Definitely wouldn't be a good place to park for some hookups. It's right by the police station and it is not far off from the big main street Highway 89. It's visible from like all angles so it wouldn't be a good place to go if you didn't want people to see you were there.

Good info - thanks. Always great to have locals on a thread.

So, sounds like easy access from the highway, making it a convenient spot for someone traveling from a different neighborhood to meet her as she arrives from the airport. A half-way spot between the airport and his place, perhaps?

If he just wanted to meet her for a tryst, he could've met her at a hotel by the airport. He had something else in mind, and, imo, set it up at his own convenience. (Assuming it's a "he" and that she met someone in a car.)

I live across the street, I'm happy to go take pictures, but I don't know if that's allowed on this forum.

Verification Process for Professional or Insider Posters

The significant part is the very bottom of the last post in the thread, where Admin say that locals don’t have to be verified—if you’re posting about the area, and activity in the area, go for it!

We no longer verify locals. It became way too time consuming and we didn't feel it was necessary. However, if a moderator deems that a poster seems to be more of an insider than a local, we will ask that you become verified before posting information that is not in the mainstream media. Otherwise, you are free to post about your area and what you've observed.

You’re totally in the clear! :)

Really a week later?. Not the most pro active police in the world!. Most cctv will have self edited over. DNA lost forever!.
To be fair, LE detectives only got the case last Friday.
The family didn't file a missing person's report until Thursday.
So, LE's being forced to play catch-up here.

I have confidence in LE to conduct a thorough investigation into ML's disappearance.
They don't even have evidence of a crime having occurred yet.
So there's that, too.

JMO.

It's always been allowed in the past. It would be great if you could also get photos of cameras you see and their viewpoint.
It would be great to know if there are cameras there, or at any place outside the park that might capture cars entering and leaving.

Their hands are tied by the law. We don’t know the true status of the investigation, and we do know that they aren’t allowed to do what they really want to do.

What they need to do.

Retrieve and analyze her digital footprint.

Hopefully @sweetcandyapple can let us know about the cameras. From driving by previously I do not remember seeing any.

It's allowed. Just make sure that you mention that you personally took the pictures when you post them. We require sources for all images, but the source can be a WS member's personal pictures.

Here’s another concern I have about LE not divulging her last known location: Yes it was late and this is somewhat of a perhaps isolated location (perhaps a local can elaborate more on this as they live across the street, assuming it is this location), but what if someone might have seen something? What if their dog had to poo or something and they were out, you just never know, moo. The more time that goes by, peoples’ memories fade.

@sweetcandyapple , thank you for taking pictures!!! What an amazing coincidence and possible material for us websleuthers!!

Can you please elaborate and tell us everything you know about this park (have we decided it’s Hatch Park then)?

LE just started working the case late last week, she wasn't reported missing until Thursday. Sadly that's a lot of precious time that has passed since the last text early Monday am and LE becoming involved. Scares me.

They can’t get warrants yet, as there is no evidence that she has been the victim of a crime.

Tinder would not turn over information to the family, as they have privacy rules.

The longer she is missing, the more evidence that she is the victim of a crime. Once’s it reaches a certain threshold, a judge will sign off on search warrants.

It sucks.
Why would it make a difference if she is gone longer? If as a capable adult, she decided to disappear, she can legally do that for any amount of time.

I think they need something else besides time. :(

All police vehicles are gone, there is a Fox 13 news SUV parked in the lot, but other than that, it seems they've all left. I personally took these pictures.

Hmm. Not a heavily wooded park, more wide open than a lot of cover. More than one parking lot it appears.

I find it hard to believe they are just now canvassing this area.

That is a really creepy area of town to meet someone you don't know at 1AM. So, I am leaning towards it is someone she knows.

I found out that my college age daughter bought a burner phone with cash, because she didn't want us to know where she was all of the time...it could be that the police don't even have all of the information.
Speaking of the whole burner phone thing, I am a bit older than KL and I know a few people who did the SD/SB thing in college. They definitely had burners because they wanted separation between their real life and their SB life/didn't want whoever is paying their phone bill to find out about it. FWIW I'm in my mid 20's and am on my uncle's phone plan to save some money - theoretically if he wanted to he could find out where I go all the time if the tracking feature on our plan was turned on (it isn't). I wonder if KL had a second phone.

I'm glad it's not a remote park but more of a community park. Has to be a lot of cameras in the surrounding areas. Still wondering why LE has felt the need to keep the location under wraps.

I am wondering that also about location. It makes no sense now. She has been missing since June 17...police did not start looking for her until June 21. I would have thought with video/phone/gps they would have an answer.

It was mentioned by law enforcement in that article.

The implication appears to be that the longer she is gone, the more evidence that there is something is amiss.

The more evidence that something is amiss, the more grounds law enforcement has to get a judge to sign off on a search warrant.

Gotta cross that threshold, and time may be the answer.

I'm getting caught up on this case after seeing it on-line. Very alarming, her family and friends have to be over the top concerned/terrified right now.

Why the speculation that she had random hook-up's? What evidence is this based on?

I can't believe in 2019 the word 'Sugar Daddy' is still used. Whatever.

As someone else mentioned, LE just got this case Friday. Then you had the weekend where many business hours are Mon - Fri. I think more will be released soon and they will be headed in the right direction of solving this. Like many, I do not feel like this will end with the safe return of this young woman and that's such a shame.

There are apartments right across the street from the Hatch Park tennis courts: Google Maps

Could she have been meeting someone who lives in those apartments but for some reason asked the Lyft to drop her off at the park?

Are there any cameras pointed towards the park?
Jumping off your post.

It sounds like they have already searched the park and have reasons to believe she is not there. I wonder if that means no longer at the park or no longer in North Salt Lake? Can’t they ping a cell phone when someone is missing without getting a warrant? I believe it is separate/different from obtaining records of her personal communications and the gps info. Maybe her cell phone pings indicated she was at the park for a short time and then moved to another location. I wonder if the Lyft driver noticed any cars in the parking lot when he dropped her off.

University of Utah student missing for a week after flying back from California

“That Lyft car took Lueck to a spot in North Salt Lake, which is about 8 miles north of the University of Utah, police said. Investigators declined to reveal that address but said Lueck is no longer there and she hasn't been seen or heard from since.”

I don't believe there are cameras, unfortunately. There are actually two parking lots, this one I took those pictures in, which is on the south side of the park. There is another smaller parking lot on the northeast side as well. I'd be curious to know which lot she was dropped off at. I honestly take my dog there all the time, all times of the day, and it's just a very quiet nice park. Whenever I go there after dark to walk my dog around the little walking track they have, quite a few times I'll see police pulling in there to monitor it.
