Dovey-

Pharmacies can no longer take back controlled drugs. If you have a jar or something, out them in there with a bit of bleach, Seal it tight and put in garbage. You may want to keep a few of the hydrocodone if you have any. its good for pain, cough suppressnt, diarrhea.

potboiler RPh
I really want to get rid of them as I have grandchild who visit and I really don't want them in my house. I will take the script bottled to my local police and get them disposed of and ask them for a receipt for turning them in as another poster suggested. I never knew getting rid of pain med's would require so much.

On Gypsy tomorrow.... besides tracking texts between the two on April 11, did the State ever try to establish/ lay out a timeline of where she was on the day of the murder between 8 and 11am?

Maybe the inmates' testimony about mm referring to her as his wife opened the door for the state to question her about whether or not she ever assumed his name, in what context, etc...?

Maybe she'll be asked about how fit mm was? Dunno. Just hope whatever the lines of questioning she not be allowed to flash cleavage , shrug, smirk and evade. Where is Juan indeed. He'd make mincemeat of her in one short session.

BBM - My warped sense of humor keeps kicking in. If she's asked this, can't you picture her smiling coyly and saying, "Oh honey - he's plenty fit enough!" and then batting her eyes a touch?

So my uneducated opinion after thinking about it is: the defense will NOT put a case on.

It looks like the defense is taking the right approach - they will focus on the timeline. Nothing else matters if there wasn't the opportunity for him to kill her.

Don't know if anyone else has mentioned this as I haven't gotten caught up yet. But I was super annoyed at the judge today. I thought it was really inappropriate to allow Spencer to ask a million ridiculous questions about the time line without any interruption yet the State had him read from a page that was actually significant and showing the moral side of Poirie and was being rushed. I don't understand why State wasn't given the same time and opportunity to do the same thing as defense. If defense is going to bring up a bunch of conversations that portray the witness in a poor light, the law states that prosecution is given equal opportunity yet that didn't happen today.

Multiple times defense went on and on and almost every time prosecution spoke the judge asked when they'd be done or to wrap it up.

What the heck?

I would have to agree...if they can establish the timeline in MM favor with adequate back up from the work associate they plan to call then their client will walk. Even without the murder MM should be in jail for the rest of his miserable life for what he has done to his family.

Yes, am so early again, but I have many pages to read to catch up, and I have time to make a lotta coffee for you guys. It has been so nice to be on this trial with you all, I am learning so much. My only contribution would be an "OMG" every few hours, as I am slithering off my chair into the rabbit hole, lol. I consider all of you my voice of reason, and a new set of eyes with 20/20 vision. Yesterday I paid close attention to minor 4th, didn't have to ride the rails into the abyss at full speed. I will eat my hat and shoes if they finish anytime soon, if the jury is really deliberating on Saturday I will be so amazed and you all will have to prop me back up and tie me to a chair!

got some jet lag here so been up really early and amazed how much you can get done but then get so tired early evening. The judge seems like he is on a mission...like he has a world tour planned next week or something.

Defense seeks mistrial in MacNeill murder trial

Inmate #1 will return to the witness stand for more cross-examination on Thursday. Dr. MacNeill’s mistress, Gypsy Willis, is slated to testify again. Prosecutors said they may rest their case Thursday afternoon.

Defense attorneys said they intended to call Jim Van Zant, a co-worker of Dr. MacNeill’s; Linda Strong, a teacher of Ada MacNeill; and Brett Besson, an ergonomics expert to testify. They refused to say if Dr. MacNeill would testify in his own defense.

The jury could begin deliberations by Friday.

BBM - There's a greater chance that my fat butt will win a triathlon than there is that MacNeill will take the stand.

I think that is right. I also think MM did everything in his power to muddy the timeline to make it seem like he didn't have an opportunity.

Last evening on HLN it was reported that a fireman told investigators that MM had stated that he had only been gone from the house 10-15 minutes before he returned w/ Ada and discovered Michelle. (At least I think that was what was said, it was late and I was half asleep.)

Alibi/timeline better be down to the second with sterling silver eye witnesses. Here is what Courtchatter has on their site:

Prosecutor Grunander showed Robinson a map that included MacNeill's home, the USDC (where MacNeill worked), and Ada's school (the youngest MacNeill daughter who found Michele dead in the bathtub). Robinson said that he drove the route from MacNeill's home to the USDC approximately six times. Robinson drove the route at different speeds.

At 30mph, (five different tries) it took an average of 4 minutes 50 seconds.
At 25mph, it took 5 minutes 39 seconds
At 50mph, it took 3 minutes 7 seconds

Robinson measured the times between the USDC and Ada's school four times. The time averaged 1 minute 25 seconds.

School to home averaged about 4 minutes 30 seconds

On cross examination, Spencer asked Robinson how long it took to walk out of the home to the car. He responded about 23 seconds.

I don't think the prosecutors hit the timeline enough and assume they will on closing complete with visual aids that jurors can take back with them.

  • #772
does the prosecution have the right for a rebuttal case? If so it seems that the judge has some info that they are not going to put up a rebuttal case. Anyone with info on this?

I sincerely hope that Pead is not the one questioning Gypsy today. He did a terrible job the last time.

He also needs to pay more attention to his demeanor during court. He constantly rubs his face and head, sits with elbows propping up his head and looks somewhat disheveled and downcast. If I had to judge the case based on watching him, I would be thinking all is lost for the State.

Interesting ...there really is no standout for me on the prosecution team..I actually had to search for a photo of Pead and indeed he is the weak link and not at all impressive. I would think the same attorney continues when a witness is recalled but hope they do change it. The other two are young but seem much more comfortable with this case.

Inmates: MacNeill said cops 'can't prove it was me'
by Amanda Sloane-CNN

Snipped:

The defense is expected to then call a few witnesses to support Martin MacNeill's alibi, including his co-workers and his daughter's teacher. They have also announced that they'll be calling Brett Besser, an ergonomics expert who is expected to testify that MacNeill was not able to lift his wife's body out of the bathtub by himself.

Good Morning,
Ugh! I will be missing part of the trial this morning. Won't be able to really view it until 1pm today.

I can't imagine MM on the witness stand and this being wrapped up this week. I really don't think he will be called.

I also had to look up the word ergonomics and I do not get where this fits in. Call me confused and can someone help me out here?

I think it has to do with his toe issues. :twocents:

But, he was able to run and lift weights and do push ups, which takes putting weight on your toes. How the heck will that be explained away? I guess, we will have to see how that goes.
