In my opinion it is unfair to begin to lay the blame for this little girls murder on her parents because she was allowed to play outside or go to a certain apt. The parents knew the 4 guys that had lived in the apt for several months and must have trusted them. It sounds like they were friends of her older brothers. The bottom line her is that a little 7 yr old girl is dead and a 21 yr old guy murdered her. He is at fault and only him. Let's remember, this family aren't from the United States...their culture is different...the way they lived before they came here was totally different then we are used to. I would imagine they believed their little girl was safe or she wouldn't have been allowed to go out and play alone. They probably have no idea the amount of crime in the US.

And also... in regards to her poor parents. Her mother was in the hospital the day she went missing (she has been suffering complications for the last month since giving birth) and her father was at work, not getting off until 630pm when they shut the store down for the night. She was home with an aunt and one or two bothers. The fathers work (were 2 of the brothers also work) was only 1-2 miles away from the house.

This is so sad. I saw this on Nancy Grace last night. What a tragic ending. I wish these senseless killings would stop already.

Prayers to her family.

The "take away" here , I hope, is that if you know of a family that may make these assumptions or mistakes, then it is your repsonsiblity to take the time to help educate them. It does not change things for Hser, but perhaps it will change things for another precious girl.

This beautiful little seven year old girl was murdered. Hser Nay Moo's body was found in an apartment that was occupied by five men. One of the occupants has been charged with Moo's murder. Police arrested Esar Met who is twenty-one years old. Met is known to the Moo family as they were all in the same Thailand refugee camp together. According to neighbors many kids have played in that apartment. There's also alot of discussion going on in regards to an Amber alert and if Salt Lake City LE acted responsibly in regards to getting help for the little girl quick enough. I know alot of refugees are fearful of LE and actually anyone in uniform. That coupled with a language barrier I bet figured into the search as well. I feel so bad for this family. They get to America only to have their only daughter murdered. http://origin.sltrib.com/ci_8782804

Hser's murder is so sad - almost more so becaues her family did NOT realize the danger of letting her roam free around the apartment complex. I can't blame them because they seem like the famly I grew up with. I was allowed to do things that I would not DREAM of letting my own children do. Why? Because I KNOW the world has changed. We all have to remember that if we are here reading Websleuths, then we are attuned to aspects of the world that many people are clueless about. The clueless don't have to come from other countries either. God rest her soul, and God have mercy, (but seek vengence) on the soul of the person responsible for her death.

It shouldn't have been dangerous for her to roam free in her own apartment complex. Damn these monsters who take innocent children right out of their own lives and harm them. I've not seen any reports that she was sexually abused but have seen reports that the perp is related somehow to her family. WTF? We shouldn't have to lock our children behind closed doors - they're not the bad guys.

TY Filly for sharing- What a sad story-and she was such a sweet looking lil girl- I hope that the community reaches out to help these people- I coudlnt tell if they were legal (kinda sounded like they werent cbecause of mentioning of being reluctant of contacting LE).
SLC has a very kind and supportive group of Mormons taht help families in need. Maybe an agency can help them get the help they need-

I wonder what set this idiot off? I hope it wasnt sexualy motivated, but anymore, it seems like more and more are- I will keep this family in my prayers and hope they find/get the comfort they need to get thru this tragic situation.:behindbar AT least they caught the jerk.

So what I don't understand is why were all these little kids playing inside an apt. where 5 men lived? Over my dead body would my kids be allowed to go inside an apt. occupied by 5 men..just to hang out. No way. I think it must be a cultural thing?

It was said on Nancy tonight that the 4 men were friends of Suri's family. The kids would go over there and watch videos and play games with them.
The parents must have trusted the 4 guys. The 5th guy had only lived there 30 days and I'm not sure how well the 4 even knew him. Maybe these guys all came from the same country and were rooming together with the help of the organization that was helping them. They may have started out not even knowing each other before rooming together. The 5th guy had the basement to himself. Maybe he didn't associate with the others that much as he was pretty new. I don't know.

The below linked article, IMO, explains alot:

Esau's brother said their family had lived in a refugee camp for about 16 years in Thailand. When they came to Utah, Esar was over 18, so he was placed in an apartment with other young men. But you won't believe where the rest of Esar's family lives; his brother said right now, they live with Hser Nay Moo's family.

As far as the Amber Alert goes, I don't believe Hser met the criteria right away to put out the alert. I did not hear until after they found her body that she had asthma and did not have her inhaler. And with the language barriers, and the panic, it's very possible police did not know this information right away. Like many of you, I would love to see the AA system used more frequently, but as Idaho4Groen's said, if an AA is put out EVERY time a child goes missing, people would stop paying attention. That would be thousands of amber alerts per city each year. It wouldn't take more than 2 or 3 alerts in which the child was immediately found safe (which is the most common occurence) before people started tuning out the alerts. The alerts have to meet criteria because they have to be careful when it's used, to keep it a valuable tool. It sucks, it really does. But as WS'ers haven't most of you met many people who "don't want to know" about the horrible crimes that happen every day??? I know I have.
It's unfortunate, but not everyone is like us, tuning into every case of a missing person, murder or crime.

I really think LE thought this girl was going to be found safe somewhere, and the moment that they felt she was in danger, they did release the alert. They did release a Missing Child alert right away, and used the reverse 911 system. An Amber Alert would not have contained any information that had not already been released to the public.

OMG! It does explain a lot. No wonder the children felt comfortable going to their apartment to play. I have to wonder, too, if she wasn't looking for her older brothers in that apartment when she went over there. This poor child didn't stand a chance with this guy being involved in her daily life. It was only he found his opportunity.

I still believe it will come out this was a sexual assault. Listening to the Chief last night on NG again, it sounded like this information is being witheld until it has to come out. (He said to protect the investigation, but perhaps more to protect not only the family...but the Burmese population there as well.)

I know alot of immigrants, legal or not, are scared of LE. LE in alot of countries are corrupt murdering criminals wearing a badge.

I read somewhere along the way that the person who heads the AA system (in Utah or nationally?) discouraged Snyder from issueing an alert even though Snyder was adamant about doing that from the very beginning. Finally the person with AA relented the next day and said he would support the chief in his decision.

I swore I would stay away from this post today, yet here I am, already sorry- For me the absolute PREVENTABLENESS of this is haunting.
I would be surprised if this is this guy's only crime like this.

How awful.

I read somewhere else that Esar's family does not think he killed her. Can you imagine giving someone a place to live in your home with your children, their brother abuses and murders your baby girl, and the family says they think he is innocent after he confesses and the cops have recoverd the body from his bathroom?

No. Ludicrous. I might consider calling child services for the other children as this is a caldron awaiting an overboil and no child, especially those grieving as it is, should have to endure that.
