Don't throw rocks at me, please, but here are some of my theories - again I have not read everything.
1. I think Kenzie knew A (met him in person previously).
2. I think she purposely turned off her phone.
3. Not sure why she met A at the park - for drugs (for someone else) or maybe she owed him some money.
4. I thought Kenzie had a risky life style but I am decades older than her - so I guess I am out-dated.

Again, for whatever reason she met A ended her life in a horrific manner. No matter her choices in life, she did not deserve to be murdered.
I wonder if she could have been pregnant?

THANK YOU. So her parents would have immediately told LE that she took a Lyft from the airport. LE would have contacted Lyft and asked about that ride from the airport.

Lyft would have cooperated fully because they do not want bad publicity or want it to seem like they were the guilty party here.
I’ve read on other cases it’s difficult to get records from Lyft and requires a warrant and takes quite awhile.

he also wrote a book.... maybe getting caught was also on his agenda.
Who knows? Maybe his goal has been three hots and a cot. Nothing would surprise me at this point.

But someday, someone else who is presumably not a murderer will live in that house, hopefully make happy memories there, and appreciate a healthy, living tree :)
Then why doesn’t he water all the plants, trees, grass? Truth is he’s probably watering the yards so it doesn’t bring down the value of the neighborhood a cute home with dead landscaping especially if you live next door.

I wonder if she could have been pregnant?

At one point we were speculating because she was pinning baby stuff to Pinterest about 3 months earlier. However, I don’t think we’d know until more comes back from the ME.

Sometimes people also pin stuff in anticipation for when the time comes.

AA is like smoke, just like his modeling picture. No matter which angle we examine him from, we cannot understand him or see him. In a way, ML is the same, we cannot fathom what possessed her to meet him in a dark park at 3 am and possibly shut off her phone. Smoke can be so deceptive, a screen.

I think, AA, sees himself as smoke. I was able to read a little of his book he wrote where he describes watching an individual burn. I think about how he viewed women, trying to possess them. I think about the cameras around his house so he could visually possess the women he came into contact with, the fires he used to burn ML’s things and pieces of ML. He is visual and I believe he consumed her, maybe not so much her flesh but the “smoke” of her so he could possess her in this way. The neighbors complained of the smell but he was out in that smoke and I think of that photo of himself in that smoke and I really think he wanted to maybe live that and not have it staged and possess her and breathe her in. I just think it is too coincidental that he has written a book of a character who witness burning victims and the smoke the bodies gave off, a photo of himself surrounded by burning smoke, and having a victim he burned for potentially 2 days and he acts as smoke...no one really knows him...changes for each different group of people he is around.

I think he was a predator who recognized ML had a weakness. The weakness was money. The transaction was supposed to happen in the car, but he didn’t have it and said he left it at the house. Once at the house ML became a victim to this predator. I am sure there are sexual components to this, but I feel the main one is AA has a fetish for himself consuming her smoke and being bathed in the smoke that comes from her. I know that sounds terrible and I am not sure if such a fetish exists.

You are not meant to, ideally. Best practice is to set up a IRL meeting in a public place (for a drink, coffee, dinner, whatever) ASAP so you know you're not being catfished and that you have chemistry in person, not just over a phone.
I suppose you could get a description of what he will be wearing and if he’s not who he claimed to be run out the door without him seeing you.

Dear Websleuths members and guests,

A woman who has been reading at Websleuths reached out to me and said she was raped by A.A. In my opinion she is being absolutely truthful. She has agreed to let me ask her questions about what happened to her and what has happened since Kenzie was murdered.

When I post what she tells me we will not allow anyone to be snarky, judgemental, or behave in any way other than respectful. If you choose not to believe her that's fine. Just scroll by without comment.

Later tomorrow I will begin posting her story

Thank you
Tricia

S

So when did her family report her missing before her employer and the school? I guess when family told LE about the Lyft info, they contacted Lyft? They didn't need a warrant for that info.

I just remember in the news reports there was a sense of urgency, and then, maybe not so much urgency.
Do I have that right or am I missing some things in the timeline.

I'm trying to match up info reported, to actions taken and warrants issued.
I thought she was reported at Hatch Park because of cell phone pings. But obviously not...I'm sure the Lyft driver told them that.
I think I'm just confusing myself..

Eventually they got her cell phone pings, which are probably slightly better evidence for the courtroom. But way back at the very beginning, the Lyft driver, backed up by the Lyft app, had shown that she went to Hatch Park. LE didn’t tell us that at first—they searched the park and confirmed that she and her belongings were not there. Announced it a couple of days later, as I remember.

Am trying to get caught up. My head is spinning reading everyone's opinion and speculation and "everything else" on this thread. So many great opinions and theories being voiced.

I think this....regardless of Mackenzie's lifestyle, because I will not at all judge that nor do I have a problem with it....that there is enough evidence already released that demonstrates Mackenzie lost her life in the Perp's home and at his hands. Parts of her body were found in his yard, he was the last person she had contact with, he was in Logan Canyon which is where her "hands bound body was found". The "no eye witness" statement is just plain stupid and ridiculous and just plain transparent..... which shows how little the defense has to go on.

I have no doubt that the perp will be found guilty, hopefully sooner than later. I await further information from authorities and what they release to shed light on the relationship these two shared. I cannot stand this guy, I hurt for MacKenzie and her family. I really hurt for MacKenzie...she was, imo, a target for a predator...sometimes shi@ happens and for this young woman shi@ happened and she died. She did nothing at all that was deserving of the end of her life!! I so feel for this young woman and her last moments. I am sure she knew she made a mistake and she was likely terrified/horrified and knew what was coming and that I have a huge problem with that. I really want the perp to be sentenced to death and suffer harshly for his actions and I am not a death penalty advocate, but with regard to this case I say "KILL HIM". RIP MacKensie..... what more is there to say.....

If she was that could be the reason meeting him at that hour to discuss their options. So many women are killed due to being pregnant.

I am so sorry that happened to her. I desperately hope she has also notified LE. Thank you to her for being brave enough to share her story.

I think the reason LE isn't releasing the texts is because they are so inflammatory it would unfairly taint the jury pool.

JMO
If those texts are detrimental to ML, however, you can bet the defense will bring them out at the trial.

Well, we don't know for certain yet, but if that's how ML met AA, then a dating app absolutely was NOT the best thing for her.
So there's that.

^True, we sleuthers don't know yet ----
- how AA & ML first communicated - dating app? bar? work-lab connection? grocery store produce aisle? time-honored church-related activity? Patreon.com? Sorority sister? Meetup.com? Modelling agency or assignment? Music concert?
- how extensive their in-person, face-to-face meetings were, if any.
- when their in-person meetings began, if any. Week before funeral? Month? 2018?
- how extensive their online/texting/messaging communications were.
- when their communications began. Week before funeral? Month? 3 mo's? 2018?

But...
Even if AA & ML had initially met in-person, and spent same amt of time in-person - as they presumably spent communicating online, is it possible ML still would not have detected the monster in AA and not have recognized the danger?
(no judgment on her personally, could/would apply other 20-somethings, 30's, and beyond)

Monsters walk among us in-person, do not just portray selves as Mr. Right (or Mr. Okay) online, then miraculously shape-shift into savage killers face-to-face.

^ JMO. Sad, sad, sad, and scary. RIP ML.

I looked more closely at the photo of ML in the airport.

She appears distressed, looks as if she'd been crying.

The way she looks, I don't believe that she wanted to go to his house, nor spend the night there.

There probably was a very mundane reason for her stopping mid-way to her house at the park to meet AA.

Except she didn't stop mid-way to her house!

ML lived the opposite direction near Trolley Square and the University.

She actually traveled past AA's house, and/or 13+ miles out of her way from the airport to Hatch Park.

I am betting the evidence is so overwhelming, AA will accept a plea deal that involves taking the death penalty off the table. This crime is so horrific--and he is such a perverted predator--I'd like to see ML's family spared a trial.

I’m curious which dating app is for middle aged and senior people perhaps a widow or widower? Do they use Tinder and Bumble too
I'm married but I get ads in my email sometimes for "Silver Singles," so there's that one and a few others.

I think he was a predator who recognized ML had a weakness. The weakness was money. The transaction was supposed to happen in the car, but he didn’t have it and said he left it at the house.

I'm curious ... what makes you think that ML was meeting him for an exchange of money? That seems to be implied here by several but I haven't seen or heard any evidence to support that. And, in fact, it seems pretty insulting to ML.

Isn't it possible that she actually liked him ... but obviously didn't recognize the evil?

I haven’t caught up on this thread, but want to chime in about the texts.

My son has an iPhone, iMac, and MacBook. When he lets our daughter borrow the MacBook or iMac, he always forgets to sign out. So then she will come running out of the room telling me everything he’s texting to his friends because the text messages also show up on all the other Apple devices he’s signed into.

Did she have an iPhone? (Sorry can’t remember which type phone or if it’s been said). Because if she did, she might have had a MacBook at home since she was in college... which could have recorded all the texts as well.

Just a thought.

I think that’s only if you tell it to sync or be available on all your devices; I have it off on mine but I can see kids wanting it so maybe she did.

BBM:

Ha. Exactly.

I'll take "Geek Evidence" over "Geek Attorneys" any day of the week.

More pearls of wisdom from my man Kent:

All of this evidence is lacking an eyewitness as to what happened. All of this evidence requires you to draw inferences from the forensic evidence,” said Morgan.

Finally,! Something this guy and I can agree upon.

Unfortunately, what my man Kent apparently doesn't understand is that there are some pretty clear inferences that can be drawn from finding human bone and charred human tissue (with hair attached) in a burn pit located in the accused's back yard.

To say nothing of the inferences that can be drawn from a charred body bound w/ zip ties and rope being found buried in a shallow grave at the precise location where the accused murderer's phone led LE to search.

I mean, huuuuuuge stretch required here, I know, Kent, but I'm thinking the forensic evidence might, just might, be enough to convince a jury of 12 that AA is guilty.

Assuming all 12 jurors have a pulse, of course,

JMO.
Love it
