Never heard them called Murphy doors before- just library doors, hidden doors, bookcase doors. So wonder if this was the brand of door installed? If so, I wonder what info, if any, the custom order people heard when processing AA’s order.

Of all the rental properties in SLC that have a backyard for his dogs to run in- he had to pick that one? I’d no more let my dogs play in that yard than my kids. To each his own, but REALLY? Jmho

This is the type of thing that I hope cops are aware of. I wonder if LE checked it out when they searched the property, or if it slipped past them? Dang they have to keep on top of everything in the way of home improvements/nifty DIY projects.

This is the type of thing my DH would love to install. He went nuts for the pocket door in our current house, he loves the idea of Murphy beds, and he's constantly watching home improvement shows for clever storage and space-enhancing ideas. But practically speaking, I think such a door would be more functional for disguising a secret room or closet than as a usable shelving unit - I can see stuff tumbling off the shelves every time you open or close the door.

Somehow I just don't think attractively displaying his books and collectibles was the reason AA installed it.

*Trial set to begin (2 day trial) (re 2018 sexual assault case) (@ am MT) - UT – MacKenzie “Kenzie” Lueck (23) (June 17, 2019, Salt Lake City, reported missing June 20, 2019, found June 26, 2019 charred female human tissue & bone, part of her scalp with hair, burned cell phone & personal belongings (clothing) burned & buried in his Salt Lake City backyard; body found July 3, 2019 in Logan Canyon (about 85 miles north of Salt Lake City).) - *Ayoola Adisa Ajayi aka “Joy” & “AJ” (31) arrested & charged (6/28/19) & formally charged (7/10/19) with criminal homicide 1st degree felony aggravated murder, 1st degree aggravated kidnapping, 2nd degree desecration of a body & 3rd degree obstruction of justice. No plea entered yet. Held without bond.

*Charged (8/13/19) with 19 counts of 2nd degree possessing child (sexual exploitation of a minor).
8/13/19 Update: An additional 19 charges were filed Tuesday of possessing child . The images are mostly of children between the ages of 4 and 8 years old, the charges state.
8/23/19 Update: Preliminary hearing on 9/9. 9/9/19 Update: Next preliminary hearing on 10/21. 10/21/19: A preliminary hearing in that case has been set for later in March. No update as of 2/5.
*Charged (8/20/19) with 1st degree felony aggravated kidnapping & 3 counts of 2nd degree felony forcible sexual abuse. Plead not guilty. (2018 sex assault).
Trial set to begin on Feb. 25 (a 2-day trial).

11/20/19 Update: Third District Judge Vernice Trease sided with prosecutors & the woman’s attorney Wednesday, finding Utah’s victim rights law protects the woman from being forced to take the stand at a remaining portion of a preliminary hearing next week (11/27).
11/27/19 Update: Judge Vernice Trease said she will rule Dec. 20 on whether prosecutors have met their burden of probable cause to support the kidnapping charge. In the meantime, she scheduled a two-day jury trial to begin in February on three counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
12/20/19 Update: Third District Judge Vernice Trease ruled Friday the evidence against Ayoola Adisa Ajayi meets the standard of probable cause in each of four criminal charges. Hearing set for late January. A 2-day trial set for Feb. 25, 2020.

Okay - that's strange as on post #940 last page that was posted by @crittercatt has a different Case # of 191905024. Same kind of charges....

Now we have secret doors disguised as bookcases? Man, everything I read about this case convinces me more and more that AA really did intend to turn this house into a dungeon of horrors for himself and his renters to enjoy. This is the sort of thing that pops up in tv shows and movie scripts, but here's an example of a guy actually trying to do it. And who knows how much longer he might've gotten away with it, too, if he hadn't messed up and killed ML (which I don't believe he wanted to do that night when he abducted her--I think she was more valuable to him alive than dead). Poor ML really did just run across a monster.

I mean, I like figuring out creative ways to make use of space, too, but I get the feeling that AA wasn't planning on using these little nooks and crannies to store his old tax returns, for example.
