Looking at Logan Canyon on Google maps, it looks like there is a walking trail, but not tons of trees.

My understanding is that certain tissue will melt pretty easily--maybe like skin, fat, and muscle but bone takes a lot of heat and a lot of time. I'm not 100% certain, though.

If it is like other wooded areas it seems it would’ve been very difficult to find her without being led to the spot. I’m not familiar with the area’s topography so perhaps it is an easier area to search. I know some of you are local and can weigh in on this.

I’m very glad they found her for her family’s sake. If they did not find anything at his house that indicates Kenzie was truly there (the tissue reported earlier) will this make it easier for him to mount a defense that someone else killed her?

I hope that he was not savvy in making sure that his DNA could not be associated with her body.

If it truly is a rugged terrain I suspect someone led them to her.

Logan Canyon is pretty big and steep, but if they had an idea where to look, the search and rescue group could do it. I'm more amazed he'd travel there with a corpse, or pieces of one. It isn't a straight shot up a highway - and there's multiple ways to get there, so it depends which one he took. Any are risky, IMO. I'm in Salt Lake now, but I'm originally from Northern Utah, so I'm quite familiar with the Logan area. Pretty amazed he'd take such a risk.

I think I remember reading that flesh takes at least an hour to burn and bone takes several hours, depending on the temperature of the fire.
Neighbors stated he had a fire going on the 17th and 18th. I wonder if he burned her body down to the bone and took what was left to the canyon.
He must have been trying to burn something substantial to keep the fire going that long. Imo

As I mentioned above, this new revelation this can only mean one of two things, I think...I’m sure other people here may come up with some other scenarios, but right now deductive reasoning leads me to believe that:

A) There was initially an error with the DNA testing, and she was never burned in that fire, and rather dumped at Logan Canyon.

Or

B) There was no error in the testing, her tissue was indeed in that fire, which can only mean imo that another part of body was disposed of at Logan Canyon.

What else could it be?

I am immediately reminded of Jessica Ridgeway here. LE confirmed in a PC that Jessica Ridgeway was found at Patridge Park. I thought it was her body until I came here and everyone had photos from the helicopter and said she was dismembered.

The perp kept her head and her hands in her crawl space. And flushed other parts of her, but had dumped her torso at Patridge Park.

I don't think there were mistakes in the forensic tests from the fire pit. And I thought of Jessica's case as well.

I’m guessing he tried to burn her body and discovered he couldn’t so he then dumped her body. The utter disregard for life and then throwing someone away like trash is absolutely disgusting and appalling. I hope this rots in hell.

And I realize perps aren't known for ringing up LE and announcing the location of the body, but I'm always enraged to my marrow that they are watching families suffer and LE working round the clock while they sit smugly with all the secrets. There is no consequence great enough for these predators. There is no such thing as complete full circle justice unless they can resurrect the victim. That will always be the bottom line and that's why a parent will never have true peace. You live in two worlds when your child dies - here and where they are. Might be irrational of me, but if bereaved parents got to be the judges and sentence-givers in these cases, "here" would be a better place.

This to me doesn't sound like AA fessed up as to where they could find ML's body. This sounds like they were able to figure it out themselves based on evidences that they have gathered. MOO

Yeah, I don't know how they could have found the exact location if he had not told them.
Unless they tracked his phone or his car had GPS. But considering he knew so much about computer technology I would think he would leave the phone behind. Imo

I’m thinking maybe he tried to burn her and was unsuccessful as had been mentioned in here that body burning won’t work the way criminals believe it will.
Maybe then decided to bury her somewhere many miles away?

Yes, good point, but wasn't it described as "charred human tissue?" Or were those the words of the media? I would have to look back to be sure. If LE described it as charred, I don't think they were talking about blood. MOO

Google is showing it a good hour and a half away from Salt Lake City. If I recall correctly, he used to live in Logan, so he went back to a familiar place for him. Now I'm wondering if she never went to his house at all.

I sincerely hope her body is in good enough condition to determine a COD. We've had unusually cool weather in SLC lately, to the point where ski resorts stayed open for 4th of July skiing; I'm hoping that slowed the decomposition process.
