Yes, and he bought the gas can at 9:00 am on the 17th, just six hours after he picked her up.
Why does it always appear to be a gas can involved in murders let’s see Jodi Arias, Casey Anthony, and the list goes on.

Is it possible that her phone died? I know the timing is weird, but if she was on a flight, then a car ride, her battery may have been low, then died right at that time.

Is it possible that she could have had him take pics of her, then he lured her there by saying he would pay her or had the proofs, or something like that? Just an alternative thought from the hook up theory.

I hate to even write this, but having discussed drugs, money and sex...the other compelling reason would be...to be with someone you are completely infatuated with. Coming home from a sad trip like this, yes...you’d want to be with someone you thought you loved. You might be truly anxious just to see him, no matter the time.If they said...hey, I’m low on gas or funds...I can only probably get to the park and back....yes, you might jump at it.

We know him far better now than she may have. He could be charming. He may have seemed worldly, exotic, with a tragic past that made him all the more endearing to a young woman with a sympathetic heart. The other friend may have warned her...not from a SD/SB relationship...but a romance with this guy.

I guess we will find out when we hear about these texts.
Yes. The texts will probably answer much of this continued speculation.

But the driver couldn't describe the car nor the driver, correct?
No, or whether it was a man or a woman, apparently.

Keep in mind the fact that she had just returned from her grandmother’s funeral and might not have been thinking rationally. There is a correlation between grief and high-risk behaviors. It could be that they had an intense online relationship going on through which he managed to gain her trust. She was feeling lost, broken, needy when she got off that plane and he offered her comfort.
Grieving doesn't equal irrational thinking. And engaging in high risk behavior right after a funeral flight is probably not where any correlation, if there was going to be one, would have commenced. I also don't think he could pull off a 'comfort' ruse.

There was some sort of connection, even if it was online, she wasn't answering her friends but was texting back and forth with him, so this is likely a perfect storm of a lure and her simply being 23, and thinking she had a handle on the lifestyle savvy, but in reality she was unable to discern bait from what she thought was part of something she'd either done before, or had become comfortable with taking a next step in with him. Or, whatever tale he fed her made sense in a context that we just can't see into because we really don't know much. My guess is LE knows the bigger picture and history with what led to the park meeting.

O

I stand corrected. How then did msm find about the case if it was just her first report that was recorded? I would think that there had to be something after that first and only? One contact with police. As I remember there was some discussion as to the potential connection to a financial institution that both were thought to have worked at. All from one initial report?
Can’t reconcile all extra info if just one report from victim.

Police arrest Ayoola Ajayi and seek aggravated murder charges in the death of MacKenzie Lueck
North Park police investigated a rape complaint against Ajayi in 2014, but didn’t pursue the case after the female victim said she didn’t want to press charges, according to a news release the North Park Police Department issued Friday.

quite.

you see he is now a DEFENSE attorney. as such he is examining the case from that angle. what he is doing is giving the reader a window into the minds of the defense team. does this mean they won't convict? of course not.
I don't have a problem with people approaching it like a defense attorney. I do have a problem with someone doing so incompetently, which I think he is. He is ignoring substantial evidence and acting like if you don't have an eyewitness, the case is toast.

No, or whether it was a man or a woman, apparently.
But if the Lyft driver says there were only 2 cars in the parking lot--one being his and one being the person who picked ML up--and phone records confirm AA was there, that's actually quite useful.

<modsnipped> Do serial killers usually have an eye witness? Does he know how many victims are found decomposing in shallow graves did they have eye witness. Oh please This is making me so mad.
ITA. I'm not worried about the evidence in this case at all. LE is doing a great job and they will hand over to prosecution enough evidence for this guy to be convicted.

This is why they are called defense attorneys.
I know and yes I know they are entitled to a good defense so there’s no appeals and all that but it still bothers me when they make these media statements knowing darn well what the defendants did. I hope he doesn’t have a college aged daughter. I bet you if this goes to trial they pull the race card perhaps find some cop who’s used the N word and must have planted evidence in his backyard. The OJ trial all over again.

Just a thought, but what if the department issued that statement because they had gotten a request for that sexual assault report from someone who had found the link, realized it was related to the Lueck case, and wanted to get ahead of the media.

Think about it. Media outlets have quoted the report. The press release does not give that information. I could be wrong.

I was thinking the same. Derian Vence and Chris Watts had red gas cans too but I'm not sure if they were used in the crime. Imo

Well, LE has always been vague about what the Lyft driver saw so he may have seen more than we know. Imo

Scott Peterson too. That’s why it always a good idea for LE to check local hardware stores for video with every murder POI and suspect they usually buy a gas can or two.

I've wondered that, too. I think they were possibly baiting AA into relaxing his defenses, like saying the last person to text her was cooperating. . . .

They may have. I'm glad somebody discovered it. MOO

I think this is really important. I would like to know more about the specifics of what the driver saw, and whether the driver had any basis for what's been said about how he perceived her reception of AA. Some people are much better at reading emotions than others. I think we are putting too much stock in him saying she seemed relaxed.

Although it sure makes it easier when the killer leaves it in the trunk of the car.

I'm not into any wild stuff and I have zip ties of every size and length. I also have a lot of different types of rope. I don't see how a homeowner wouldn't have this.
I buy zip ties by the 500 bag. they are a must have for me like Ziploc bags and duct tape. I keep my potting soil closed tight with zip ties and just get a new one when I cut the old one off.
