Right.

Lyft is saying pickoff and drop-off occurred at the destination "as originally entered by the rider" without any irregularities.

Lyft didn't identify the rider's name, or the specific destination address.

LE is saying they're still investigating whether or not ML actually got into an official Lyft car.

Sounds like they're doing their due diligence here.

JMO.

Exactly. And I have no doubt this is going to be an official Lyft vehicle, and everything was on the up and up.

It’s what happened after she was dropped off, that is the question.

Agreed.

Also from the same link / BBM:

“We are devastated. We truly need her to be found,” said Lueck’s cousin, Jolyn Mendelson, to KSL TV. “It was 1 o’clock in the morning she texted and said the plane had landed and that was the last text she put out. Then she got into a Lyft car at the airport and that was the last she has been seen.”

So we really have no idea what happened once she got off that plane.

Wait, so if she called a Lyft, and say she got into the wrong car, her app would show this. And the driver would have her destination on his end and would pull it up on his app, etc etc.

I don’t want to run too far with this unless I know that statement is solid (that they’re still trying to verify if in fact it was an official Lyft car)...
That should be the first item on the list that needs to be verified. That MacKenzie did infact take the Lyft and that she was dropped off at her destination. If so the driver might be able to say if he or she saw this girl up to the door. Do the help with luggage if help is needed?

Lyft is saying that the driver dropped her off, and then continued picking up other passengers.

Law enforcement will verify this, but Lyft has a good track record with cooperating with authorities.

Contact with the driver will be very important, and I imagine that’s already happened.

They’ll be able to shine light on Kenzie’s demeanor, and whatever else they saw.

And no, they don’t usually help with bags, and I doubt that would have been necessary anyways.

Some do, some don’t. Depends on the driver. If the driver did offer, she may have declined for safety reasons, as I often do. Or if she didn’t have that much luggage she also may have declined. Or not.

As of now, I’m going with Lyft’s statement that she arrived at her “destination” and the driver continued on. Jmo.

And where she was dropped off. The Where came before The What.

Those 2 questions definitely need answering.

Yeah. That’s the biggest unanswered question at this point.

Clearly it wasn’t at her house, as her bag(s) would have turned up.

Well, that may or may not be true.

Her roommates apparently didn't report her missing.

I'm guessing LE has just as many questions for the roommates as they do for the Lyft driver.

Indeed, however, technically we do not know for certain if her items/bags made it there or not (again thinking of Shanann, suitcase discussions...).

Re: the destination, let’s say there is not a romantic partner and she went straight home, which imo is highly likely. LE might not divulge this either, if they suspect something might have happened in the home and they’re still investigating.

Just sayin.

Well, her roommates said her bags weren't there. That may or may not be true.

I can envision a scenario where they just didn’t think much of it.

She had been out of town, and maybe they didn’t know when she was planning on returning.

We’re talking about college students here.

I’d be lucky to have correctly guessed what day it was back then.

Since all options are on the table at this moment, I suppose there is the possibility of a creepo neighbor (or someone else) intercepting her at her residence. Seems unlikely, just throwing it out there.

Anxiously awaiting more information.

As for her roommates not being the ones to report her missing, this is why I wonder if maybe they contacted her dad first instead of police to see if he had heard from her, and then perhaps Kenzie’s dad made the call.

I also wonder about transactions on her account and what LE’s investigation has uncovered re: this so far.

ETA:

“Fine said she and other alumnae of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority at the U., of which Lueck was a member, spent Friday putting up flyers around her neighborhood west of the university.

“We went by her home. We wanted to be close to her,” Fine told The Salt Lake Tribune, adding that they also talked to neighbors and asked them to keep an eye out for Lueck.”

So she lives West of the University and was in a Sorority.

Well, don't be too hard on yourself about that.

Not everyone learns at the same pace.

The important thing is that you did eventually master the days of the week.

Qmfr/

I’m noticing a discrepancy here re her last text. Was it that she landed (see below quote for reference) or was it this:

“She reportedly sent a text saying she was taking a Lyft ride home and has not been heard from since.”

University of Utah student, 23, reported missing since Monday

Also from the same link / BBM:

“We are devastated. We truly need her to be found,” said Lueck’s cousin, Jolyn Mendelson, to KSL TV. “It was 1 o’clock in the morning she texted and said the plane had landed and that was the last text she put out. Then she got into a Lyft car at the airport and that was the last she has been seen.”

So we really have no idea what happened once she got off that plane.

Wait, so if she called a Lyft, and say she got into the wrong car IF the above article is even on point and assuming she didn’t check the vehicle plate, make, model, driver pic, color, etc, her app would show that the ride was not in progress and that she still hadn’t met up with her designated driver. She would be registered as a no show and get charged, plus the driver likely would have tried to call her. If she didn’t make her “real” ride, Lyft would know it.

I don’t want to run too far with this unless I know that statement is solid (that they’re still trying to verify if in fact it was an official Lyft car)...Lyft’s statement makes me inclined to believe it was an official vehicle.

I’m going with her cousin’s statement for now.

Perhaps it’s a combination of both. It was likely both stated and understood that she would be taking a Lyft.

ETA:

Qmfr (Sorry for the 3 qmfrs); this statement says she texted that she had arrived at the airport, same as the cousin’s statement:

“23-year-old Mackenzie Lueck hasn't been heard from since Monday when she texted her parents to let them know she arrived at the Salt Lake City Airport at about 1 a.m. after flying from Los Angeles.

That was her last communication. She was reported missing Thursday around 4 p.m.”

Do we know who reported her missing? Family? Roommates?

How long does an adult have to be missing in UT before he/she can reported as missing? If her parents received her text that she arrived at the airport and knew she was working that day and had class, they probably wouldn't have thought anything was amiss had they not heard from her that Monday. Did she have more work and exams that week? My son goes to college in another state and he works. It's not unusual to not receive a text or call from him for a few days if he's busy. He usually texts when he needs money! Maybe her parents didn't text or call her until Wed. or Thurs. and when she didn't answer, they became concerned. Then they probably found out from friends or co-workers that she hadn't been at work or school since she returned, and reported her missing on Thurs. afternoon.

Also, as she was in my son's graduating class from high school and he graduated from college last year, she's either a 5th year senior or she's in grad school. My son thought she was in grad school.

I would think her roommates may become concerned if it was out of character for her to not come home, if they were close and if they knew or her return flight that evening. I wonder if she texted them as well that she was on her way? Perhaps not, especially if it was late and she didn’t want to wake them.

Student's last text to mum before mysterious disappearance

“It was one o’clock in the morning, she texted and said the plane had landed and that was the last text she put out,” Ms Mendelson told the station.

“Then she got into a Lyft car at the airport and that was the last she has been seen.”

Friend Ashley Fine told The Salt Lake Tribune she hasn’t seen Ms Lueck in class at university or at work all week.

“We’ve been spreading the word across the nation, around the world,” she told the Tribune.

“We have to do everything to look for her, because I’d want her to do that for me.”

Lyft told the news station it’s assisting police in the investigation.

Ms Lueck’s friend Kennedy Stoner told Fox 13 she’s “extremely concerned”.

“She’s just the sweetest, most genuine girl. I love her. I miss her,” Ms Stoner said.

It's unlikely that she was followed by someone at the funeral in El Segundo, CA., so something happened after she landed. It sounds like she scheduled a lyft, but no public information about whether she used a lyft.

See the first article below:

SLCPD told Gephardt Daily they were notified of Lueck’s disappearance Thursday and confirmed she was seen leaving the airport via Lyft.

Lyft added that the route contained no irregularities
and ended at the destination as originally entered by the rider, and the driver continued providing rides immediately after the ride ended.

Zero days. You can report someone missing immediately anywhere in the US. But many citizens don't know that and this could have happened in this case.

So she lives West of the University and was in a Sorority.

About a mile or so West of the U, there is a street that has numerous Sorority houses on it.
