighbors basement. IMO, there is a good possibility she's not far away.

RK, LE will certainly have their hands full checking off the S/O list.

I might have missed it, but does she live with her aunt and brother? Does she also have parents? You would think they would be on the news pleading for her return. It's a shame we can't just let our children walk out the front door for fear of their safety. IMO, 7 is too young to be outside alone. I'm so praying for a miracle for this precious little girl.
